"Director Danvers." Saffron Bell greeted as she walked into the office.
"Agent Bell. What can I do for you?" Alex asked looking up from her files.
"I come bearing gifts." She said putting some disks down on the desk.
"What are they?"
"Hopefully answers. Thanks to Mel Goodrich we have found some new locations of property associated with her family. When we searched we found computers. But the contents are encrypted."
"I'll get my team on it."
"Thanks."
"If you see Vasquez she may have more files for you." Alex added.
"Great. Can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"You think it is over and we are just clearing up the mess or do you think this is the tip of the ice berg?"
"Honestly, I don't know. There is nothing to suggest this isn't a clean up operation, but I have a bad feeling."
"You and me both." Bell replied.
"You hearing anything through your informants?" Alex asked.
"No. Nothing. It's too quiet. I have no reason for believing it, but I am sure a storm is coming." Bell said. "The question is, are the labs part of it or just a distraction?"
"I have no idea." Alex sighed.
"Was any other tech stolen from L-Corp by the shapeshifter?" Bell asked.
"Not that Lena has found."
"That's something I guess. Although if something had been stolen, maybe that would offer a clue about what we are dealing with." Bell said.
"You're right." Alex said standing. "But L-Corp is the only tech company out there and we know Maxwell Lord has been hit before. I am going to go visit him."
"Anything I can do?" Bell asked.
"Just keep us posted."

"Alien invasion? Brain washing?" Max asked when Alex was shown into his office.
"What?"
"I was just trying to work out why you were visiting today. I see no back up, should I be worried your conscience has stayed away?"
"I didn't come here to spar." Alex said.
"How about parenting advice? It probably isn't too late for them to stop making stupid decisions."
"We aren't discussing my kids." Alex said.
"Okay." Max said waiting for her to speak.
"I want to know if any of your tech has been stolen or replaced. Or if any employees have gone MIA."
"I assume there is a reason behind your question." Max said.
"We know shapeshifters have been targeting tech companies and stealing tech." Alex said.
"Lena lost something?" Max asked.
"Lena isn't the only one." Alex said stretching the truth.
"And if someone had taken my tech, why would I tell you?"
"So we can stop them."
"Except you don't like me so why are you trying to help me?"
"There may be a connection to Indomitable." Alex said.
"As in he's alive?" Max asked.
"Or wasn't working alone. You really want a human to go nuclear above the city?" Alex asked.
"No." Max replied.
"So you'll look?"
"I'll look, but this is a big organisation. It could take a while."
"I know. And there may be nothing missing." Alex said.
"I'll let you know." Max said.
"Thank you." Alex said.

"I come bearing gifts." Lena said walking into Alex's lounge.
"Is it food?" The older Kara asked.
"No, something much more useful." Lena said putting a box on the coffee table.
"Food is a basic for survival." Kara argued.
"True, but you have takeout for that. You don't need me. Where as for these you do." Lena said opening the box which had several watches in.
"You figured it out?" The older Alex asked.
"Yes, I have removed the flaw in the older version and they will no longer be fooled. I have also upgraded the way they work. Now, when they detect metas they gently buzz, when they sense shapeshifters they flash red. They still have the emergency alarm, which will also trigger at L-Corp, just in case." Lena explained. "The is one for everyone as well as Matt." She then looked at the older Alex and added. "New units are being delivered to the DEO as we speak."
"Thanks." Alex nodded before Lena looked at Mel.
"And one final thing, this is for you." Lena said passing Mel a business card.
"Who is Clare Browning?" Mel asked reading the card.
"The best lawyer in the city and now your lawyer."
"Does she need a lawyer?" MJ asked.
"Everyone needs a lawyer." Lena said.
"You have a very jaded outlook on life." The older Kara said.
"I can't afford a lawyer." Mel said. "At least not for another six years."
"I've taken care of it. Clare is expecting your call."
"Thanks, but I can't acc-"
"Mel I know better than anyone the burden of a bad family. Besides MJ needs to spend his time focusing on studying, not worrying about you."
"My grades aren't that bad." MJ argued. "But thank you."
"Are you staying for dinner?" Kara asked.
"No. And neither are you." Lena said.
"What?"
"I already have reservations." Lena said.
"For what?"
"Dinner." Lena said.
"At a salad bar?" Kara asked suspiciously.
"No. It has your heart clogging food."

"Lucy? What are you doing here?" Kara asked when she saw her friend in the restaurant.
"I was passing through the City for work involving L-Corp and Lena suggested I came to dinner." Lucy smiled.
"Everything okay?" Alex asked.
"It's fine. I just needed to make sure the legal framework for some new sensors was being adhered to."
"That sounds really dull." Kara commented.
"But while I was there Lena and I got talking and something is bothering me." Lucy said.
"Which is?" Alex asked.
"Why was dad poisoned? We thought it was to do with the journals. But then your mom told you they were much older than we thought so not linked to Indomitable. So why was he poisoned?"
"Has your dad said anything about the journals?"
"Not really. Only that he didn't share the contents with anyone. So if they are linked to Indomitable I don't see how. But if they aren't why was he poisoned?"
"You think we are missing something?" Kara guessed.
"Maybe. I don't know." Lucy said.
"I'll make sure we look at them again." Alex replied.
"Thanks." Lucy said. "And I am sorry."
"For what?" Kara asked.
"This. Just dumping everything on you. You should be on vacation after everything you did, not listening to my issues."
"We're friends. Friends listen to issues." Kara smiled.
"Yes they do, so how are yours?" Lucy asked.
"Was that a planned shift in direction?" Kara asked.
"No. So how are you?" Lucy asked.
"I'm getting there."
"Really? I heard about the babies." Lucy said.
"Life just seems really unfair." Kara confessed.
"Well whoever is behind them will pay." Lucy assured her.

"I thought you weren't investigating Kara's kidnapping." Lena said as she entered her friend's office the next day.
"She's my sister, of course I am investigating her kidnapping." Alex responded looking away from her screen. "I'm just not telling Kara that I am investigating her kidnapping."
"Found anything?"
"Nothing that connects it to Indomitable. But none of her captors are talking so who knows."
"What about the alien who helped you?"
"Krundy?" Alex guessed. "Turns out he wasn't completely honest with us. He did work for the guards, like he claimed. But he sold out other prisoners to do so. But two days prior he upset them and was thrown in the cell with the others. When we turned up he saw us as his best way to escape."
"So he wasn't involved?"
"No, he is just completely self serving." Alex said.
"Can't we use that?"
"He is telling us whatever he thinks we want to hear." Alex said. "Not the actual truth and we are wasting time following up his stories."
"Any news from Frax?"
"No, not yet."
"What can I do?"
"You have time?"
"Yes."
"Okay, well on this is everything we know about the labs." Alex said passing a tablet to Lena.
"And you need to know what they were doing and who was doing it?" Lena asked.
"And anything else we missed."
"Okay." Lena said sitting on the couch.
"You doing it here?"
"That way I can keep an eye on you." Lena said. "Besides when I find something it is easier to tell you if I am here."
"When did you become so optimistic?" Alex asked.
"What?"
"You said when you find something."
"Being good, isn't the same as being an optimist." Lena countered.
"I stand corrected." Alex said.
"How's Mel getting on?" Lena asked as she started to read the files.
"Seems way too together." Alex replied. "Which I don't know is because she doesn't want MJ to worry, or she is actually okay."
"What has MJ said?"
"That Mel okay and was never close to her family."
"It's possible." Lena said. "Did you want me to check in on her?"
"If you have time." Alex said before commenting. "You seem very concerned by Mel."
"She reminds me of me." Lena said.
