Ch 5 Brotherly Bonds

As Dogo and his Pack prepared to attack Kovu leapt out from the bushes and slashed Dogo as hard as he could in Dogo's face, sending the male jackal sprawling to the ground. "You want my brother you're gonna have to go through me to do it!" Kovu growled.

"Oh that will be my pleasure," Dogo hisses as he got to his feet, glaring at Kovu. "Kill them both!" With that Dogo's Pack attacked, taking both Kovu and Kopa to the ground all of them biting and clawing.

"Kovu you need to get out of here!" Kopa cried out as he shoved two jackals off of him.

"I'm not leaving you!" Kovu shouted as he swiped Dogo away from him.

"Think about Safara!" Kopa cried out as he ducked to avoid Endela's attack. Endela went crashing into Uovu, who was coming to help her. Both jackals went crashing to the ground. But Kopa's victory was short lived as two more jackals tackled him to the ground, swiping at his already injured side, tearing it wide opened.

"Yes," Cala cackled as she watched the fight. "This is going exactly the way I want it to. Its a shame that Kovu couldn't stay out of it. I really don't want him to die but I can't have him go back and tell Jasiri what I've done. Its just a damn shame that poor Safara will have to raise that little cub all by herself. But she'll be alright and we'll all be so much better off without Kopa in our lives." With that Cala let out another cackle and continued to watch Kopa and Kovu get get beaten senseless by Dogo and his Pack. But just then Cala heard roaring. Looking over the rusty brown lioness saw Simba and his Pride running towards them. "Shit I gotta get the Hell out of here," Cala growled as she turned and ran off before Simba and his Pride saw her.

"Dogo!" Simba thundered as he and his lionesses subdued Dogo and his jackals. "You've caused trouble in my lands for the last time! I warned you the next time you attacked in the Pride Lands the punishment would be death!"

"Do it Simba," Dogo growled. "Kill me. But is it really worth the lives of Kovu and Kopa." Dogo nodded towards the badly injured Kovu and Kopa, who were lying motionlessly in a pool of their own blood. Simba's eyes widened in horror and Dogo used this distraction to break free of Simba's grasp and hightail it back to the Outlands with the rest of his Pack right behind him.

"They're barely alive!" Kiara was saying, her voice shaking with emotions as she tried to stop the bleeding.

"Safara went to get Rafiki," Zira informed Simba. Just then Safara came running along with Vitani. Rafiki was on Safara's back.

"Oh dear dis is not good," Rafiki muttered, shaking his head as he examined Kovu and Kopa.

"Please tell us they're going to be alright," Jasiri said, her voice shaking as she struggled not to cry. Asha went up to the rust brown lioness and nuzzled her. But inside the light gold lioness was struggling not to lose it as she watched Rafiki try to save both her boys. After what seamed like hours Rafiki was done.

"How are my boys?" Asha asked with a sniffle.

"Dey will be just fine in time," Rafiki informed the group, who let out sighs of relief. "However dey lost a great deal of blood and young Kopa is worse off because of de injuries he had previous received."

"Can we move them?" Jasiri asked.

"If you are vedy careful you can move them," Rafiki said. With that the group nodded and carefully got underneath Kovu and Kopa and very carefully carried them back to Pride Rock.

A little while later the group was back at Pride Rock and Safara was laying down next to Kovu and Jasiri was laying next to Kopa. "This is terrible," Chafu said, shaking his head. "Who would do such a thing?"

"It was Dogo," Safara said with a growl. "Him and his damn Pack did this. But that's not the worst part." But before Safara could continue Cala came onto the scene.

"I just heard," the rusty brown lioness said, making sure she put as much fake concern in her voice. "How are they?"

"Oh don't even pretend you care," Safara spat out, glaring at Cala.

"Safara what in the world are you talking about?" Cala asked, pretending to be offended.

"I'm talking about..." Safara began. But she was interrupted by Jasiri's loud scream.

"Help!" the young lioness cried out. "Kopa stopped breathing!"

"I'm on it!" Kiara cried out as she leapt into action.

"I'm getting Rafiki!" Nuka cried out as he sprinted towards the exit. But to his surprise he saw Rafiki running into the cave.

"I had a feeling I would be needed," the old mandrill said as he shooed the rest of the group outside the cave and went to work to revive Kopa.

TLKTLKTLK

As the group waited outside Cala was brooding. The rusty brown lioness wasn't happy that Kopa was still alive and she was trying to think of a way that she could finish him off without being noticed by anyone. Cala was soon snapped out of her thought by someone loudly clearing their throat. Looking over Cala saw Safara standing in front of her, glaring at her. "Why are you looking at me like that?" Cala asked.

"Oh you know exactly why I'm glaring at you," Safara growled. "How could you do it Cala? How could you betray your own family like this?"

"I have no idea what you're talking about Safara," Cala said, acting like she was confused.

"You know damn well what I'm talking about Cala!" Safara shouted, startling Cala. Her shouting got the attention of the rest of the group, who all came over to see what was going on.

"What happening here?" Simba asked. "Safara why are you shouting at Cala?"

"Because she's a traitor!" Safara cried out. "She's working with Dogo and his Pack!"

"That's absurd!" Cala cried out, pretending to be outraged. "I would never do such a thing!"

"Liar!" Safara snarled, baring her teeth at Cala.

"Whoa there calm down Saf'," Jasiri said, getting between her mother and her friend. "My mother would never do such an evil thing."

"I saw her Jasiri!" Safara snarled. "Me and Kovu saw the whole thing from the bushes! I went to get help while Kovu went to help Kopa. And Cala was there the entire time and did nothing to stop it! She even lured Kopa into that trap. I heard her say that she hates Kopa and would never allow him to live long enough to marry you Jasiri!"

"Mom is this true?" Jasiri asked, looking at Cala with wide brown eyes.

"Of course not!" Cala cried out. "Safara is clearly lying! I would never hurt Kopa!"

"Why would Safara lie about this?" Simba asked, giving Cala a look.

"Yeah," Chafu chimed in. "Safara has never had any problem with you Cala. What could she possibly gain from making up such a huge lie about you?"

"And you can ask Kovu when he wakes up," Safara piped up. "And Kopa. They'll confirm what I've been telling you!"

"Oh who cares right now?!" Kiara cried out, causing everyone to look at her with surprise. "Kopa might not ever wake up! Or have you forgotten that Rafiki was working on getting him to breathe again?!"

"Of course we haven't forgotten that," Nuka said, nuzzling Kiara. "We're sorry Ki'. We didn't mean to make it sound like we didn't care about Kopa." Kiara buried her face in Nuka's mane as the tears rolled down her face. Nuka began to say something. But before he could Rafiki emerged from the cave, looking very tired.

"Rafiki how's Kopa?" Kiara asked as she ran up to the old mandrill with Jasiri and Asha right next to her.

"Yeah you were able to get him breathing again weren't you?" Chafu asked. Rafiki looked at the grey coated lion for a second before her turned back to Kiara. Then he opened his mouth to respond.
