Baratta jennifer - Thank you.

"Morning." The younger Kara said entering the kitchen and seeing her mother.

"Hey. How come you are up so early?" Her mother asked.

"Diz has work."

"Yet you are the one down here?" Alex countered.

"He hasn't learned the art of getting up silently. He'll be down in a minute." Her daughter said as her mother passed her some coffee. "Um are you ok with the engagement? Because you seemed a little freaked out."

"I am really happy for you." Alex said hugging her. "I was just a little freaked out with how old you've gotten, which your aunt pointed out was me freaking out over how old I've got." She then pulled away and added. "I really am happy."

"So you'll help?" Kara asked.

"With?"

"The wedding."

"Of course. I'll cover costs." Alex said.

"What? No. I mean thank you, but not what I meant." The younger Kara said.

"Then what?"

"I mean will you help me plan it?"

"You want me to?"

"Of course I do. Why wouldn't I?"

"We have a history of arguing over everything." Alex reminded her.

"I know, but we are kinda over that stage now." Her daughter said. "So will you?"

"I'd love to." Alex said.

"Thanks." Kara said as she hugged her mother again, just as Diz walked into the kitchen.

On seeing them he said. "Sorry."

"It's fine." Alex said pulling away. "We need to go anyway."

As Alex and Diz walked through the command room Alex noticed several of the Agents exchanging money. Approaching Vasquez she asked. "What's going on?"

"What do you mean?"

"The money changing hands. What's the bet?"

"Whether or not you'd kill Diz."

"What?" Alex asked lost.

"The engagement."

"How do you even know about that?"

"Wildcat and your sister."

"And where is Kara?"

"My guess? Gone to check in on the babies."

"I'll go get her." Alex said.

"Before you do there is something worrying me in what we found. Well what we haven't found."

"What?"

"Assuming our assumption that Tycho was Indomitable is right, how Tycho transferred. That whole tech is missing. Which means there is probably a location we haven't found yet."

"Great." Alex said wearily.

"That's better than the alternative." Vasquez said.

"Which is?" Alex asked.

"Tycho wasn't Indomitable, he was the one pulling the strings and is still out there."

"I was hoping it was just me having that thought." Alex said.

"No." Vasquez said.

"Keep digging."

00

"You holding up okay?" Alex asked as she came and stood next to her sister.

"Oh hey." Kara said turning. "What are you doing here?"

"Checking up on you."

"I'm not the one who needs attention." Kara said staring into the lab where the babies were.

"While you are not the only one who needs attention, you still need attention." Alex said before asking. "How come you are here?"

"Just wanted to check up on the little guys."

"We're doing all we can." Alex said.

"I know you are. I just feel like I should be doing more. I just don't know what."

"Well when they are older I am sure they will need a mentor." Alex said. "And I the mean time, if you have the time we need as much help as possible going through all the files."

"I'll help anyway I can." Kara said. "Assuming they are allowed to live."

"I assume you are going to push for it."

"Of course."

"Then I'll back you up any way I can." Alex said before asking. "You ready to share your thoughts with the President?"

"Almost." Kara said.

"Take all the time you need. But first, let's go get breakfast."

"I'm not -"

"It's for me." Alex said.

"You? Why did you skip breakfast?"

"You were right, Kara noticed me freaking out and assumed incorrectly, the reason."

"But you set her straight?"

"Yes, this morning. Hence, no breakfast yet."

"But things are good now?" Kara asked.

"They are."

"Good." Kara smiled.

"So what happened?" Alex asked.

"With what?"

"You. For you to end up here so early?"

"Oh, I was just feeling guilty."

"About?"

"Last night, we had so much fun and life seemed so normal. Then when I tried to get to sleep I kept thinking about these kids and I felt so guilty about leading my life like nothing happened."

"Kara, what happened to those babies, is terrible, but it's not your fault."

"Isn't it? If I had stopped Indomitable sooner-"

"Kara, listen to me. You did all you could. The only one responsible is Indomitable. And you wallowing in guilt isn't going to help those kids, or Alex."

"I know, but neither is me living life like nothing is wrong."

"You, more than anyone, deserves to be happy." Alex said before trying. "Besides, it might help Alex." She then paused and added. "Kara, your biggest strength is the hope you instil in others, and those kids will need hope. But to do that you need have hope in your own life. And probably discuss this with Cat who is far better at this than me."

"You're getting better." Kara said smiling faintly.

"I'm back." The teenage Alex called as she entered the apartment that evening. Her presence causing Chewie to run over to her.

"Hey." She said picking him up. As she did so he tried licking her face. "You hungry or bored? Or both?" She asked. In response he continued to lick her. "Come on let's go for a walk." She said resulting in him leaping from her arms and running to the door. "Just let me message mom." She added taking out her phone, causing the impatient dog to bark.

"You are getting very needy." Alex said looking at him before finishing the message and putting the leash on him and taking him outside.

As they walked through the park Alex saw a crowd up ahead before hearing angry shouting.

For a moment she hesitated and then started to turn back, only as she did so she saw a young girl backed against a tree, taking abuse from the crowd. Listening in she realised the crowd was shouting at the terrified girl because she was a Meta. Taking a breath she squeezed her necklace before making her way through the crowd and stood next to the girl before facing the crowd and saying.

"Leave her alone."

"What's it to you? Are you a freak too?" An angry teem asked.

"I'm not the one attacking a kid." Alex said.

"She's not a kid, she's a freak." A man shouted.

"She's a kid and has done nothing wrong." Alex argued.

"But she will. She's one of them." Someone else in the crowd said.

As Supergirl arrived in the sky above she saw what was happening and fought the urge to swoop down to the park. Instead she watched as her daughter diffused the situation.

