Ch 13 A Huge Problem
Jasiri ran until her lungs started burning. After catching her breath the rusty brown lioness began to run again. Only this time she was hit with a wave a nausea and she quickly ran to the bushes and lost her lunch. "Ugh not again," she groaned as she lifted her head from the bushes. "Are you alright 'Siri?" a voice behind her asked. Spinning around Jasiri saw Vitani and Zira standing there, both lionesses having concerned looks on their faces.
"Oh yeah I'm fine," Jasiri said, embarrassed that Vitani and Zira had seen her get sick. "Just a little stomach bug."
"You sure?" Vitani asked, the concern clear in her voice.
"Yeah," Jasiri said with a smile. "I'm sure. But we do have a major problem here! Cala and Dogo are plotting to kill Kopa."
"Again?" Vitani groaned, rolling her amber eyes.
"It gets worse 'Tani," Jasiri said. "They've recruited Shida and Mtunga and they're not only planning on killing Kopa but they're planning on taking out the entire Royal Family and taking over the Pride Lands themselves!"
"Like Hell they are," Zira growled, her ruby eyes flashing with anger. "I'll teach those traitor bitches a lesson they won't soon forget." With that the Queen turned to head into the Outlands.
"Mom are you insane?!" Vitani cried out, jumping in front of her mother. "Are just suicidal? You can't take on Dogo and his Pack alone."
"Vitani they can't be allowed to get away with this!" Zira growled. "So I'm going to show them what happens when you threaten my family!"
"Then I'm coming too!" Vitani declared.
"Absolutely not!" Zira cried out. "You're pregnant Vitani. You could hurt your unborn cub."
"Well if you're so Hell bent on going then I'm coming with you," Vitani declared. "I'm not about to let you go into a situation where you could get hurt or worse without backup. You'd do the same thing if the roles were reversed."
"Same here," Jasiri chimed in.
"Very well," Zira said. "I know when I'm beat. I won't go in alone."
"Thanks Mom," Vitani said, nuzzling her mother. Just then she let out a groan. "Ugh I think I'd better head back," the tan coated Princess said. "This cub is really kicking up a storm in there."
"That's a good idea," Zira said with a smile. "Simba and the others need to be informed of what's happening." Vitani and Jasiri nodded and without another word the three lionesses headed back to Pride Rock.
TLKTLKTLK
When Zira, Jasiri, and Vitani returned to Pride Rock they were instantly met by a concerned Simba, Chafu and Kopa. "Jasiri!" Kopa cried out, running over to his mate. "Where have you been?! You just disappeared without so much a word. I've been really worried!"
"I'm sorry honey," Jasiri said, nuzzling Kopa. "But I followed Shida and Mtunga. I suspected they were up to no good and I was right."
"What do you mean Jasiri?" Simba asked, giving the rusty brown lioness his full attention.
"I followed them and they went into the Outlands," Jasiri explained. "And they were meeting with my mother, Dogo and his Pack and plotting on taking down not only Kopa but the entire Royal Family."
"What?!" the group cried out. Just then a cry echoed through the air.
"Ugh great I just got her to sleep," Kiara groaned as she rocked Mflame back and forth. "Shh there now its alright sweetie. Mommy's here. Go back to sleep."
"We should probably take this outside," Zira whispered. The group nodded in agreement and exited the cave.
"Jasiri are you sure about this?" Simba asked once they were outside the cave.
"Yes King Simba I'm 100 percent sure," Jasiri said with a nod.
"I knew those bitches weren't really sorry," Kopa growled. "When I see them I sware I'm gonna..."
"Do nothing," Simba interjected. Kopa blinked in surprise.
"Daddy you can't be serious," Vitani piped up, the surprise clear in her voice.
"Yes Vitani I am serious," Simba said. "We need to play this smart. If we confront Shida and Mtunga right away then we would be giving up our advantage."
"Simba I don't know if I can keep calm around them," Zira said.
"I know how you feel Zi'," Simba said, nuzzling his mate. "But we've got a golden opportunity here. If Shida and Mtunga aren't aware that we know what they're up to then we can keep an eyes on them and know exactly what Dogo is planning."
"I can help," a lioness with a light tan coat and blue eyes said. "Me and Mshirka can pretend we're on their side and gain info that way."
"Thank you Zote," Simba said with a smile. "But you've got to be careful about how you do it."
"Yeah you can't be to obvious about it," Vitani piped up.
"Kop' you ok?" Kovu asked, looking at his brother.
"Yeah," Kopa said with a sigh. "I'm good 'Vu. I just can't believe all of this. I thought everything was going so well and that the Pride was forgetting about all the horrible things I did when I was possessed by Kion. But I guess I was wrong."
"You weren't wrong Kopa," Zote piped up. "Shida and Mtunga don't represent all of us."
"That's right," Mshirka chimed in. "You have more than proven yourself to us and we know how sweet, kind, and loving you are." The rest of the lionesses nodded in agreement, which made Kopa smile.
"Thanks everyone," the creamy brown lion said softly. Just then Kopa felt someone nuzzle against his leg. Looking down Kopa saw Kinte there, a smile of his face.
"You're the best Uncle ever," the tan coated two month old said, wrapping his paws around Kopa's leg. "Me and Mflame are real luck to have you for an Uncle." Kopa couldn't help but smile as he bent down and nuzzled his nephew, who purred happily in response.
"I'm the lucky one," Kopa said with a smile as he licked Kinte's head. Just then Shida and Mtunga came walking up the side of Pride Rock. Kopa let out a slight growl when he saw them but he quickly regained his composure and made his face go blank.
"Well what's this?" Mtunga asked. "Having a Pride meeting without us?"
"Of course not," Simba said. "We were just discussing the recent attacks by Dogo and his Pack."
"Any new developments?" Shida asked.
"None," Zira said with a growl. "Its so damn frustrating."
"Well we'd better get going," Jasiri said suddenly, rubbing up against Kopa. "Kopa and I are going to take a walk and we'd better leave now if we're going to be back before dark." Without waiting for a response Jasiri and Kopa left, heading for their walk.
TLKTLKTLK
A little while later Jasiri and Kopa were near the river's edge. "Kopa I know this is hard for you," Jasiri was saying. "Its hard for me too believe me. But King Simba is right. We can't let Shida and Mtunga know we're on to them just yet."
"Yeah I know," Kopa said with a sigh. "And I can fake nice. I've done it a million time before and I can do it again."
"I know you can," Jasiri said, nuzzling Kopa. Then she looked up and saw that the sun was beginning to set. "We'd better head back."
"Good idea," Kopa said. With that the couple turned to head back. But suddenly Jasiri stopped dead in her tracks. "What's wrong 'Siri?" Kopa asked.
"I...I'm not sure," Jasiri said softly. "All of a sudden I feel dizzy. I..." But before she could continue suddenly her eyes rolled back in her head and Jasiri passed out cold.
