Baratta jennifer - the younger Kara will have bigger issues
"How are you doing?" Alex asked her sister a few days later.
"Well I have only had two in depth conversations with Chewie."
"Alex only left ten minutes ago." Alex reminded her.
"I know. But I'm worried about her."
"Why?"
"What if Indomitable goes after her? Or what if people find out she is and alien?"
"She's smart and sensible." Alex said.
"But I am so far away."
"Clark isn't and he said he would go to her if needed." Alex reminded her.
"I know, but it's not the same." Kara complained.
"I know." Alex said. "But I don't think Indomitable will go after Alex."
"Why?"
"He has had many opportunities, none of which he has taken."
"Not sure that is exactly comforting." Kara pointed out.

"It's like mind control." Vasquez commented to no one in particular as she watched some footage of attacks on aliens.
"Perhaps it is mind control. I mean Barry is convinced it is." Alex said. "If it is, we may be able to break it. Let's see if we can make some large scale psychic dampeners."
"Won't that weaken J'onn? And Alex?" Ruby asked.
"Alex is out of the city. And I'll talk to J'onn, but if it reduces the threat I'm sure he'll be fine with it." She said. "And I want all of our team to wear them."
"If he is absorbing powers from metas maybe his power is like Osmose, maybe it is Osmose's power." Vasquez said.
"Something we never figured out how to counter." Alex reminded her.
"But we still have the blood work of those attacked. Maybe we could find something." Vasquez said as a group of DEO recruits walked past, lagging several feet behind was Diz, who walked with a limp.
"Let me know when you have something." Alex said to Vasquez before calling to Diz.
"Diz, my office." With that Alex jogged up the steps to her office. Moments later Diz entered and waited.
"You want to make a complaint?"Alex asked.
"About?"
"The treatment you are getting from the rest of your cohort."
"No."
"Diz, I can't do anything unless someone comes forward." Alex said. "And if you let it go too far you know you will be to blame."
"It's fine. I can handle it. Everything is contained within the training room. Where your guys are watching, if they thought it was a problem they'd tell you."
"You sure?" Alex pressed.
"Yes."
"Okay." Alex sighed before asking. "How's Kara doing?"
"Better than she was, but still stressed and … " He said before trailing off.
"And what?" Alex asked.
"I don't know. Something just feels off. She said she was tired, but I don't know it feels wrong. But maybe I just miss her." Diz said.
"Wrong how?" Alex asked.
"I don't know. It's just a feeling. But I'm going there this weekend, so maybe I'll realise I am just being paranoid."
"I'll check in with her protection detail." Alex said. "And Diz, don't ignore your instinct. If you want Kara to fly you there let us know."
"Thanks."
"Diz, if something is wrong-"
"I'll tell you immediately." He said.

"Cory? Was I expecting you?" Lena asked when the meta appeared in front of her.
"You said I could stop by any time." He said.
"Of course." Lena said. "Has something happened? Do you want me to call Kara?"
"Not yet." He said before asking. "Ever wonder how Indomitable is always a step ahead?"
"Every day, but I'd assume planning and intel." Lena said. "Why?"
"Just wondering how close you were to figuring it out." Cory said.
"Still a long way off. But we'll get there." Lena said approaching Cory. "And seeing you are here, perhaps I can run another test and get closer to the truth."
"You know, I am actually going to miss this." Cory said.
"You going somewhere?" Lena asked.
"In a way we all are." Cory said before stabbing Lena who stumbled back. As she did Cory said. "Part of me is sorry this has to end. But orders are orders."
"Cory?" Lena asked as she hit the work bench.
"I'm not Cory. I'm Cam." The man explained.
"Cam?" Lena asked trying to stop the blood loss.
"My brother betrayed me, left me to die. But I was saved by Indomitable." He said. "Indomitable then gave me a chance for revenge and killing Cory felt good, after all he had done to me. After that Indomitable gave me a chance to serve. I didn't think it would work, but Indomitable was convinced. He said Kara would lap up the story of my pathetic brother and she did. You and Kara made it so easy. So trusting, providing me with updates of your investigation. Letting me know when you were onto something so we could change direction. But you have served your purpose. Now it is time to make Kara know her actions will cause pain to those she cares about." With that he walked out. As he left Lena reached for the alarm before passing out.

