Baratta jennifer - Matt's family still has a role to play before the end
"How's Kara?" Mel asked when the older Alex returned home.
"She'll need to stay in an infirmary for a while, but she'll be fine." Alex said.
"Then, could you talk to MJ? He's taking it really badly. He blames himself." Mel said.
"Where is he?"
"His room. He kinda locked himself away and nothing I do helps."
"I'll talk to him."
"Great, I'll walk Chewie and give you guys some space." Mel sad standing. "Don't worry I'll stick to my DEO tail."
"Before you go, you doing okay?" Alex asked her.
"I'm fine, just wish I could do more." The teen said leaving with Chewie. With Mel gone Alex jogged up the stairs to her son's room.
"MJ?" Alex called before entering his room. Seeing him lying on his bed facing the wall she called again. "MJ?"
"I'm sorry." He said looking round.
"For what?" Alex asked moving to his bed.
"Kara was shot because of me."
"What happened is not your fault." Alex said sitting next to him.
"I am the one sho should have been shot." He said. "She pushed me out of the way and took the bullet."
"MJ, Kara is your big sister, she will do anything to look after you." Alex said.
"What if she … "
"She is going to be fine." Alex said.
"What if she isn't?"
"If either of us really thought she wouldn't be okay, do you really think we wouldn't be in the infirmary with her?" Alex asked.
"You should be there regardless."
"I Think you need me more right now."

"How come Alex has different powers to you?" Jane asked as the group sat in the lounge that night.
"Little personal don't you think?" Stan asked Jane.
"It's fine. Alex's other powers come from her father. He wasn't Kryptonian or human." Kara explained glancing at Alex who had fallen to sleep against Matt.
"So both her parents are super powered. You are so screwed." Jane said to Matt.
"Is her father around?" Alison asked.
"No. He died before Alex was born." Kara explained.
"So you raised her by yourself? That must have been hard." Alison said.
"It had its moments." Kara said
"I can vouch for that. The two years I raised Stan by myself were the hardest of my life." Andy said.
"Thanks dad." Stan commented.
"Anyway, I should go." Kara said. "I didn't mean to interrupt your weekend, I just wanted to check Alex was okay."
"Nonsense, you can't leave now. We have plenty of room, you should stay." Alison said. "It is a long way back to National City."
"It doesn't really take much time to fly there though." Kara pointed out.
"Well, I insist you stay." Alison said. "I am sure Alex wants to see you."
"Okay, thanks." Kara smiled. "But I should check in back home first."

"Matt?" Alex asked opening her eyes the next morning.
"Hi. How are you feeling?"
"Good." She said looking round. "What time is it?"
"Coming up to six."
"In the morning?"
"Yep."
"Sorry." She said sitting up. "You must be really uncomfortable."
"I'm fine. More worried about you. How are you feeling?"
"Better than yesterday. Sorry I kinda slept though your birthday."
"You had saved my life so you have a good excuse." Matt smiled as he stood up. "Let's get some breakfast."
"Isn't it too early?"
"I have very strict instructions from your mom and my mom." He said as Alex stood. "You okay standing?"
"I'm fine." Alex said following him to the kitchen.
As Matt started to take out some food Alex asked. "Any more birthday traditions today?"
"You mean near death hikes? No. We're good." Matt said as Molly suddenly appeared in mid air. Quickly Alex caught her as Matt apologised.
"It's fine." Alex said as he put Molly on a chair.
"Shouldn't you be asleep?" Matt asked his niece.
"You're awake." Molly said.
"Future lawyer in the family." Alex smiled.
"Don't tell Stan that." Matt said as he gave Molly some juice before putting some cakes in front of Alex.
"You do remember I am not my mom?" Alex asked.
"You need the calories." Matt said. "Is what your mom said. And Molly wants you awake. But you can have a banana as well." He said putting some fruit on the table.
"Can we go out today?" Molly asked.
"No, you have to go home." Matt reminded her as the kitchen door opened.
"Have you seen-" Stan started to greet only to see his daughter. "Have you been using your powers?" When she didn't answer he looked at Alex and apologised.
"Sorry if she woke you."
"She didn't." Alex smiled.
"Good. You feeling better?"
"Yes thanks."
"Glad to hear it." Stan said before looking back at Molly. "Come on Pumpkin you need to finish your breakfast so we can go home."
"But I don't want to. Can't we stay?"
"No."
00
"Can't I go home?" A frustrated Kara asked her mother.
"Not yet." Alex replied.
"Why?"
"We need to make sure there is no infection."
"You could do that from home." Kara said.
"It is safer here." Alex countered.
"If you had been shot, you'd be home by now."
"Well, I am older and in charge." Alex countered as she noticed Diz suddenly stand up. Before she could ask why she heard a familiar voice say.
"Your mother believes in a different set of rules for her."
"Mr President." Alex said standing and facing him. "What are you doing here?"
"Seeing National City suffered most I thought I should spend some time here. And while I was here I thought I'd stop by the DEO and pass on my thanks in person. And seeing I am here I was hoping for a debrief, but that can wait."
"I'm ready." Alex said squeezing her daughter's hand once more.

