Ch 9 More Good News
The next day Kovu and Safara were back in the main cave along with little Kinte. To their surprise they saw Kijana and Mpenzi and their girls there along with Moto, Maweha, Chana, Kuato and Fauti. "We heard about your cub being born Kovu," Kijana said. "I hope its alright that we came."
"We can come back later if its not," Mpenzi said. "I know how tiring newborns can be from these two." Mpenzi nodded towards her two month old daughters when she said this last part.
"Its fine Mpenzi," Safara said with a smile. "You guys are always welcome."
"Ohh I wanna see the baby!" Mwali cried out.
"Me first!" Changa cried out.
"Nuh uh me first!" Mwali cried.
"No me!" Changa cried out.
"Girls!" Kijana cried out, causing his daughters to stop. "That's enough! Keep this up and you'll go straight home and not get to see the baby. Am I clear?"
"Yes Daddy," the twins said together. "We're sorry Daddy," Mwali said softly. "But can we still see the baby?"
"Of course you can," Safara said with a smile. "But you can't make to much noise. Babies get scared really easily." With that Safara moved her paws so that Mwali and Changa could see Kinte better.
"He's so cute," Mwali whispered with a giggle.
"And little," Changa chimed in as she smiled down at the newborn.
"Soon that'll be our cub everyone is fussing over," Nuka whispered to Kiara as he rubbed Kiara's slightly expanded belly.
"I can't wait," Kiara whispered back.
"Me either," a familiar voice said. The group looked over and saw that Kopa was awake and smiling at the group.
"Kopa!" Jasiri cried out as she and Kiara ran over to Kopa and nuzzled him.
"We were so scared we were going to lose you," Kiara cried out.
"Sorry I worried everyone," Kopa said with a slight laugh.
"We're just glad you're gonna be alright buddy," Chafu said, patting Kopa gently on his back.
"Thanks buddy," Kopa said with a smile. "But what's this I hear about you two having a cub?" Kopa looked at Nuka and Kiara when he said this part.
"You're going to have another niece or nephew," Kiara said, rubbing her belly with a giggle.
"I'm really happy for you guys," Kopa said with a smile.
"And Kovu and Safara had their cub," Kiara said with a smile. "They had an adorable baby boy."
"Wow," Kopa said, his voice coming out very soft. "I really missed a lot. How long was I out for?"
"Almost a month," Kovu said, coming up to Kopa with the help of Chafu and Asha.
"Kovu!" Kopa cried out, his eyes lighting up. "You're alright!"
"Yeah I'm good bro," Kovu said with a smile as he slowly lowered himself next to Kopa. Kopa embraced his brother, who gladly returned the affection. Then Kopa noticed that Kovu had a tiny tan bundle on his back.
"Is that your son?" Kopa asked.
"Yeah," Kovu said with a smile as he gently took Kinte off his back and placed him between Kopa's paws. "Kinte meet your Uncle Kopa," Kovu said softly. "Kopa meet your nephew Kinte."
"Hey there little guy," Kopa said, looking down at the tiny cub with a smile. Kinte looked up at his Uncle with wide eyes before letting out a yawn and snuggling into Kopa's chest fur. "He's so cute," Kopa said, licking Kinte's head. After looking at Kinte for a few minutes Kopa looked over at Jasiri, who smiled big at him. "Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to have a cub of my own," Kopa thought as he gazed down at Kinte once again. Then he shook his head. "That blow to the head must have scrambled my brains," Kopa thought. "I can't punish some poor innocent child by having me for a father. But I do think its time I marry Jasiri. She's been loyal to me all these years and I love her more than anything. When I'm better I'll tell her I want us to have a wedding as soon as possible." With that Kopa talked with Kovu about Kinte and all the exciting things to come.

Two more weeks past and Kopa was healing nicely as was Kovu. Kovu was healed enough that he could walk on his own. Jasiri and Kopa had been talking every day and they had decided to have their mating ceremony as soon as Kopa was able to stand on his own. They had also been talking about Cala and her evil deeds. Jasiri had been having a really hard time dealing with what her mother had done. Kopa was debating on rather or not to tell Jasiri that he was reconsidering not having cubs when they heard Shida having a heated whispered discussion with her daughter, Binti. "Mother this whole thing is insane!" Binti hissed, her brown eyes stormy. "And you can forget about getting anything from me!"
"Some children I've got," Shida growled. "Well if you're not with me then you're against me."
"Fine with me," Binti growled. "Because until you come to your senses then I want nothing to do with you!" With that the beige lioness stormed away from Shida.
"I wonder what Shida is up to?" Kopa wondered.
"Who knows?' Jasiri said with a shrug. "Her and Mtunga have been super pissy ever since my mother got banished." Just then Shida walked past Jasiri and Kopa, grumbling to herself. When she walked past Kopa she shot him a slight glare and "accidently" kicked some dirt in his face.
"Hey!" Kopa sputtered, spitting out the dirt that had got in his mouth.
"Oops," Shida said, trying to sound sincere. "I'm so sorry Kopa. Didn't mean to do that."
"Its alright Shida," Kopa said. "No harm done." Without saying a word Shida nodded and left Kopa and Jasiri alone.
"Weird," Kopa said, shaking his head. But the creamy brown lion decided not to say anything more about and went about enjoying spending time with Jasiri

A few more weeks past and Kopa was deemed fit to stand on his own and he and Jasiri were having their mating ceremony. "This is a wonderful day," Kovu was saying to his brother. "You and Jasiri are finally getting married."
"Its about damn time too," Nuka said with a smile.
"Yeah glad to see you finally got your head out of your ass buddy," Chafu said, putting his paw around Kopa.
"Yeah I guess nearly dying finally knocked some sense into me," Kopa said with a smile. "And tomorrow Kinte gets to venture out on his own."
"Ugh don't remind me," Kovu groaned. "My little boy is growing up way to fast for my liking." Kopa was about to say more when Simba came in and told the group of males it was time for the ceremony. Taking in a deep breath Kopa walked out of the cave with his friends right behind him. The other males went to sit with their respective mates while Kopa went up to Jasiri, who was waiting with Rafiki. Kopa smiled big at his love and she returned the smile. Rafiki then began the ceremony. When it was finished Rafiki waved his sick over them and officially declared them to be mates for life. After nuzzling each other for a few minutes Kopa and Jasiri went to their friends who all nuzzled them in celebration.
"I'm so happy for you little brother," the heavily pregnant Kiara said as she nuzzled her brother.
"Thanks sis," Kopa said with a smile. Kiara was about to say more when suddenly she let out a cry of pain.
"Kiara what's wrong?!" Nuka cried out, running over to his mate.
"I...I think I'm in labor," Kiara panted. Then another pain ripped through her, causing her to cry out once again. "Oh I'm definitely in labor!" Kiara cried out.
"We better get you inside," Nuka said, going to the side of Kiara.
"No there's not time!" Kiara shouted as she layed on the ground. "Oh ugh! This cub's coming! And I mean right now!"
