Dear Diary,
Well, it has certainly been quite a long time, hasn't it? The last time I wrote in you, I was in New York, and Odalia had just exposed the Demon Realm's existence to the world, giving a set of odious lies that I won't even bother repeating here to try to provoke the United States into invading the Demon Realm. Thankfully, Luz and I thwarted her scheme by revealing the truth of the Demon Realm to the world, including Luz's magic. The months that followed were certainly tumultuous, to say the least. I got my memories of the previous two years temporarily taken away from me, I was shot in the bile sac and lost my ability to do natural magic, and Odalia killed a lot of innocent people to try to get to me.
But Odalia ultimately failed. She's now locked in the Conformatorium, in a coma, stuck experiencing the abuse she gave me during my childhood on an endless loop, and she will never, ever regain consciousness on my watch. She was discredited, her partner is serving a lifetime sentence in prison, and relations between the Human and Demon Realms are surprisingly good now. That's not to say that they're perfect. Far from it. There've been terrorist attacks and some minor skirmishes and there's still a hell of a lot of hatred. But it's not the apocalyptic reckoning that we all feared it would be.
Unfortunately, the news is not so good as regards to you. Please don't get angry with me, but I kind of left you behind in my hotel room when Luz and I went to expose her magic…seven years ago. Yeah. Sorry about that. It seems that you got picked up by a housekeeper and changed hands a lot, finally resurfacing somehow being sold on something called eBay. When Emira found out, she was furious. I didn't ask for details for the sake of plausible deniability, but her clothes were stained with blood when she got you back from whoever was selling you. Honestly, I can't bring myself to be too bothered. When I think of all the people who've read you without my permission, it makes my blood boil.
Anyway, let's not dwell on the past. No, wait, scratch that, we actually have to dwell on the past for the stuff I'm going to be writing about to make sense. Well, the last seven years have been nothing less than perfectly lovely. After turning 18, Luz moved to the Boiling Isles and we moved in together! We have our own house! (Technically speaking, it's a palace, but that's just for legal purposes; it's really just a regular house, nothing special.) No, actually, now that I think about it that's not quite accurate. We have a home. A home that isn't Bright Manor. A home that doesn't belong to someone else. A home where I live with the love of my life.
Our friends and family are prospering too. King continues to rule with a surprising amount of justice and prudence. (Though he's apparently in an "emo phase," according to Luz.) Camila lives in the Boiling Isles now with her spouses Eda and Raine. Eda isn't prime minister anymore. The prime minister now is a member of the Traditionalist Alliance, but at least it's not Boscha's mom, who got caught murdering one of her political rivals and is now serving thirty years in prison. And anything is better than Prime Minister Hooty, whose sixteen hour reign as prime minister ended with the first and no doubt last unanimous no confidence vote in the Boiling Kingdom's history.
Uh, yeah, but I'm getting off track. Eda runs a shop selling human antiques, essentially a more legitimate version of the stall she used to run back when she was a fugitive. Raine is still in the Bard Coven, but they stepped away from leader to focus more on their music. And Camila works for the Healing Coven, trying to use human medical technology to cure Demon Realm diseases and healing magic to heal Human Realm ones. She's spearheaded some major innovations there and saved a lot of lives. But despite her extremely important job, she always has a moment to make time to give me advice when I need it, or to help me through my insecurities, or just to chat about anything.
Luz is constantly in touch with her human friends. Avery lives in the Isles with their wife Eileen and works as a sort of half-cryptozoologist, half-treasure hunter. Their adventures sound as confusing as they are badass. Caroline and her husband Sean live in the Human Realm, where they work for a foundation that helps immigrants from the Demon Realm adjust to the Human Realm. It's a noble but thoroughly thankless job. There's still a lot of hostility towards demonic immigrants, sadly enough, and many of them are the target of hate crimes. Though, to be fair, the same can be said for human immigrants in the Demon Realm.
