A/N: Thanks for the reviews.

Baratta jennifer - Thanks!

"We have found most of the metas who really actively sided with Indomitable. As in the ones who were always on social media. Though most of them were dead. There are still five unaccounted for. But there have been reports of rampages, we can't rule out a connection." Rose reported the next day.

"You think they are unstable?" Alex asked.

"It's something we have to consider." Vasquez said.

"Have we got containment options yet?" Alex asked.

"Sure." Vasquez said.

"That will work?" Alex asked.

"Now that's a whole different question." Vasquez said. "I mean the ones we captured during the fight are contained, but then again they've not actually exploded."

"Make containment and finding the super modified ones a priority, the President is about to make them America's most wanted. That may back them into a panicked and explosive corner." Alex said. "What about the metas who sided but not actively? As in attended his meta centres."

"We have only found forty eight of them alive so far. Well technically twenty of them turned themselves in. All claim to not know why they sided with him. Mind control is possible and we did find markers in their blood, but it could be an excuse. We will continue running tests. The others seem to have gone into hiding, or we haven't found their bodies. It is a similar picture in other cities."

"How is National City doing?"

"Supergirl is making a difference. There has been less disorder, but plenty of attacks on metas."

"We knew that was coming." Alex said. "How are the LEOs responding?"

"On the whole, professionally, but some precincts are better than others." Vasquez said. "But I have an idea, although it may sound a little nuts."

"More nuts than someone being so desperate for power they turned themselves into a nuclear bomb?" Alex asked.

"Maybe not." Vasquez said.

"What is it?"

"We have quite a lot of aliens still in custody. Aliens that were attacked by Indomitable."

"Yeah."

"They were experimented on, but we have healed them."

"Yeah?" Alex said not sure where Vasquez was going.

"They could help."

"Help?" Alex asked still lost.

"With the clean up. I mean, If some of his victims help bring peace, won't that be a good message?"

"And if they aren't as healed as we think?" Alex asked. "The last thing we need is rampaging aliens attacking the city."

"They're healed." Vasquez said. "Your sister vouches for them."

"Okay, I'll run it by the President."

"I thought you were with Alex?" The older Alex said when her daughter returned alone that afternoon.

"I was. We went for lunch, but then she wanted to go the aquarium and talk to that Professor. Which I think was code for stop harassing her. But I'll check in on her later and then make sure she comes to Games' Night. How come you are back early?"

"It's the weekend."

"Yeah, but you were still at work." The younger Kara pointed out.

"Well I am back now." Her mother said.

"In that case, can we talk?"

"Sure. What's up?" Alex said looking at her daughter. "Is Diz okay?"

"Better than he was. But that's not what this is about."

"Okay." Alex said waiting for her daughter to talk.

"I've been thinking about what to do after graduating."

"And?"

"I think I want to do medicine."

"At Stanford?"

"Actually I was thinking about National City."

"Because of Diz?" Alex guessed.

"And you. I miss being here. And I spoke to Steve about the National City course and it sounded good. And my grades should be good enough."

"Okay." Alex said.

"Okay? You're not mad?"

"Why would I be mad?" Alex asked confused.

"Several more years of school. Coming back to National City." The younger Kara listed.

"Decisions you have thought about. If it is what you want to do then I am completely behind you. Besides, I'm sure Steve has already pointed out the hardships of med school."

"Just a few times." The younger Kara smiled.

"Then you have it all under control. I'm proud of you." Alex said hugging her.

"Thanks." The younger replied.

"Besides I will love having you back in the City. I miss you." Alex said before pulling away and asking. "You guys in for dinner?"

"I thought we were having games night."

"We are." Alex confirmed. "I wasn't sure if you were joining, or wanted time alone with Diz."

"We'll join. I think time with everyone will help him more."

"You sure he is okay?"

"He's getting there."

"Good." The older Alex said.

"Anyway, I'm going to meet Diz. See you later."

"See you later." Alex said. "And Kara, I really am proud of you."

"Thanks." The younger Kara said leaving.

"What was that about?" Eliza asked walking into the kitchen.

"Kara had decided she wants to go to Med School." Alex explained.

"That's a big decision."

"It is. Fortunately she has it all figured out."

