Baratta jennifer - they'll all need luck

As the group approached the car park, the rain getting heavier, Matt's father tried to offer encouragement to the group. As he spoke Alex heard a roar. As she looked up she saw a river of mud slipping down the incline straight towards them just as Andy shouted. "Run!"

Knowing the others wouldn't make it Alex passed Molly to Stan before she held her ground and erected a shield, trying to divert the mud flow. Seeing the mud deflect off the invisible barrier Jane commented.

"That's kinda cool."

"Move it." Andy ordered as Stan ran to safety with Molly.

"Come on!" Matt said to Alex.

"Go. I can't hold it for long." Alex said as another wave of mud came down the incline.

"We'll guide you back." Jane shouted over the roar from behind Alex. "We aren't leaving you." She added as Alex felt a hand on either shoulder.

"Go." Alex pleaded.

"Not without you." Matt shouted.

"Let me know when the others are safe." Alex said as she saw a huge boulder hurtling towards them. Concentrating harder she managed to block the boulder before seeing many more rocks heading their way.

"They at the car yet?" Alex shouted over the rain.

"Yeah, driving up the road now." Jane said before adding after a few moments. "They are high enough."

Hearing the others were safe Alex changed the forcefield to a smaller sphere, then encompassed the three of them and then waited as the rocks, branches, and mud hit it. Ignoring the sounds Alex tried to concentrate on keeping the forcefield up, but found it harder and harder to focus.

Finally the flow of mud and debris stopped and she heard Matt say.

"It's over."

Releasing the forcefield Alex dropped to her knees, only for Matt to catch her.

"I've got you." He said trying to help her to her feet, a task made easier by Jane giving support from her other side.

"We should get out of here." Jane said.

"How?" Matt asked looking round and not seeing any path, instead he saw a river of mud.

"There." Jane said hearing some shouting and seeing a bright light. Looking up the trio saw Matt's father and brother standing on the roadside higher up the cliff.

"How do we get up?" Matt asked.

"Could lift you." Alex said.

"We aren't leaving you." Matt said.

"Over there." Jane said pointing to Matt's father. "He has a rope."

"Have you forgotten gym class?" Matt asked as he and Jane helped Alex over the mud to where the end of the rope was waiting.

"Got to develop muscles at some stage." Jane pointed out as she started to tie the rope round Alex.

"What are you doing? You should go first." Alex said.

"Alex, you can barely stand. You go first." Jane said as she finished tying the rope just as Alex heard another roar.

Looking round she saw another wave of mud heading for them. Without thinking Alex used her powers to lift Matt and Jane up to the road just as she was hit with a wall of mud and sent flying backwards. The muddy water encompassing her.

"We couldn't get the new radios. What I thought was the drop off, clearly wasn't. We need to get to the DEO to pick up the radio." Cullen said as he approached the group of teens in the foyer of the theatre.

"Is that safe?" Diz asked. "I mean if there is a blackout couldn't they be under attack?"

"Or we are the target and we need to avoid the house." Cullen said. "Intel is key and the DEO is the only place we can get it from. But if it looks dangerous we'll head to Lena's lab."

"Is this normal for you guys?" Mel asked MJ.

"Yes, you get used to it." MJ shrugged.

"Okay, let's go." Cullen said leading them out of the movie theatre foyer.

"Doesn't look like an invasion." MJ said as they stepped onto the quiet street. "It all looks normal."

"Now you've jinxed us." Martin said.

"Let's get to the DEO." Cullen said leading the group towards two waiting SUVs, passing two police officers on patrol.

Just as they reached the car they heard some shouting from behind, turning they saw the two police officers had drawn their guns and were starting to shoot at members of the public.

"Go go go." Cullen ordered. The shout causing one of the officers to turn and to shoot at the group taking out tyres on both SUVs.

"We need to get to cover. That building." Cullen ordered pointing to an abandoned warehouse as a police car screeched to a stop a few feet away.

