Baratta jennifer - Indomitable still has a few tricks
"There." Frax said. "It looks like she is underground. Deep underground."
"How deep?" Alex asked.
"Let me convert." Frax said before saying. "At least a mile and a half."
"Can you transport her?" Alex questioned.
"Yes, but it will be a risk. There is a lot of rock in the way."
"How risky?" Alex asked.
"Twenty percent chance of failure. But that is a guess."
"Do it." Alex said.
"Are you sure?"
"She could be in trouble." Alex pointed out.
"Very well." Frax said nodding to his officer.
Moments later Kara's body, covered in mud, grit and grime, appeared on a bed bathed in artificial sunlight. The sudden brightness of the light causing Kara to shut her eyes as her sister ran towards her.
"Kara?"
"Alex?" She asked trying to move.
"Easy." Alex said seeing how badly battered her sister was. Seeing Kara's eyes were clamped shut Alex asked. "What's wrong with your eyes."
"Bright." Kara complained.
"Give it a moment, you have been deep underground." Alex said squeezing her sister's hand. "You are healing." She added as she saw the cuts start to fade.
"I thought-" Kara started before stopping and asking as she sat up, opening her eyes. "Alex?" But the light in the room proved too much as did the lingering pain in her ribs and she quickly covered her face.
"Give it a minute." Her sister said before adding. "Alex is safe."
"He said he had plans for her-"
"Alex is safe." Her sister assured her as Kara tried opening her eyes again, only to shut them quickly.
"What's happening out there?" Kara asked.
"The city is a mess. Riots and looting. But more importantly Indomitable has Lobo."
"What?" Kara asked trying to open her eyes again.
"He captured Lobo. Right now we don't know where they are."
"We have to find them." Kara said.
"I know and now we have you Frax will look for Lobo." Her sister said. "So you have time to heal. But first, you need to see Alex."
"You said she was okay." Kara said as her eyes finally adjusted.
"She is. But Indomitable captured her and she was exposed to Red-K. But she didn't do anything and she is fine now."
"I have to see her." Kara said getting off the bed.
"I know. But when you have you stay under the lamps." Alex warned.
"I will." Kara agreed.
"I'll transport you down." Frax said.
"Wait." Alex said looking at Kara's torn costume. "Get changed first."

"Alex." Kara said walking into the lab.
"Mom?" Alex asked looking over to before trying to get up.
"Easy." Kara said rushing to her side. "I'm right here." Kara smiled before hugging her daughter as the younger Kara slipped out of the room.
"I thought you were, they said that-" Alex started to say.
"I'm okay. What about about you?"
"I'm fine."
"But?"
"They all know who I am."
"Who?"
"Matt and Mel, Indomitable told them."
"It's okay." Kara said. "All that matters is you are alright." She said before pulling away and asking. "Are you alright?"
"Yes."
"Then why are you here by yourself?"
"Still weak from using my powers." The teen said before saying. "They have Lobo."
"I know."
"You have to go don't you?"
"Yes, but I will be back. I promise."