Vee and xyr wives Willow and Clara, Luz's one-time bitter enemy but now close friend, have their own home in downtown Bonesborough. Clara is teaching human science at Hexside, and it's certainly made quite a splash to say the least among the students there. Vee is a member of the parliament, known for xyr fiery speeches in defense of sentient rights. Unfortunately, xyr status in the parliament is not as high as it used to be, being the one and only individual to abstain from removing Hooty from office. (You may well ask, Diary, how Hooty became prime minister in the first place. You will have to keep asking that question, for I will never tell.)
But it's Willow's job that's easily the coolest and most important. Willow is part of a joint team of NASA scientists and Plant Coven members who are working on terraforming Mars! It's not going to be an easy task, and it's not going to be finished within my lifetime, sadly enough, but it's said that our children's children may live to see it happen. Already, the terraforming effort has led to an actual manned mission to Mars. Willow wasn't part of that mission, but I have it under good authority that she's on the short list for the next one! I'm so jealous of her. What I wouldn't give to go to space.
Gus lives with his queerplatonic partner and wife (at least on paper) Skara, though their relationship is strictly emotionally based, not physical. Skara is a noted singer, popular in both the realms, and Gus is an up and coming member of the Illusionist Coven. I don't see them very often since they're both so busy, but they're both extremely happy.
Edric teaches illusions at Hexside, Edric's husband Hunter – yes, that Hunter, the Golden Guard; fate works in mysterious ways – works for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs full time now, and he's the personal assistant to the ambassador to New Zealand. Thankfully all embassies and consulates are equipped with a portal, so Hunter can commute each afternoon from Wellington to Bonesborough with no issues.
Emira runs Bright Industries, which has mostly moved completely away from weapons in favor, for the most part, of transportation. Human innovations like cars and trains have caught on here in the Demon Realm, especially since our variants of them run completely on the ambient magic of the Isles. No environmentally unfriendly gasoline for our cars! Naturally, Bright Industries isn't the only company that sells these things, but ours are unquestionably the best value for money. Emira's wife Viney heads the marketing department, and she's proven to have a real knack for selling innovations from the Human Realm with a special demonic twist.
But the cars and trains don't compare to the most important, at least to me, division of Bright Industries: Bright Airlines. That's right. We run the most highly regarded transdimensional airline out there. With the help of miniaturized portal devices, we run routes to various destinations in the Human and Demon Realms. You haven't lived, Diary, well, at all, but certainly not until you've been on a plane that traverses dimensions. I have…
…BECAUSE I'M A PILOT!
That's right, Diary! I am a pilot for Bright Airlines! I'm living my dream, flying planes every day, helping bridge the gap between our two realms. Odalia would have been appalled to see her daughter doing something so plebian, and that just makes it even better. I had worried that flying planes wouldn't live up to the hype, but oh my Titan, Diary, it so does.
This morning, I was in Heathrow Airport in London, and I was thinking to myself that life just doesn't get any better than this. I'm in the Human Realm, living the life I want, having an amazing girlfriend waiting for me at home, and I'm the person I've always wanted to become, the person I never thought I could be before I met Luz. And then my musings were interrupted by the sound of a child crying. I immediately rushed over to the gate where the noise was coming from. A young human girl, probably no older than six, was crying, looking very scared.
"Hey, is everything all right over here?" I said casually. If she was scared of her parents, I knew all sorts of ways to kill people without anyone knowing it was me.
"Everything's fine," the girl's father assured me. "Stephanie's just scared of flying." I believed him. I'd seen kids who were scared of flying before, and now that I looked more closely, Stephanie was definitely showing all the signs.
Stephanie looked over at me and her eyes widened. "You're a witch…"
"Stephanie!" her mother chastised her. "It's rude to say things like that."
I gave a reassuring smile. "No, no, it's fine." I moved my hair back so Stephanie could see my pointy ears. "She's right! I am a witch! I'm Captain Amity." I held out my hand for the girl to shake. After a few moments, she took it. "I'm not flying this plane, but my good friend Captain Wilbur is, and you're in awesome hands with him." I leaned down to her level. "You know, I get it. I was scared too when I first flew in an airplane."
