Baratta jennifer - Thanks!
As Alura left the bedroom the next morning she saw her granddaughter in the kitchen.
"Morning Alex." She smiled.
"Morning." Alex said. "Did I wake you?"
"No." Alura smiled. "I'm sorry for taking over your room last night. I hope your early start is not a result of being on the couch."
"It's not." Alex assured her. "Do you want some coffee?"
"No thank you. It is an Earth drink I don't understand. But I would like tea if there is some."
"Sure." Alex said taking the teabags from the cupboard.
"Your mother told me what happened. How are you doing?" Alura asked.
"Okay, I guess."
"Alex, your mother raised you to be strong, and you are. But that doesn't mean you'll always be okay."
"That I'm learning." The teen said.
"Where is your mother?"
"Still asleep I think." The teen said before asking. "Are you staying long?"
"No. I can't. There are investigations on Argo I need to be present for. But seeing I am here, I would love to spend the morning with you and Matt."

"How are things?" Cat asked as she joined Kara on the balcony.
"Well Alex is haunted and I don't know how to help her. Indomitable was even worse than we thought. And then to top it all off, Kryptonians gave General Lane knowledge in the hope humans would wipe each other out."
"What did Indomitable do?"
"He was growing and using babies to help make his powers more stable."
"That's worse than even I assumed." Cat said after a moment. "Are the babies still alive?"
"Some of them."
"What is going to happen to them?" Cat asked.
"I don't know. No one even knows if they are stable." Kara said miserably.
"Why are you here?" Cat asked.
"Where?"
"Right here. Right now. Instead of with Alex, either of them or Eliza."
"I'm working."
"No, you are standing miserably on the balcony." Cat corrected.
"Sorry, I'll go-"
"Stay." Cat ordered. When Kara turned back to look over the city Cat went on. "No one can go through what you went through and be okay. Not even Supergirl."
"I know." Kara said. "But I don't, or I can't … " She started to say only to break off. But Cat silently waited until Kara said. "I don't know what I am meant to feel."
"Meant to feel?" Cat asked. "There is no meant about it. You feel what you feel."
"What if I don't feel?" Kara asked. "I mean I do feel. I am angry about the babies and what happened to Alex, I am scared I am letting Alex down. But those feelings they …. "
"Don't feel enough?" Cat guess. "They feel dulled. You feel like you should feel more?"
"Something like that."
"Maybe you came back as Supergirl too soon. Maybe you are using Alex as an excuse not to focus on you. Or may be you have been through so much you just don't know how to process it." Cat said.
"So what do I do?"
"Kara, I have had times in my life when I have felt something similar, but what got me there is so different from your case. I couldn't even pretend to understand what you have been through. But there are those who can. Have you talked to Barry?"
"No, he's busy with the clear up."
"He's your friend, that is more important." Cat said. "Talk to him." She added as the balcony door opened.
"Hey mom." Carter greeted as stepped onto the balcony. "Oh, Kara hi."
"I'll leave you to it." Kara said smiling.
"Actually we were looking for you."
"We?" Cat asked as another man appeared from behind Carter.
"Hi." The other man said.
"This is Kara." Carter said to his friend.
"Nice to meet you." The man said. "I was hoping you could help me find someone."
"Umm, sure." Kara said. "Who?"
"Right, my brother. He's about six foot, kinda a geek, brown hair." He listed. Seeing how confused Kara was looking he added. "His name is Matt."
"You're Stan?" Kara guessed.
"Yes." He confirmed.
"Matt has talked about you." Kara said.
"My step mom is freaking out, so I said I would try to make contact."
"I am meeting them for lunch in," Kara paused looking at a clock. "Ten minutes. Want to join us?"
00
"Sorry, we're late." Kara said as she reached the table.
"It's fine." Alex said before seeing the man by her mother's side. "Stan?"
"Hi Alex." Stan smiled before sitting down and greeting. "Matt."
"What are you doing here?" Matt asked.
"Your mom is freaking out, which has become my problem." Stan said.
"I called." Matt pointed out.
"After going AWOL." Stan said.
"She sent you here?"
"No, I was already coming to National City, but she did ask me to find you and verify you are alive."
"I called her and she has called Alex every day since."
"Well you scared her." Stan said.
"It wasn't deliberate I didn't have my phone." Matt protested.
"I know, the bit that worried me was you didn't know her number. But I have a solution. This is for you." Stan said attaching necklace to his brother. "It was Molly's but unlike you, she doesn't need it anymore. Now if you get found by someone they can ring your mom."
"Cute." Matt said looking at the pendant that has a phone number on as Kara asked her daughter.
"Whose Molly?"
"Stan's daughter. I think she's four."
"That's funny." Kara commented as Matt glared at his brother.
"Don't forget you are meant to be at work on Monday. If you aren't going to make it you-"
"I'll be back in time." Matt assured him.
"Good. It was nice seeing you again Alex. And Kara thanks for your help." Stan said.
"You aren't staying for lunch?" Kara asked.
"I don't want to intrude." Stan said.
"You won't be." Kara said. "Well if you are I am." She then looked at Matt and asked. "Am I intruding?"
"No." Matt said before Kara heard several faint screams in the distance.
"Good, but I'll be back in a minute. I just need to um … take a call." Kara said jumping up and leaving.
"It's sweet that you are sucking up." Stan said to Matt.
"But you don't need to." Alex added.