"Can I come in?" MJ asked from the doorway.
"MJ? Doesn't this break your no hospital policy?" His sister asked from her infirmary bed. "How are you doing?"
"I wasn't the one shot." MJ said, still keeping his distance.
"You sure, cos your legs don't seem to be working right." Kara said. "Get over here."
As MJ approached Diz stood and said.
"I'm going to get some coffee."
"You really okay?" MJ asked his sister.
"I'm fine. Just a little sore and a lot bored."
"Thank you." MJ said.
"Why are you thanking me?" Kara asked.
"You were shot saving me."
"You know I'd do anything for my little brother." Kara said. "So how're you doing?"
"Fine."
"Not what Mel said."
"When did you talk to Mel?" MJ asked frowning.
"She has been messaging all morning. She's worried about you."
"I'm fine."
"No you're not. You are feeling guilty."
"Of course I am, you nearly died because of me."
"MJ, it wasn't your fault." Kara said. "And I don't blame you, so you shouldn't either. And if the same situation happened tomorrow I'd do exactly the same thing. But Aunt Kara was so right, this place needs a TV."
"I can offer you this." MJ said taking a tablet out of his bag.
"This is why you are my favourite brother." Kara smiled. "Want to stay and watch a movie with me?"
"Sure."

"Any more nasty surprises to come?" The President asked.
"I can't rule anything out." Alex sighed.
"Agent Bell." The President greeted.
"I'm sorry. I didn't realise you were here." The FBI agent said. "I'll wait outside."
"I assume you have something important to share?" The President asked.
"Yes Sir, we have reestablished control in all the prisons and we are missing prisoners."
"How many?" The President asked.
"Sixty seven in this state, including Lex Luthor."
"Lex is missing?" Alex asked eyes wide.
"Yes. My team is informing Lena Luthor as we speak."
"What about Supergirl?" The President asked.
"I'll call her." Alex said as several secret service Agents burst into the room.
"Sir we need to get you somewhere safe now."
"Why?" The President asked standing.
"One of Indomitable's metas has appeared. It is possible he will go nuclear."
"Is there a secure area here?" The President asked.
"I'd advise against that-" The secret service agent said.
"Director Danvers?" The President asked.
"Yes Sir, but Agent Tuffnell is right, you would be safer elsewhere."
"I'll stay." The President said.
"I'll get Supergirl." Alex said leaving the room.

"Hey, how are you feeling?" Kara asked her daughter.
"You're still here?" Alex asked confused hugging her mother.
"Yes, Alison insisted I stayed. Where is everyone?" Kara asked, surprised with how quiet the house was.
"Stan, Sarah and Molly left first thing. Andy and Alison went to the shops and Jane and Matt are walking the dogs." Alex said. "Are you okay?"
"Yes why?"
"You slept through a lot."
"It was a long day yesterday. For both of us."
"I'm sorry for -"
"You have nothing to apologise for. You did great out there." Kara said.
"Then why do you look so stressed?"
"There's something you need to know." Kara said.
"What?"
"When all hell broke lose in National City Kara got hurt-"
"How-" Alex cut in only for Kara to jump back in.
"She's okay. Or she will be with rest." Seeing the frown etched in her daughter's forehead she aded. "I promise you she is okay. But I am sure she would like to hear from you." Kara said as her phone buzzed. Reading the message she looked at Alex and said. "I'm sorry I have to go." She then hugged Alex goodbye and flew off.