"You were?" Stephanie asked incredulously. "But you're a witch. You've got all sorts of cool powers…like the Good Witch Azura!" I nodded approvingly at her. One excellent thing that had come out of Luz's sudden celebrity was the fact that the Good Witch Azura series was now internationally famous and probably more popular than Harry Potter.
"Well, yeah, but it was so loud and scary!" I admitted. "But you know what? I was fine in the end, because I knew I was with people who love me, and that airplane accidents are really, really rare, sweetie. They hardly ever happen." I smiled at Stephanie. "You know, the Good Witch Azura got scared too. When she was in the Labyrinth of Forever, she feared she'd never get out. But she listened to her heart and she managed to escape. The important thing is…facing your fears…"
Stephanie frowned. "Captain Amity?"
I shook myself out of my stupor. "Uh, yeah, like I was saying, it's gonna be fine. Hey…wanna see some magic?" Stephanie's eyes widened and she clapped her hands together. "Okay. I'm gonna need you to close your eyes and concentrate. I'm gonna make a quarter appear behind your ear." Of course, it wasn't true magic I was using, just stage magic, slight of hand. But when I made the quarter appear to manifest behind Stephanie's ear, she was duly impressed.
"That wasn't real magic," Stephanie's father whispered to me accusingly.
"Sorry, I can't do real magic here," I responded. "It's not allowed." All airports were warded against glyph magic and all forms of natural magic as well to prevent terrorist attacks. "I'm sure you understand." I turned back to face Stephanie. "Are you feeling better now, sweetie?"
"Uh-huh," Stephanie said with a nod. "Thank you, Captain Amity."
In the course of my work, I've met plenty of humans. Some of them are very friendly. Others are still wary of the new species interacting with them. And unfortunately, a considerable amount of them are still openly hostile towards us. But never have I ever encountered a single child that didn't feel anything less than total awe at interacting with a real life witch. It's a wonderful thing to see. I always go out of my way to talk to the kids on the flight before we take off, to reassure them that everything is going to be fine, that I've flown interdimensional flights dozens of times, and that, maybe, if they're really lucky, they'll get to see actual dragons flying! (That last one only happened once, but it could happen again. I can't say for sure it won't.) It's the best part of my job.
Everything is just coming up roses for me, Diary. That's a human expression. I don't understand what it means. Maybe it's related to that Hanahaki disease Luz mentioned? But that doesn't make sense, since it's a positive thing. Oh, listen to me ramble. Good night, Diary.
Yours faithfully,
Amity Bright
Dear Diary,
So I'm in Bonesborough in my home again after another long day's work bringing passengers from Luz's realm to my own. And it's time I faced a truth I've kind of been avoiding talking with you about, Diary. When I listed my friends and family, you may have noticed one thing they all had in common: they all got married. Hell, even Gus is married, and he's asexual, and Hooty is married too, to a sentient house in Colombia named Casita. But Luz and I haven't.
There's a good reason for it too. At least, that's what I've been telling myself. In order to get married in the proper human way, I need the blessing of Luz's parents. Camila isn't a problem. I have no doubt that when I ask her, she'll say yes. But there's a slight problem in getting Eduardo's blessing: he's been dead since Luz was six.
Fortunately, there's a workaround. During the summer before magic was revealed to the Human Realm, Luz was trapped in an alternate dimension where a variant of Eduardo was still alive. True, he's not the same person as the dead version of him in my reality – he married Eda and never even met Camila – but he's still the loving father of a Luz Noceda, even if it's not my Luz Noceda. In any event, Luz mentioned once that he considered himself her father, despite their different dimensions, so it still counts.
I've been working for the last seven years to open a stable portal to the In Between Realm, a realm between dimensions where one could speak to people in any dimension one so chose. This ambition has sounded hopeless to a lot of people, but I know for a fact that it's not. In the alternate dimension, Luz successfully used the In Between Realm to communicate with someone in her home dimension. So it's definitely possible!