"One of what? A human? Everyone sided with Indomitable, even you. Maybe your anger is because he fooled you." Alex argued.

"Or maybe you are one of them." Another man said as some of the crowd started to leave.

"One of what? What are you scared of?" Alex asked wondering where her mother was. "From where I am standing you are the one who looks scary, not this kid."

"Well Metas hide their danger. Someone has to stick up for us."

"Us?" Alex asked. "You are the one bullying and threatening." She added before seeing a glint from the man's hand. "Is that a knife?"

Hearing the word 'knife' Kara immediately flew down.

"Everything okay?" Supergirl said landing next to her daughter.

"Are you here to arrest her?" One of the men said.

"I'm not the police." Supergirl said. "And from where I am standing it's not her that is causing problems." She said looking at the man by Alex and asking. "Want to explain why you are holding a knife and surrounding a kid?"

"She's a meta."

"So? Are you going to attack me because I'm an alien? Especially now your friends have gone."

"What?" He said turning and realising he was standing alone.

"Everyone is scared after what happened. But acting like Indomitable is not the way to heal." Supergirl said. "I suggest you find your friends and reflect."

Knowing he couldn't win the man muttered something and walked away.

"You two okay?" Supergirl asked turning to Alex and the girl.

"Sure." Alex said as the younger girl nodded.

"Good." Supergirl smiled before flying off.

"Thanks." The girl said to Alex.

"It's fine. You okay getting to wherever it is you are going?" The question causing the girl to look round nervously. "I'll walk you." Alex said before offering the leash to the girl and asking. "Want to hold Chewie, while we walk?"

00

"You okay?" Kara asked when Alex got home.

"I'm fine." Alex said letting Chewie off his lead before noticing a large amount of food on the kitchen table. "Want me to go?"

"Why?"

"Looks like you are having a party."

"I am. Well we are."

"What?" Alex asked confused.

"I'm so proud of you." Kara said hugging her before Alex guessed.

"You were there the whole time?"

"Not the whole time, but a good part of it."

"Why didn't you come and help?"

"Because you were doing fine." Kara said. "Besides I think you got the message over better than I could."

"I was scared."

"I know. But you did great." Kara said.

"Hey, Vasquez just told me what happened. You okay?" The older Alex said walking into the apartment.

"She did great." Kara smiled before suddenly looking into the distance. "Got to go." She said flying from the window.

"You really okay?" The older Alex asked her niece.

"Sure."

"What's wrong?" The older Alex asked her niece.

"You saw her. She's super excited."

"She's proud of you."

"What if she thinks this was my way of saying I want to be a hero?"

"Alex, your mom will be proud of you no matter what you do. She already is proud of you. Besides if you decide to just lead a normal life it will be way less stressful for her."

"I guess."

"So you really okay?"

"No. I was terrified. And there was no reason. I mean I had my powers so it isn't like they could hurt me."

"You have been through a lot recently, it will take time to get over everything." Her aunt said. "You still having nightmares?"

"Hasn't mom already told you the answer to that?"

"She doesn't actually tell me everything." Her aunt pointed out. "But I do know she is worried about you."

"I know." The teen said as Chewie started to jump up. "Can you feed Chewie while I feed the fish?"

"Sure." The older Alex smiled walking to the kitchen and taking out some dog food. She then looked down at Chewie and said. "Don't look so disappointed. I'm generous in my servings." She then put the bowl down and watched as Chewie wolfed the food down. As he ate Alex realised her niece had not emerged from her room. Getting worried she walked to the bedroom and knocked while calling. "Alex?"

Not getting a response she opened the door calling for her niece once more. As she looked into the room she saw Alex sitting on the floor hugging her knees.

"Alex? What's wrong?" She asked rushing to her side.

"I'm sorry." She cried her breathing laboured.

"It's okay." Alex said hugging her, wondering what was wrong.

"Focus on breathing." Her aunt said.

After a few minutes Alex seemed to calm and her aunt asked. "What's wrong?"

"I had a flashback and it was like I was back there with Indomitable and there was the spears and the pain-"

"It's okay. It's over." The older Alex said holding her tightly.

"No it's not. You saw mom, I don't want to disappoint her."

"You could never do that." Her aunt assured her as Kara entered the bedroom.

"What's wrong?" Kara asked moving to her daughter's side.

"I'm sorry." The teen said.

"I never meant to pressure you." Kara said as the older Alex slipped from the room.

"I just don't want to disappoint you."

"You aren't and I am sorry you thought you were."

"How am I not disappointing you? I am scared all the time. I have nightmares and I can't control my powers."

"Alex, are you disappointed in me?" Kara asked.

"Why would I be?"

"Because I'm scared and I have nightmares."

"You can control your powers."

"So can you." Kara said. "Look at your necklace. It's not activated, which means you stayed in control the entire time." She pointed out as Alex's phone rang. Seeing the caller ID Kara suggested. "Why don't you talk to Matt and we'll continue this afterwards?"

"Okay." The teen said.

"Love you." Kara said kissing her daughter's forehead and leaving.

00

"Is Alex okay?" The older Alex asked when her sister walked into her lounge a little later that evening.

"Yes, she's gone out with Kara, Diz and Martin." The older Kara said. "Thanks for looking out for her."

"Of course." Alex said patting the couch next to her.

"I feel so bad for not seeing it." Kara said sitting next to her sister.

"She's a teenager. They don't exactly communicate. I mean you still don't."

"Yes I do."

"So how are?"

"Fine."

"I rest my case."

"Do you think I have been pressuring her?"

"No. But I think it is hard to ignore that you are Supergirl." Alex argued. "She just needs time."
