A/N: Thanks for the reviews.
Baratta jennifer - There will be a lot of recovery and second guessing to come.
"Anything?" Alex demanded over the radio.
"Nothing." Isles reported. "But we may not be in the right area yet. The radiation is stronger to the North." He said before someone in the back of the helicopter called.
"Wait. Over there." Newsome looking through a thermal imager said pointing to the water.
"Shelby, Mosley get in there, the winch will be ready in a minute." Lyons ordered just before they saw a red blur flying into the water.
"Um, ma'am." Lyons radioed. "I think Superman just arrived."
"Along with the world's press." Shelby muttered looking out of the helicopter at all the drones. Before Lyons could say anything they saw Superman emerge from the water carrying a lifeless body.
"Superman has Supergirl." Lyons radioed. "He is flying towards the DEO."
"We'll meet him here." Alex said wondering how bad her sister was. Her wait didn't last long as moments later they felt a breeze moments before Superman appeared in front of them carrying the unconscious, dripping and charred Supergirl.
"She isn't breathing." Superman said helplessly.
"Infirmary now." Alex ordered. As Superman disappeared Alex radioed ahead.
"I have things here." Vasquez said to Alex. The assurance causing Alex to hurry down to the infirmary.

"How is she?" Alex asked as she stood next to Superman.
"She's breathing again." He said. "But she was so badly hurt. I barely recognised her. And your team are concerned." He reported, having clearly been listening in to the doctors. He then looked at Alex and asked. "What happened?"
"We aren't sure. But based on what Lobo was saying it sounds like all the modifications that Indomitable underwent weren't stable and he became a bomb."
"How is that even possible?"
"Don't know. But we'll figure it out. Did you see Indomitable or Lobo?"
"No. But I was too focused on Kara." Superman said staring into the infirmary. He then looked at Alex and said. "I want to stay, but I know Kara would prefer me out there."
"I'll call if anything changes." Alex assured him.
"Thanks." He said before flying off, leaving Alex to pace alone.

"Have you heard anything?" The teenage Alex asked entering the room where Eliza and Lena were sitting.
"Alex, you are meant to be resting." Eliza said approaching her.
"I saw the news-"
"She's at the DEO." Eliza said.
"She's okay?" Alex asked.
"She was hurt, but your aunt is looking after her." Eliza said before noticing Alex sway. "You need to rest. And you should be under the lamps." She said trying to support her granddaughter just as Matt entered the room looking flustered.
"Why'd you run off? And how'd you get here so quickly?" He asked confused.
"You should not be using your powers until you are fully recovered." Eliza gently chastised. She then looked back at Matt and said.
"Can you take her back to the lamps?" She asked before looking back at Alex and adding as she hugged her. "We'll tell you as soon as we hear anything."
"But-"
"Alex, the best thing you can do for your mom right now is rest."

"Good news is the lamps are working and her wounds have mainly healed, which is a miracle in itself. But she still hasn't shown any signs of waking up." The doctor said approaching the pacing DEO director several hours later. They then looked back at Supergirl and said. "Although how she isn't dead I don't know."
"That makes two of us." Alex said looking at her sister.
"I may have an idea." Vasquez said approaching.
"Is this going to add to my stress levels?" Alex asked.
"For once, no." Vasquez said before explaining. "Although we don't fully understand how, based on our sensor readings Indomitable turned into a hydrogen bomb. He effectively gave out similar radiation to our yellow sun. We think that kept her alive."
"That is actually not terrible news." Alex said.
"However, I do have some news that won't help your stress levels."Vasquez said.
"What?"
"The fight against Indomitable's team isn't going smoothly. While news of Indomitable's demise has cooled the riots in the cities, J'onn, Superman and Barry are all engaged in fights, across the country with his lieutenants."
"Can't we do the transport trick?"
"No. The explosion damaged Frax's sensors."
"I thought that was just over the area over the explosion." Alex said.
"Apparently not." Vasquez said.
"Any sign of Indomitable's team going nuclear?"
"No. So far they seem stable, but no one wants to go all out in case it pushes them to instability. Right now we are focusing on containment."
"That sounds like a plan." Alex said.
"One other thing, our prisoners have woken up. I wasn't sure if you wanted to speak to them."
"Which prisoners?"
"The ones who tried to take Diz."