"So is there a plan?" Rice asked as he and Gold dragged Diz's bound body through the desert. "I mean other than hang out in the desert."
"We are meeting Thumper." Harper said.
"Thumper? He's still around?" Rice asked.
"Yes. He'll take Diz in."
"And us?"
"Go get our reward." Gold smiled.
"Where are we meeting Thumper?" Rice asked.
"Five miles that way?" Harper said pointing.
"We couldn't have waited five miles to sedate this oaf?" Rice asked.
"He was starting to ask too many questions." Harper replied.
"You couldn't have made up some lies?" Rice probed.
"He is kinda heavy." Gold agreed.
"Well after he went nuts there wasn't much we could do." Harper said.
"What exactly did you implant in his head?" Rice asked.
"His girlfriend dying. A very nasty death."
"Some power for him to believe it." Rice said.
"Well, welcome to the big leagues." Harper grinned. "The powers on offer are unbelievable."
"Any chance he'll stop believing it?" Rice asked.
"Not completely unless he sees her not dead. But that is unlikely. I mean even if the process Indomitable puts him through doesn't kill him, the whole Danvers lot will be dead soon enough."
"I need a rest." Rice said panting. "He's way too heavy."
"Two minutes." Harper said. "And I'll switch in with you."
"Thanks." Rice said dropping Diz and taking his bag off and grabbing his flask and putting it to his lips. He then looked at Gold and asked. "What power did you get?"
"I get mine tomorrow." Gold said.
"He's new to the party, like you." Harper said.
"Why not ask me before?" Rice asked.
"All we knew was you hated Diz. Weren't sure where you sat with everyone else."
"Any organisation that takes some one like him in, doesn't deserve my loyalty." Rice said kicking Diz's torso before offering his flask to Harper.
"Thanks." Harper said taking a drink and passing it onto Gold who took it but didn't drink. Harper then noticed Rice crouching next to Diz.
"What are you doing?"
"Checking the restraints." Rice said as he slipped a small blade into Diz's palm. "Don't want him getting free."
"Even if he did, he'd be broken by now. With every passing minute he is less of a threat."
"Only if your power is as good as you think and he keeps believing the lie." Rice pointed out.
"Still don't trust me?" Harper said.
"Don't trust anyone." Rice shrugged. "Especially him." He said looking at Diz. He then looked at the mountainous terrain ahead and commented.
"Next time, perhaps you can have a meeting point on a plain."
"I'll pass on your suggestion." Harper said getting to his feet, swaying as he did so.
"You okay?" Rice said stepping towards him.
"Just a little dizzy."
"Probably dehydrated." Gold said. "Have more water." He added passing the flask.
"Thanks." Harper said.
"We working to a set time or can you rest longer?" Rice asked.
"We aren't getting picked up for six hours." Harper said looking at his watch before collapsing on the ground.
"Harps?" Gold called.
"You-" Harper said looking at Rice, before drawing his knife and lunging at him.
Screaming in pain as the blade went through his leg Rice fell to the ground with Harper on top of him, but as the drugs fully took hold of Harper, Rice managed to punch Harper off him before looking round and seeing Diz, now free of his restraints battering Gold who lay unmoving on the ground.
Ignoring the pain Rice got to his feet and hopped to Diz.
"Diz! Get off him." Rice ordered pulling Diz off the unconscious Gold. "Want to prove you are who I thought you were?"
"Kar-"
"Is alive, they messed with your head. But if we don't get back who knows. So let's move." Rice said hauling Diz to his feet, trying to ignore the throbbing pain in his leg.

"Is she okay?" MJ asked when his sister entered the room.
"Better than she was, especially as aunt Kara is with her."
"She's back? Is she okay?" MJ asked.
"Looked it." His sister replied.
"What about Alex?" Martin asked.
"She's doing what she normally does." Kara said.
"What does that mean?" Mel asked.
"Jumping to worst case scenario." Kara said before looking at Matt.
"You going to hurt her?"
"No."
"Then I'll take you to her."
"I thought she didn't want to see anyone."
"She doesn't, but sometimes we have to ignore that."

"Any idea why they took Lobo?" Kara asked as she lay under the lamps.
"No. MJ said it was by force. It could be they are trying to get his powers." Her sister replied.
"Why? Indomitable is already an arrogant jerk." Kara pointed out.
"I meant his immortally." The older Alex said.
"Okay, that would be bad." Kara agreed.
"Or maybe someone will just transfer into Lobo's body." Alex suggested.
"Either way it gives us a chance." Kara said.
"How?" Alex asked.
"It normally takes days before a meta going missing and Indomitable using their powers." Kara argued.
"And if it is the body swap?" Alex asked.
"It will take a while to use Lobo's body properly. Either way, the sooner I face him the better my chance."
"Frax is already looking for Lobo. We just need to make sure you are ready when we find him." Alex said. "But on that note, any idea how you are going to win?"
"Working on it." Kara said. "Why are you frowning."
"Apart from the obvious?" Alex asked before explaining. "I have been watching footage from the city."
"It's bad?" Kara guessed.
"Yes, but wrong."
"Wrong how?"
"Indomitable has recruited thousands of metas to his cause, but we're not seeing them."
"So who are you seeing?"
"Just normal civilians. Many of who are metas but they weren't previously aligned with Indomitable. So where are all the ones he recruited?" Alex asked.
"You think he is holding them back for something bad?"
"I don't know." Alex said. "But something doesn't seem right."
"Where is Indomitable?" Kara said.
"All over the internet and TV channels. But his exact location is currently unknown." Alex said. "The danger is he is with Lobo." She added as Frax approached.
"How are you feeling?" He asked Kara.
"Better, thanks." Kara smiled, but her worry was obvious.
"I know I can't contribute much." Frax said. "But once we have found Lobo I will configure the transporter for you. If you get into trouble and need to be extracted I will transport you to this room."
"Thank you." Kara said.
