"Dodds was already dead when the team arrived. It looked like multiple wounds, but we need to wait for the autopsy to know what caused them." Vasquez reported as Supergirl flew into the room.
"You okay?" Kara asked her sister.
"I guess. I need to wash this blood off. I'll be back in a minute." Alex said walking off. Noticing kara was following her she repeated. "I'm okay, the blood isn't mine."
"Not why I am worried about you." Kara pointed out as Alex entered the restrooms where she went to the sink and started scrubbing. "It's okay to not be okay."
"It's not the first person to die in my arms." Alex reminded her before realising the blood went high up her arms. As Alex removed her blazer she felt something in the pocket. Sticking her hand in she pulled out a small blood stained USB drive.
"What's that?" Kara asked.
"Don't know. Dodds must have put it there." Alex said before passing it to her sister. "Take it to Vasquez. But tell her not to put it in a networked machine."

"The drive had Dodds' prints on." Vasquez confirmed walking into the briefing room an hour later. We have a standalone machine that we have connected the drive to." She added waving a laptop. "And there are a bunch of files including a text document for you." Vasquez said to Alex.
"Put it on screen." Alex said, moments later the document appeared. "Can you increase the font size?" Alex asked moving closer to the screen.
"Sure." Vasquez said as Alex started to read the note.
"Director, I hope you aren't reading this and I am telling you in person. But if not, know I stick by my decision, even if it got me killed. I left the DEO not to join Indomitable, but to stop him. I couldn't risk him linking the DEO to any investigation so I quit. At the time I thought there might be a mole, if there is they are really good as I never found proof. I had planned on staying under until I had enough to give you what you need, but things have changed, it's moving fast and I am scared. Not for me, but for the city and the country. Indomitable is like nothing we have faced before. I can't do it alone. On this drive I have everything I have collected. There are still holes but maybe you can make progress. I'm sorry for lying to you, but know I was always loyal."
"So Dodds never defected?" Kara asked reading the note.
"Looks that way. But it could be a trap." Alex said. "Go through all those files." Alex ordered Vasquez who left the room.
"This isn't your fault." Kara said to Alex.
"I blindly accepted Dodds had betrayed us. If I had faith in them they might still be alive." Alex said.
"Or your actions could have given away Dodds wasn't working for Indomitable and they would have died anyway." Lena said walking into the room.
"Lena, why aren't you in the infirmary?" Kara asked.
"Because I am fine and if the rumours are true you need someone with a twisted mind to go through the data."
"You sure you are up for it?" Alex asked.
"Definitely." Lena said.

"So he has murdered hundreds as I have sat back and done nothing?" Supergirl asked angrily as she read some of the files.
"We all sat back." Alex reminded her.
"It's not like he would have been easy to stop. He has all those powers." Vasquez reminded her.
"Someone has to stop him." Kara said.
"I agree." Alex said. "But we need to be careful. Thinking this through for an hour could give us an advantage."
"There is also a chance the contents of that disk are false, aimed at making us act." Lena said.
"Verify everything." Alex ordered. "I am going to keep the President updated."

"Keep this up and you'll need to pay me a retainer." Cat said as she entered the Oval Office with Supergirl and Alex a few hours later.
"If we are still alive in a week we'll discuss it." The President said.
"Alive? How bad is it?" Cat asked.
"You've not told her?" The President asked Supergirl to Alex.
"All I said was we had new information and you wanted to see her." Alex said.
"You should sit down." The President said to Cat. "This could take awhile. The coffee is already here and anything stronger can be ordered at the end."
Nodding Cat sat down and looked to Alex who explained.
"Several months one of my Agents resigned to join Indomitable. Since then we have assumed Indomitable would know everything about how we operated. It also meant we couldn't risk putting in an Agent. However, today, well yesterday now I guess, he died in my arms and gave me a thumb drive with details about Indomitable and his plans. There was also a note where Agent Dodds said he was working to take Indomitable down."
"But they didn't include you in this plan?" Cat guessed.
"No."
"Probably wise." Cat said.
"Only they still died." Alex said.
"Let's make sure that sacrifice isn't in vain." The President said. "Fill Cat in on the rest."
"We are still going through the information, there is Petabytes on there, but so far we believe that Indomitable has the ability to take on other powers. We knew he had every power going, but he has got those powers from other metas. The good news about that is those powers aren't permanent, but we don't know how long they last nor do we know how easy it is to top up. But while he has those powers he doesn't seem constrained about which he can use."
"I assume there is something disturbing about all this? Apart from him being possibly unstoppable." Cat said noticing Supergirl's frown.
"He kills to get those powers." Supergirl said.
"Kills?" Cat asked.
"He doesn't just absorb the powers, he absorbs the life force as well. He has killed many. The drive had locations of where the bodies were destroyed, but whether there is any evidence is unknown." Alex said. "We can't just raid those locations either, not until we are ready for him to know we are on to him."
"A few weeks ago Ba- The Flash found proof-" Kara started only for Alex to cut in.
"Circumstantial evidence."
"Fine, some evidence that Indomitable is using mind control to increase his fan base." Supergirl said
"That would explain a lot." Cat said.
"It would, but right now we can't pin point the transmitters so we can't act on it." Alex said. "But it is consistent with him exploiting powers."
"But the issue is, if he is using mind control the life force and powers he took could have been volunteered." Cat said. "Which would be a legal grey area and those who are being controlled would not be swayed."
"Precisely." Alex said. "However, in the files we were given were lists of metas who went missing. We know he has their powers and we know they are dead. We also know they weren't supporters."
"But the only witnesses would be." Cat said.
"Yes." Alex confirmed.
"But it isn't just lists of names, there are videos and pictures. People can't ignore that." Kara said. "There is evidence of him torturing metas to understand their powers. Not to mention the aliens."
"Aliens?" Cat asked.
"The recent attacks were because aliens have been tortured on Earth. Some of the files show Indomitable was involved." Alex said.
"The problem is there is so much anti-alien sentiment that probably won't win any battles for you." Cat said.
"So once again the glimmer of hope turned out to be nothing." Supergirl said.
"Not necessarily. But you'll need to be very careful." Cat said.
"That is why I asked you here." The President said.
"I'll need to see the files." Cat said.
"Of course. You have full access." The President replied.
"How long do I have?"
"I'd love to say as long as you need. My gut tells me we get one shot at this, so we do it right. And no one moves until we are sure we can contain the resulting civil unrest."
"But?" Cat prompted.
"But I can't sit on this for long. I'll be guided by advisors." He then looked at Alex and asked. "What about the attack on your friend? Any evidence on the disk that points to Indomitable?"
"No. All we have is Lena's statement that Cam said he was working for Indomitable." Alex said. "But there are a lot of files on that disk, it could take weeks to go through all of them."
"Very well. Danvers, I want you to verify everything on that disk. And Cat, assuming the contents is genuine, work your magic."
"You must need me." Cat said dryly. "Last time you called it witch craft."
