A/N: Thanks for the reviews.
Baratta jennifer - thank you!
"Morning." Alex called entering her sister's apartment. Seeing her sister and niece coming to on the couch she apologised. "Sorry, thought you'd be up."
"What time is it?" Kara asked.
"Nine thirty."
"Nine thirty?" Kara asked sitting up straighter.
"You two okay?" Alex asked.
"Fine. We just had a lot of catching up to do last night." Kara explained.
"Technically it was this morning." The teenage Alex yawned as she stretched.
"Everything okay?" Kara asked her sister.
"Yeah, Kara stayed with Diz and Mel is doting on MJ so I don't have much to do." She then looked at her niece and asked. "When did they get so serious?"
"Who?" The teen asked yawning again.
"MJ and Mel."
"A while ago."
"And why are you only telling me this now?" Kara asked.
"I was too scarred."
"Scarred?" Her mother asked. "Does this go back to your comment in the hospital about at least this time Mel having clothes?"
"I thought you said you didn't want more information." The teen countered.
"You know me and curiosity." Her mother countered as her sister's phone rang.
"What's up?" Alex asked answering her phone. "We'll be right there."

"What's going on?" Alex asked entering the DEO with her sister. On seeing the unexpected person she said. "Lucy? What's wrong?"
"Indomitable just killed an alien." Vasquez said.
"What?" Kara asked.
"The alien was committing a crime. Indomitable did stop it. But in the process of doing so killed the alien." Vasquez summarised.
"Can we arrest him?" Kara asked.
"No. The alien wasn't registered so it is a very legal grey area." Lucy said.
"It isn't a moral grey area." Kara countered.
"I know. But unfortunately alien rights have not come on as much as they should. Even if they had, there is a good chance Indomitable would claim self defence. No Prosecutor would want to touch this." Lucy explained.
"What about a civil case?" Kara asked.
"It's possible, but they'd probably lose on the same grounds."
"This sucks."
"What if we could prove it wasn't self defence?" Alex asked.
"Then, we could do something. But I don't see how you could prove that." Lucy said. "It was well staged."
"Then we'll need to prove just that."
"That may be impossible." Lucy warned.
"If we do nothing, every alien is going to be a target." Kara said.
"There's something else." Vasquez said. "The crowd who were there then showed a lot of support for Indomitable."
"So the city has turned against aliens?" Kara asked.
"It's worse." Lucy said. "I think this is being set up as a precursor to eradicate aliens. Especially as if aliens fight back the self defence argument could be claimed."
"So what can we do, legally?" Alex asked.
"I am heading to DC to work on that, but I was sent here first to collect evidence of what is happening on the streets."
"You have access to everything." Alex said.
"Thanks." Lucy said before following Vasquez out of the office. Alex then turned to her sister and said.
"We will stop this."
"How? It isn't even breaking the law." Kara pointed out.
"Then we look for a non legal solution." Alex said.

"You okay?" Kara asked when she saw her daughter sitting at home later that day.
"Sure."
"What's wrong?"
"I saw the news."
"You mean Indomitable?" Kara guessed.
"He murdered that alien. And the crowd cheered him." The teen said.
"I know." Kara replied sitting next to her.
"Is he going to attack you?"
"I don't know what his plans are."
"If he does, can you beat him?"
"Honestly, I don't know." Her mother confessed. "But your aunt, Lena and I are working on it." She said. "But that isn't for you to worry about. Right now focus on college." She said as the apartment door opened.
"Hi." The younger Kara greeted.
"Hi." Her aunt smiled.
"I was just checking Alex was okay, but if you're here, I'll go."
"You can stay. It's time for dinner if you want to join us." Her aunt said.
"You sure?"
"Absolutely. Unless you have plans over the road."
"No. MJ and Mel are all over each other. Mom took grandma out to dinner, probably to give her a break. But then I was stuck as the unwanted the third wheel. Although I'm not actually sure they noticed I was there."
"You know that was you and Diz not so long ago?" Her aunt asked amused.
"No, Diz was too scared of mom." The younger Kara pointed out.
"Which is why you two spent so much time here." Her aunt reminded her as her daughter's phone buzzed.
"Seeing I am guessing that is Matt and Alex wants privacy, want to come with me to pick up dinner?" Kara asked her niece.
"Sure."
"We'll see you soon." The older Kara said standing and leaving the apartment with her niece.