Alex entered the small room where Harper was secured to a bed and put a notepad and pen in front of him.
Seeing his confused look she explained.
"Indomitable is defeated. The best you can hope for is life in prison. But seeing you have under gone modifications that have been shown to turn people into a nuclear weapon, more likely you will be at a black site. Before you go there we have to debrief you. Fortunately for you I am a little busy. But I believe Rice has some time on his hands and he needs the experience. And seeing you are going to a black site, no one will ever know what happens in the interrogations. Which is just as well as Rice is one angry young man. So you can either write everything you know on that or you can talk to Rice. I don't care." With that she walked out.
Seeing Vasquez watching her she asked. "What?"
"Just trying to figure out if you were restrained or terrifying."
"I am going to wait with Kara. Let me know if anything happens."

Several hours later Alex saw her sister twitch.
"Kara?" She called moments before Kara bolted upright.
"Kara? You okay?" Her sister asked approaching her.
"I think so." Kara said, looking dazed.
"You sure? You don't sound sure." Alex said.
"Indomitable?"
"Gone."
"And the city?"
"Safe. Your crazy plan worked." Alex said. "But you don't look great."
"I'm okay. But I need to see Alex."
"I'll take you. But you look like crap, we need to make sure you are okay."
"I need to see Alex first."
"I know you want to, but she will freak out if she sees you like that." Her sister said. "Right now Alex is safe, she can wait while we run some tests."
"I'm okay."
"You were blown up and then you drowned. You stopped breathing and then you have been unconscious for nearly ten hours." Alex listed. "You aren't going anywhere."
"You don't understand. I saw her die." Kara said a tear running down her cheek.
"I know. And I will take you to her. But not just yet. I promise you she is okay. You I am not so sure about."
"I'm fine."
"Kara, you should have died." Alex said. "I thought you had died. We need to make sure you really are okay. Alex needs you."
"One hour." Kara said.

Hearing the door open, Alex assumed Matt had returned with more food, but as she turned she saw someone else.
"Mom!" She said jumping off the bed.
"It's over." Kara said hugging her tightly.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
"But Lobo-"
"It was for show." Kara said.
"The explosion."
"I'm fine."
"Looked like you got hurt."
"Well Lobo likes to make things look realistic." Kara said clinging to her.
"And Indomitable?"
"Gone. And I'm okay." Kara smiled. Before asking. "You feeling okay?"
"I guess."
"Why are you here by yourself?" Kara asked.
"I'm not. I mean I am, but Matt will be back in a minute with food. Last time I went to the other room I kinda collapsed. But I'm fine, just tired."
"Let's move to the bed." Kara said guiding her back. As they sat down Alex asked.
"You got really badly hurt didn't you?"
"What matters is I am okay now." Kara said hugging her. "And it is over." Finally pulling away she looked at her frowning daughter and asked. "What's wrong?"
"He hated me. But I didn't even know him." Alex said sadly.
"Who?"
"Indomitable. The look in his eyes and-"
"Indomitable was insane. Some people are bad. Some people hate anything that is different. But the thing to remember is they are the minority. And while their voices can be really loud, as long as there is one person fighting for justice they will never win."
"I love you." Alex said hugging her mother tightly.
"Love you too." Kara said as the door opened again.
"Sorry, I'll go." Matt said walking in carrying some boxes of takeout.
"It's fine. I need to talk to the others anyway." Kara said before looking at her daughter. "I'll be back soon. Why don't you wait with the others, I'll meet you there?"
"You sure you're okay?" Alex asked, clearly not believing her mother.
"I'm fine." Kara smiled. "You think your aunt would let me be here if I wasn't?"
"I guess not."
"There you go. I'll see you in a few minutes." Kara said hugging her again before leaving.
As she walked down the corridor to the main lab where she thought Eliza and Lena were she suddenly started to feel drained and the magnitude of what had happened caught up with her. As she started to relive events she heard her name being called. Turning she saw Steve jogging towards her.
"Steve?" She asked surprised he was there.
"Are you okay? On the news-" He started.
"I'm fine." Kara said.
"And Alex? Martin told me what happened, how is-" He started only to be cut off by Kara kissing him.
As his brain tried to figure out what was happening Kara pulled away and started to apologise. Not giving her a chance to back away he grabbed hold of her and drew her in for a kiss.
Turning the corner the teenage Alex saw her mother and came to a stop just as Martin approached from the other direction. Silently she and Matt walked past her mother and Steve and followed Martin back down the corridor.
"Did you know about that?" Martin asked after a minute.
"No." The teenage Alex said. "You?"
"No."