"Are you sure this is going to work?" I asked my partner in crime, as it were, Avery's father Steve Harrington, as he drew a glyph in a circle of stones about a hundred miles away from Bonesborough. Once, the journey there would take at least two weeks and be highly dangerous. Now it took less than a day by train and was completely safe. That's progress for you. Steve has become an expert in interdimensional transportation in the last few years, and since his alternate self helped Luz make a portal between realms, he seemed like the best choice to help me.
"There's no way this can possibly fail," Steve bragged. It sounded very impressive, until you took into account the fact that he's said that no less than twenty-seven times over the last seven years. But still, it wasn't as if I had a better idea myself. "I found this glyph in a codex buried in a secret vault beneath a church in Vladivostok. You know, as one does."
"Quite," I said, unable to tell if he was being sarcastic.
Steve laughed softly. "No, but in all seriousness, I have a really good feeling about this one." He sighed. "But…if it doesn't work…"
"We agreed a decade of trying," I reminded him. "I'm not a quitter."
"Sure," Steve said immediately. "And I don't welch on my deals. Not to mention the advantages we can get from cross-dimensional communication are just staggering. But still, Amity, there's no shame in giving up. You don't have to get his blessing. There is no way Luz is expecting you to get it."
He was right. I knew he was right. But I didn't get to where I am today by giving up or ever backing down, and, yes, that included the times when I really should back down. "This conversation is a moot point," I argued. "After all, there's no way this can possibly fail, right?"
I worried for a second I'd gone too far, but Steve just threw back his head and laughed. "Fair enough! Let's see if this bad baby is gonna work!"
He stomped his foot down on the glyph and immediately, the sacred stones started glowing a vibrant cyan color. I flapped my arms in excitement. It was working! Nothing we'd ever done had actually come anywhere close to working before, although we did accidentally open up a portal to my planet's moon once (which nearly killed us before we could close it).
A cube appeared in the center of the circle. I pressed on it and said the words "Eduardo Noceda," concentrating specifically on the variant of him that Luz had met in the alternate dimension. A spike of pain erupted behind my eyes, and I nearly passed out, but then there was a flash of light and Eduardo Noceda – the man, the myth, the legend – was standing in front of me.
Eduardo's eyes widened when he saw me. "Oh my God. You must be Amity Blight. Am I right?"
I flinched. It had been so long since anyone had called me by that contemptible surname. "It's Bright now," I said harshly.
Eduardo nodded. "My apologies. You're all right, then? The radiation has faded?"
I furrowed my brow. "Radiation? What radiation?"
"My lucecita said that when she was in your realm, in your future relative to my present, the United States nuked the Boiling Isles." My blood ran cold, because that we had come disturbingly close to that scenario. It probably would have happened too if we hadn't exposed Havik's crimes, revealed Luz's magic to the world, and a variety of other things the other Luz probably never would have even thought of doing.
"We stopped that future from happening," I informed him and Eduardo breathed a huge sigh of relief. "It was close, but we stopped it. The Demon and Human Realms live in harmony now…more or less."
Eduardo gave a huge grin. I could tell that the thought of the two realms living in harmony had long been a dream of him. "Magnificent! So I presume you made a portal to the In-Between Realm?" I nodded. "Your Luz always spoke well of your creativity and tenaciousness when she was here. She's doing well?"
"Oh, yeah," I assured him. "She's a published author now. She's written memoirs about her time in the Isles as well as her own original YA fantasy series." I cleared my throat. "The reason I brought you here is because I wanted to ask for Luz's hand in marriage. I know we've never actually met before, and you're not, you know, her actual father, but you're the closest thing I got. There are many reasons why I'd be an excellent wife to Luz. Firstly –"
Eduardo put up a hand. "Amity, you figured out a way to punch a hole through dimensions to get my blessing. Even if I knew nothing else about you, that alone would make you worthy of my daughter. But I happen to know that Luz was head over heels in love with you during the time we spent together, and I have a hunch that has not changed. So of course you have my blessing, nuera que será."
I reached out to give him a hug and my arms went straight through him. Damn it. He was completely intangible. Well, there had to be a catch somewhere, didn't there? "Thank you," I whispered. "Thank you so much."
"Can I talk to her?" Eduardo said eagerly.