"You were the same." Eliza reminded her as Alex's phone rang.

"Hi Kara, you okay? Sure, give me thirty."

"Problem?" Eliza asked.

"I don't know. Cat wants to meet us."

"Sorry, traffic was bad." Alex said as she entered Cat's office.

"It's fine." Cat said. "Have a seat."

"So what's wrong?" Alex asked as she sat next to her sister.

"The city." Cat said bluntly.

"It is improving." Alex said.

"Slowly. And most of that is down to Supergirl." Cat said. "But Kara deciding to jump into this fight reminded me we all have a responsibility to restore balance."

"Okay." Alex said.

"So far the media has shied away from the cold hard facts. They have chosen to focus on moving on."

"And that's wrong?"

"No, not exactly. But no one understands how we got here. They need to know for closure."

"So you want to what? Serialise the rise of Indomitable?"

"In a way. Yes."

"And you want CatCo to have exclusive access to all our evidence?" Alex guessed.

"As CEO of CatCo yes. But as a journalist no."

"I am confused." Alex said looking at her sister who said.

"I am as lost as you."

"If I run it exclusively it may cause people to think it is a conspiracy. It is no secret I was always not on Indomitable's side."

"So we share it with everyone?"

"No, we still need to keep a certain amount of control over the initial messages. So I suggest there are two of us who cover it."

"You being one?" Alex asked.

"Yes."

"And the other?" Kara questioned.

"Poppy Hunter." Cat said.

"Poppy Hunter?" Alex asked wondering if the psychic transmitters had caused permanent damage to Cat's brain.

"Yes. If his strongest supporter can help explain what happened then that is a much stronger argument."

"But Poppy Hunter? I mean she is either a complete air head or-"

"The newest Lois Lane, prepared to do anything to further her career." Cat said.

"Lois isn't really like that." Kara jumped in but on seeing Cat's expression said. "But that isn't important right now."

"Either way you will be saving her career." Alex said.

"Which pains me, but I believe it is the best way forward."

As the teenage Alex sat in the aquarium staring at the fish she felt a presence to her side before hearing a familiar voice say.

"Hey."

"Matt? What are you doing here?" She asked turning.

"I missed you."

"I thought- I mean you stopped calling and-"

"Yeah, I left my phone at home. So I have been off grid for a while. Sorry."

"How did you even get here?"

"Bus. It took awhile, I missed two connections."

"Bus?" Alex asked. "That must have taken-"

"This is the third day." He said. "And you probably want to stand back, I really need a shower and sleep. Not sure which one I need more."

"You spent three days on a bus?" Alex asked.

"Several buses, but yes."

"Why?"

"To see you."

"But I thought you didn't- I mean I thought after what happened that I freaked you out and you didn't want to see me. I mean you left so quickly."

"The truth is, everything freaked me out. Well not everything, most things. But two big things especially. And I thought I was okay with it and then I wasn't okay and needed to think. But then I was with my parents and all I could think about was you. And running away was making one of them come true anyway. And I can't promise not to freak out again, but no more running." He said. But seeing Alex was looking lost he added. "The point is. I freaked out, I ran away, I was a complete jerk and I am really sorry. But if it is worth anything, I am here now."

"Why?"

"To see you."

"Why? I mean I am still not human." Alex said.

"You think my issue was genetics?"

"Wasn't it?"

"No. Of course not. Why would you think that?"

"Humans don't like aliens."

"Not all humans are like that. And I am definitely not like that."

"Then why did you run away?"

"I was scared. All I could think about was what happened. You nearly died and you nearly died because you chose to save us. I'm not sure I could have done that. But you did it without thinking, so why would you want to be with someone like me?"

"Because I like you."

"Yeah, it is that part I don't understand. But I can roll with it and hope you never come to your senses." He said.

"You really okay with everything?"

"I mean my dad having a huge crush on Supergirl is a little freaky, I mean it was always weird, but now I know who that is, it so so so freaky, but I have come to peace with it." Matt smiled. "What about you?"

"What about me?"

"You nearly died." He reminded her. "You thought your mom had died. I know I am new to this, but neither of those are things you should be okay about."

"Maybe." Alex said. "But I'm getting there."