"As much as I love spending time with you, you didn't have to drive me here and you don't need to stay." Eliza said as her eldest granddaughter handed her a cup of tea in the Midvale kitchen.
"I know. But I like spending time with you and I like Midvale. Besides the change of scenery may help Diz." She said sitting next to her grandmother.
"In that case you can stay as long as you want." Eliza smiled.
"Thanks. But we'll probably just stay for two days. Something tells me Alex is going to be a little miserable in a couple of days."
"When Matt goes back?" Eliza guessed.
"Yes." The younger Kara confirmed before noticing the look her grandmother was giving her. "What's that look for?"
"You are reminding me a lot of your mother."
"In what way?"
"Being the glue that holds everything together."
"Wouldn't go that far." Kara said as Diz jogged down stairs.
"Your luggage is in your room." Diz said to Eliza.
"Thank you." Eliza smiled. "Why don't you two go and enjoy the beach, I'll prepare dinner."
"You sure?" Kara asked.
"Absolutely. Have fun."

"How are you doing?" Alex asked her sister that evening as she joined her on the DEO balcony.
"Okay."
"You don't look it." Alex commented before adding. "I'm sure Alura will be back soon."
"I don't know about that, but it's not that." Kara said.
"Everything okay with Steve?" Alex asked.
"It's fine. He's working." Kara said staring at the city. She then turned and asked. "Do you think I am broken?"
"No. I think you should be broken after everything. But you aren't. Why?"
"I feel broken." Kara confessed causing Alex to hug her.
"What can do?" Alex asked.
"I don't know. I just need to figure some stuff out. Actually Cat suggested I talk to Barry."
"Sounds like a good idea." Alex agreed.
"But I don't want to leave Alex, not when she is so fragile."
"I'll keep an eye on her." Alex promised. "Or why don't you invite Barry here?"
"He's done enough, I don't want to impose."
"Barry likes National City. He likes the ice cream." Alex reminded her. "Why don't you call him?"
"I will, but not yet."
"Kara, I trust you more than anyone and if you say you need time I believe you. But if I think you aren't being honest with yourself I will call Barry myself."
"Fair enough." Kara said.
"Want to go to your place and watch a movie?" Alex suggested.
"Yes, but no. I am trying to give Alex and Matt space, what about your place?"
"I am avoiding the house due to MJ and Mel." Alex sighed before adding. "We need a new home to go to."
"Lena has a nice home. We could go there." Kara said.
"We should probably ask first."
"You phone, I'll fly."

As the young couple walked hand in hand down the beach Diz looked down at Kara and said.
"I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"Being a mess. I guess I keep expecting you not to be here." Diz confessed. "Sometimes I find myself seeing what they made me see and I can't work out what is real."
"I'm okay and I'm not going anywhere." Kara said hugging him.
"I'm also sorry about before." Diz said pulling away.
"For what?"
"After Malaise messed with you, I never appreciated how hard it was to get over it. I should have been there for you."
"You were."
"I should have done more."
"You did plenty." Kara smiled. "More importantly, what can I do to help you?"
"Just don't get hurt."
00
"Can't sleep?" Eliza guessed joining Diz on the porch in the early hours.
"Sorry, did I wake you?"
"No, I always find it hard sleeping the first night in a different bed." Eliza said before passing him a mug.
"Thanks." He said taking it.
"Want to talk?"
"No, it's my issue not yours."
"I know you didn't necessarily experience it growing up but families are there for each other no matter what. And you are part of this family." Eliza said.
"I'm scared." Diz confessed after a moment. "What they made me see was so real and it makes me wonder if I am enough."
"Enough?"
"To look after Kar. To protect her."
"Kara is strong and independent." Eliza reminded him. "She doesn't need a protector."
"I know that, but if anything ever happened to her I don't know what I'd do."
"Diz if you worry about the what ifs you get stuck living in fear." Eliza said.
"I can't shake what I saw."
"Then focus on what you want. Picture the future you want and live to bring it about."
"That easy?"
"No. But it is a good first step."
