Baratta jennifer - She'll need more than just luck.
"How far out is back up?" Alex demanded in the control room as she watched her sister get hit with another weapon.
"At least ten minutes." Rose reported. "But they have an antidote."
"Only we don't know if it is the right one, there is a chance it will have the opposite effect from what we want." Alex said.
"Umm, they had the antidote."
"Had?" Alex asked.
"It just disappeared in a blur."
"The Flash?" Alex asked hopefully.
"We don't know." Rose said. "If it was the Flash we should know in less than a minute."

As the teenage Alex watched the news and the endless images of her mother getting beaten, whilst already in pain, Matt did his best to comfort her. But he found every gesture felt hollow.
"Why isn't anyone helping?" Andy asked just as they saw a group of people run towards Supergirl.
Fearing they were going to attack her mother Alex tensed until she saw them form a wall, protecting her mother from the meta.
"Finally." Jane said seeing the people swarm round Supergirl.
"No. This is bad." Alex said.
"How? They are helping her." Jane asked.
"If they get hurt mom will never forgive herself." She explained as she watched Thumper fire a bolt of electricity at someone in the group. Before it hit though Supergirl flew in front of the do-gooder and got hit in the chest, causing her to crumple to her knees, blood still pouring from her leg. Despite everything though Supergirl got to her feet before flying away from the crowd, trying to keep them from danger. But with the pain and blood loss she crashed into a building a fell to the ground.
As Alex watched the dust fly up from the impact she tried to bite back the fear as Matt held her tight.

Shaking off the nausea Kara tried to stand just as she felt a breeze. Looking up, despite the pain she saw a familiar face.
"I've got this." The newcomer said.
"Barry?" Kara said trying to stand.
"Seriously, stay down, I have it." Barry said before placing something against Kara's neck. "Sorry, but that should help. Well I hope it will. Should have checked with Alex first. Give it a minute."
"Wait." Kara said, her breathing laboured. "His powers are too strong, you can't do it alone."
"I know, I am buying time." He said before disappearing.
After a minute Kara, despite her body still feeling like it was on fire managed to stand and saw her friend lying on the ground a hundred meters away, screaming in pain.
"Alex those weapons work on metas as well." Kara said over the radio.
"The DEO squad will be there soon." Her sister replied. "Keep your distance until then."
"I can't. He needs help." Kara said flying over to Barry and picking him up before flying him to safety. As she put him down she felt a stabbing pain in her back. Looking over her shoulder she saw something stick out from her cape. Moments later pain washed through her body. "Something's wrong." She slurred over the radio before she fell on top of Barry.

"Where the hell is our team?" Alex asked.
"One minute out." Rose said.
"Supergirl doesn't have one minute." Alex growled as J'onn landed behind Thumper and wrapped his arms round him and flying him away from Supergirl and the Flash.
"Can't J'onn get hurt too?" The President asked.
"Yes." Alex said, feeling helpless as she watched the screen. "But he'll do whatever it takes." She added as the DEO team approached in several SUVs. As they neared Alex watched as J'onn started to phase in and out.
"What's happening?" The President asked.
"Whatever poison Thumper is using must be on him and J'onn has been exposed."
"If he is down how the hell do we get them back quick enough to treat them?" The President asked.
"I don't know." Alex said. "We can't risk any meta or alien." She added as she watched the screen that showed, despite the pain, J'onn clinging to Thumper as the DEO squad surrounded them.
"Shoot him." J'onn grimaced.
"What about you?" Mooney asked.
"Do it." J'onn gasped.
"Yes Sir." Mooney said as they started to fire at Thumper. Moments later Thumper and J'onn fell to the ground unconscious.
"Mooney." Alex barked over the radio.
"Yes ma'am."
"I wanted Thumper contained and isolated, but get Supergirl, the Flash and J'onn back here ASAP."
"Yes ma'am." He said.
Killing the link Alex turned and started to walk out of the control room.
"Where are you going?" The President asked.
"To help find a cure for what they were exposed to." Alex said. "And if the army have not handed over everything you won't need to fire any Generals." She added darkly.
"Vasquez." The President said.
"Yes Sir."
"Can you get me a secure link to General Dickens?"
"Yes Sir. This way." Vasquez said.
"Good, let's make sure the Director doesn't need to kill anyone." The President replied.

"What's happening?" Eliza asked when Alex rushed into the lab.
"Kara was hit by many different weapons, we don't know which. She is in a bad way."
"I know, I am monitoring her suit." Lena said.
"J'onn and Barry are also down so we have about thirty minutes until they get back here."
"She may not have that much time." Lena warned.
"I know." Alex said. "So where are we with antidotes and what can I do?"
"We need to set up more simulations." Eliza said.
"And there is a list of chemicals we may need, that you don't stock." Lena added.
"Okay." Alex said.
"And someone needs to call Alex." Eliza said. "Do you want me to do it?"
"No, you work on the antidotes. I'll do it." Alex replied.

"Alex, they are three minutes out." Vasquez said entering the lab.
"All isolation procedures set up?" Alex asked.
"Yes and the President has left."
"How did you manage that?"
"Used the word contagious in front of the secret service." Vasquez explained.
"That would do it." Alex said moving to the isolab where they would bring her sister.
"Before he went he was talking to General Dickens. And he is convinced the army has handed over everything."
"I kinda wished they hadn't, then at least we could beat them for a lead." Alex said as she started to put on a hazmat suit.
"Barry seems least badly effected by what happened. Although he is still out of it."
"That may be his metabolism rather than anything else." Alex said. "Or it could be what we thought was an antidote made made Kara worse."
"Alex, you sure you want to be here?" Vasquez asked.
"Yes, why?"
"Kara is in a bad way."
"I know, I can see the readings from the suit."
"She looks far worse than the readings suggest." Vasquez warned.
"All the more reason to be here." Alex said.
"Okay, I'll keep everything else under control so you can focus on things down here."
"Thanks." Alex said before putting on the hazmat helmet. "Let me know if there are any major developments."
"I will." Vasquez said before Alex went into the isolab and impatiently paced until the iso unit containing her sister was wheeled in.
As Kara was moved from the unit to the bed, despite the warning from Vasquez, Alex found herself frozen in shock as she saw her sister's grey and blistered skin, with her veins glowing green, as her raspy breathing rattled round the room.
"Blood samples have been delivered to Lena." One of the Agents said.
"Take a sample every thirty minutes." Alex ordered. "Changes could be important."
"Yes ma'am." One of the doctors said as technicians hooked Kara up to various sensors.
"Oxygen levels are dangerously low." Another doctor said as Kara's heart rate spiked.
"Do you want us to administer an antidote?"
"Not until we know what she was hit with." Alex said.
"All the retrieved weapons are being placed in the lab." One of the Agents reported.
"I want updates every minute." Alex said as Kara stopped breathing.
"Get her on a ventilator." Alex barked as the doctors got to work.