"Things okay with Diz?" Kara asked her niece as they walked.
"Yes. Why?"
"You are hanging out with me." Kara pointed out.
"He's helping at the gym." The younger Kara said.
"So you are okay? You still seem a little withdrawn."
"I'm just feeling, I don't know a little isolated and with MJ in hospital, it was worst than normal."
"I'm sorry." Her aunt said hugging her.
"Don't be, I'm just feeling sorry for myself, which is stupid as it is MJ and mom who need help."
"Your mom?" The older Kara asked.
"You guys didn't think we'd see the bruises or the gash on her head?"
"To be honest we were so focused on MJ, we didn't really think about it. But it isn't as bad as it looks."
"Really?" The younger Kara asked.
"Can I lie?"
"Well no. But who knows what mom has been teaching you this year."
"If your mom could teach me to lie she would have done it when we were teenagers." The older Kara pointed out. She then turned and faced her niece and asked. "You sure there isn't anything else going on with you?"
"Just self pity. I'll be fine."

"Hey, weren't you going away with Michelle?" The teenage Alex asked confused when she saw Martin at her front door the next day.
"We broke up." Martin said.
"Why?"
"Turns out she is team Indomitable and hates aliens. Like really hates them." Martin said. "So I ended it."
"I'm sorry." Alex said letting him into the apartment.
"Don't be. I just can't believe I didn't see it earlier." He said.
"What can I do? Movies? Bowling? Museum?"
"Actually that's not why I'm here." Martin said.
"It's not?"
"No. I thought the news would have spooked you so wondered if you wanted to hang out."
"I won't be good company." Alex pointed out.
"Neither will I, so what do you say?"
"You sure?"
"Yes. But not bowling." Martin said.
"Movie?" Alex suggested.
"Sounds good."

"How are you doing?" Kara asked as her sister entered her apartment and collapsed on the couch.
"Like I could sleep for a week."
"Then why don't you?"
"Too much to do." Her sister complained before noticing how quiet it was and asking. "Where's Alex?"
"Hanging out with Martin."
"In order to avoid further interrogation?"
"More to cheer Martin up."
"What happened? Is Steve okay?" Alex asked sitting up.
"Steve is fine. Martin broke up with his girlfriend, who it turned out hates aliens." Kara explained.
"How's Alex taking recent events?" Her sister asked.
"Spooked and worried." The older Kara said. "Speaking of, Kara is worried about you."
"Why?"
"You do look pretty beat up."
"It's not that bad."
"You should tell her."
"Didn't you?"
"Yes, but she thinks you have taught me how to lie."
"I realised a long time ago that wasn't possible." Her sister sighed.
"I know, but she has more faith in your teaching skills than she should." Kara smiled before saying. "You should talk to her."
"About you being a lost cause when it comes to lying?" Alex asked looking over at her.
"No. I think she is feeling isolated."
"I'll talk to her." Alex said. "Or I would if I knew where she was."
"Library."
"Really?"
"She had an assignment to do and I think she wanted a break from MJ and Mel."
"I don't blame her." Alex said as she took out a phone and sent a message to her daughter.
"Where's Eliza?" Kara asked.
"At the DEO. Looking into some of the Indomitable information."
"Why aren't you there?"
"She was going on about me needing a break. So I left."
"Then why don't you have lunch with Kara?"
000
"Hey." The younger Kara said seeing her mother in the coffee shop. "Everything okay?"
"Why wouldn't it be?" Alex asked as her daughter sat opposite her.
"You are having lunch."
"I often have lunch."
"On a work day, not at the office?" Kara pressed.
"Sometimes." Alex said.
"So I shouldn't read anything into the invite?"
"Other that I want to spend time with my daughter?" Alex asked.
"So you are okay?"
"I'm fine."
"You don't look great."
"It's nothing." Alex said. "And you don't need to worry about me."
"Your face says otherwise."
"Really I'm fine." Alex said. "It was a stray tail hitting me in the face. No major damage. What I am worried about though is you."
"Me?"
"Yes you, something is wrong, you don't seem your normal self. You still fighting with Diz?"
"No. We're good."
"You sure?"
"I am. And Diz wasn't to blame, it was me."
"What did you do?" The older Alex asked.
"I just took everything out on him."
"Everything?" Alex asked.
"Yep."
"What counts as everything?"
"I don't know. Everything. Deadlines, distance, lack of sleep, everything." Her daughter listed.
"Want to know what I think?" Alex asked.
"Sure, but when Diz offered his opinion, it didn't go so well for him."
"I'll risk it." Alex smiled. "I think you are putting too much pressure on yourself." Alex stated. "And I know how easy it is to do that and I know how quickly it spirals out of control. And I know where that leads. I know you can't see it right now, but you don't need to put yourself under that much pressure."
"Don't I?"
"No."
"That's not the message you gave me during high school."
"I know I was hard on you, but that is because you have so much potential. But college is more than grades. And if you bury yourself in schoolwork you will miss out in so much." Alex said.
"Maybe, but it's not just school. I see the news and how bad it is in National City."
"What is happening in National City is way beyond what you can control." Alex said.
"I know that, but it puts you in danger."
"I have your aunt to look after me. You need to stop worrying so much." Alex said as her daughter's phone buzzed.
"It's Diz."
"Why don't you ask him to come down, we'll have lunch together." Alex said.