Seeing the police officers get out of the car and draw their guns Holland put himself between the youngsters and the police and shouted. "Go."

Nodding Cullen led the group into the old warehouse, but when Diz saw the police were following guns blazing he barked.

"Go. I'll hold them back."

"But-" Kara started to protest.

"Go." Diz repeated.

Nodding Kara ran after the others into a different room. Seeing a glint Kara launched herself at her brother hitting him as a crack was heard.

"Kara?" MJ as as he lay on the ground, his sister on top of him as Cullen dealt with the gunman.

"You okay?" Kara asked her brother as she sat up.

"Yeah." MJ said.

"No you're not. You are bleeding." Mel said to MJ who looked down and saw blood on his shirt. But lifting it up he saw no wound.

"Kara?" He asked, guessing where the blood had come from. Turning, he saw his sister slumped against the wall.

"Kara!" He cried as Diz rushed into the room.

"What happened?" Diz asked.

"I think she was shot." MJ said.

"LEOs are attacking the public all over the city." Rose said.

"How do we know?" Alex asked.

"There are still plenty of old CCTV cameras attached to the legacy wired networks. We kinda hacked into that."

"We need to shut down their radios. We need to jam the signal or block the waveform." Alex said. "Where do we need Supergirl?"

"Right now, the city. If she can disarm the police it will help." Vasquez said.

"Get her back here." Alex said to Rose.

"Yes ma'am."

"And tell her to remove the guns and radios from all LEOs."

"Yes ma'am." Rose said before radioing Supergirl.

"What's happening in other cities?" Alex asked.

"Hard to get a complete picture and not many cities can talk to us. But some have been hit badly, others not at all." Vasquez said as the Flash suddenly appeared.

"Hi." Alex greeted.

"Hi, need help?" Barry asked.

"Yes, we need every police officer in the city to be stripped of their radios and guns."

"Just this city?"

"Well potentially not." Alex conceded.

"Seeing Supergirl has this one covered, want me to head East?"

"YEs, but let me get you a safe radio first." Vasquez said as Alex said to her agents.

"We need to get intel."

"Alex!" Matt shouted as he dropped on the road. Scrambling to the edge he looked over and saw a river of mud wash over where Alex had been, dragging the rope down stream.

"Can you see her?" Jane asked over the rain looking over the edge.

"Can't see anything." He said.

"Help me." Andy shouted as he notice the rope coming loose.

"Got it." Stan said as he tried to secure it to the car.

"You two, help take the weight." Andy barked at Jane and Matt who grabbed hold of the rope, giving Stan enough slack to secure the knot.

"It's good." Stan said.

"Good, let's pull her up." Andy said. "Matt, see if you can see anything." He instructed as he started to pull the rope, ignoring the friction burn in his hands.

"I see her." Matt shouted, his voice full of relief as he watched the rope and Alex ascend. Once she was near the top Matt reached over and grabbed hold of her before pulling her over the edge and away from danger.

"She okay?" Jane asked rushing over but seeing and hearing Alex splutter she sagged with relief.

"Alex?" Matt asked as she continued to cough.

"You okay?" Alex spluttered.

"Me? You were the one who nearly drowned." Matt said holding her tightly.

"Come on, let's get home before things get worse." Andy said wrapping a blanket round Alex.

"Your hands." Alex said noticing the burns.

"They're fine." Andy assured her as Matt and Jane helped her to her feet.

"Molly?" Alex asked.

"In the car getting bored." Stan said. "Which means it is Disney songs on the way home." He added as he opened the back door.

"Can Alex sit next to me?" Molly asked from her car seat.

"Not this time Pumpkin." Stan said as Matt, Alex and Jane climbed into the back row.

"Here." Matt said handing Alex a soggy candy bar. "MJ said I always had to carry one for you." Seeing her hesitate he added. "You need to eat."