"What happened?" Alex asked as Supergirl flew into the infirmary with Lena.
"I don't know. I found her like this. She was mumbling something about Cam, but nothing made sense." Supergirl said putting Lena on a bed.
"My team has this." Alex said as the doctors got to work on Lena.
"What if they can't-"
"Kara, Lena is a fighter. I imagine when she comes round she will be super ticked though, so let's see if we can figure out what happened." Alex said as Ruby entered the room.
"Boss we have-" She started only to see what was happening. "Lena?" Ruby asked paling.
"The doctors are doing their jobs. I need you to do the same." Alex said.
"What do you need?" Ruby asked.
"I need you to go to Lena's lab with Kara and figure out what happened." Alex ordered.
"Okay." Ruby said leaving with Kara.
"Sure that's the right action?" Vasquez asked.
"No, but Ruby needs to keep busy. You know how close she is to Lena."
"I do. But is she going to be able to focus?"
"If she thinks it will help Lena, yes." Alex said as a DEO doctor approached.
"Director."
"How is she?"
"The good news is the blade missed everything important." The doctor said. "But she did lose a lot of blood. We have given her a transfusion."
"Where's the blade?"
"With the tech team. They are looking for well all things odd." The doctor said.
"And Lena's bloodwork?" Alex asked.
"Normal. So far. But we will keep monitoring." The doctor said.

As Kara and Ruby entered the infirmary a few hours later, they saw Lena sitting up on a bed.
"Lena!" Ruby said before rushing over and hugging her.
"Careful." Lena said wincing.
"Sorry." Ruby replied releasing her. "Are you okay?"
"I'll be fine."
"We found the security footage." Kara said before asking. "Cory did this?"
"No Cam. I think it has been Cam all along." Lena said.
"What?" Kara asked lost.
"Indomitable sent Cam to spy on us." Lena said.
"Why attack you?" Alex asked.
"It was meant as a threat to Kara." Lena explained.
"Lena, I am so sorry." Kara said.
"For what?"
"I asked you to help Cory."
"Cory was a good lead." Lena said.

"Alex? What are you doing here?" Steve asked as she saw the older Danvers at the nurse's station.
"Do you have a minute?"
"My shift has just finished, so I am completely free." He said. "What's wrong? Is Kara okay?"
"Kind of. Cory attacked Lena."
"What?"
"Cory isn't Cory. He is Cam and has been working for Indomitable all along."
"Lena, is she -?"
"She'll be okay. But she did get hurt. Stabbed."
"I am so sorry." Steve said. "I introduced Cory to Kara. I thought he was a good guy. How's Kara taking this?"
"Badly." Alex said simply. "But my concern is Cory made his move now. There will be a reason for that. And it could mean you are in danger."
"Martin-" He immediately said.
"I have assigned DEO Agents to follow all of them."
"Thank you." Steve said.
"But that doesn't keep you safe."
"I'll be okay. You have more important concerns."
"Except if something happens to you it will hit Kara hard. So for Kara's sake I need you to be safe."
"Okay, well what can I do?"
"I'm working on that." Alex said. "In the short term, come over for dinner, Kara needs a distraction. After that, you have your watch right?"
"Yeah."
"Anything, and I mean anything, unusual happens, use it."
"Okay." Steve said.

"Steve? What are you doing here? Were you attacked too?"
"No. I'm fine. I'm here to make sure you are okay."
"Fine, about from feeling stupid."
"What happened is on me." Steve said. "I vouched for Cory. For that I am sorry."
"No, it's me." Kara said before looking at her sister. "You have always said I am too trusting. And it gets people hurt."
"Kara, yes you trust a lot more than I do, but that is why people like you, why you bring hope."
"How is Alex getting on with her exams?" Steve asked deciding a change in topic was for the best.
"Way less stressed than I was." Kara replied.
"I'm sure she'll ace them."
"I need to get some air." Kara said before flying off.
"Did I say something wrong?" Steve asked.
"No. She's just taking this really badly." Alex said.
"Is it okay her being out there like this?"
"Probably not. But J'onn will find her and bring her back." Alex said.

When Lena woke up she saw her friend sitting by her bed staring at a wall. Guessing what she was thinking she said.
"Kara, I am fine."
"No, no you're not. You could have been killed."
"Kara, I could have been attacked at anytime, by any of Indomitable's people. But I wasn't, I was attacked by Cory, or Cam, whoever he was. That was planned. Indomitable wants you to second guess everything. If you do he wins." She said shifting in the infirmary bed.
"The other thing I know, is to win, you need to be you. Indomitable is trying to erode who you are. You can't let him." Lena said.
"Being who I am is getting people hurt."
"Well, I can take a small knife wound if it gets us closer to stopping Indomitable." Lena said.
"What if you had died."
"It will take a lot more than that to get rid of me." Lena said. "I mean I am a Luthor. We are hard to kill."

As the older Alex got out of her car she felt a presence. Immediately on guard she looked round but saw no danger. Cautiously she started to leave the parking lot only for a familiar figure to appear from behind a car.
"Director." He gasped.
"Dodds?" Alex asked, as she saw the blood she went on. "What happened?"
"Did all I could." They said lunging forward and collapsing against Alex.
"Need help here." Alex shouted to the empty lot before pulling out her phone and calling for back up.