"We've decided not to let Luz know about the results of this experiment until we can be sure of the portal's stability," Steve informed him. Eduardo jumped, not having noticed Steve before. "It would be cruel to give her hope just to take it away. But once we've put it through a battery of tests, yes, you'll be able to speak with her on a regular basis."
"That's great!" Eduardo said with a huge grin that looked so much like his daughter's, it was scary. "Oh, I can't wait to talk to her. Thank you for helping Amity out, Steve. I really appreciate it." Steve nodded, looking awkward. In Eduardo's reality, they were good friends, but in this reality, the two of them had never met.
He took a deep breath. "Amity, can I ask why you wanted my blessing? I mean…you had Luz's mother's blessing, right?" Eda was the biological mother of Eduardo's own child, not Camila. "Wasn't that enough for you?"
I sighed. "Yeah…I've been stalling. I know I have. The truth is…uh, Steve, could you give us some space?" Steve gave me a thumb's up and walked away. "I'm scared! I'm scared she'll say no. And I know how silly that is! But it's just like Grom all over again!" (Luz still doesn't know she was my Grom crush and I'm pretty certain she never will.) "I cockatrice out every single time!"
I was disgusted with myself. I was looking weak in front of the Eduardo Noceda, Luz's father, who, despite being dead in her timeline, played an astoundingly vital role in making Luz the person she is today, even though he only was with her for such a short time. He'd see straight through me! He'd know I was never worthy of his daughter.
"Oh, cariño, how I wish I could touch you right now," Eduardo said mournfully. "Words just seem so insufficient sometimes. But, Amity, I promise you, you have absolutely nothing to worry about."
"But what if she finally sees me for who I am?" I said, desperation flowing through my voice. It reminded me of how I acted after having asked Camila for Luz's hand in marriage way back when I was fifteen, in a desperate move to tie Luz closer to me so she wouldn't leave me when she saw through my façade and saw just how scared I am all the time. "I'm her daughter. After all the horrible things she did, how could Luz see me as anything else?"
Eduardo nodded slowly. "I assume by her, you mean Odalia Blight. Yes, she was a nasty piece of work in my universe too. Amity, you are not your mother, and the reason I know this is because you are worried that you are. If she bears the slightest resemblance to the Odalia I had the displeasure of knowing briefly, then she never doubted her morality once. You are a good person. You are not your mother."
"I condemned her to a fate worse than death," I admitted. "It had to be done…at least that was what I thought. But I could have killed her. Instead, I chose to make her suffer."
"What's done is done, Amity," Eduardo said gently. "We can only move forward to the future. I believe that you will make an excellent wife for Luz, just as you have made an excellent girlfriend for her all these years. If you cannot trust in yourself, then trust me."
I nodded. He was right. "I'll try. Thank you so much for your blessing, sir. I'll strive every day to be worthy of it."
"I know you will," Eduardo said. "I wouldn't have given it otherwise."
I called Steve back to the stones and we closed the portal. I was very impressed with the integrity of the spell. Many tests still have to be run, Diary, but I really don't see any reason why we won't be able to have regular contact with Eduardo's universe from now on.
And with his blessing, I can finally done what I've been delaying for far too long. I'm going to propose marriage to la luz de mi vida. Wish me luck, Diary!
Yours faithfully,
Amity Bright
Dear Diary,
YOU ARE TALKING TO THE FUTURE AMITY NOCEDA!
But it sure didn't go the way I thought it would. Here's how it all went down.
I knew that I absolutely had to have an incredibly massive romantic gesture for the proposal. It was completely nonnegotiable. The problem was that people kept on raising the bar for romantic proposals. Here's how some of the proposals of my loved ones went down:
Edric's proposal:
*rides in on a unicorn with the pelt of a Titandamned lindwurm on his back*
Hunter, you are the most important man in my life. You are the sun in the morning and the moon in the evening and a peanut butter sandwich in the afternoon. I love you more than any man has loved another, and I would be honored if you would be my husband.
Hunter: Oh. Wow. Lindwurms. *proceeds to faint; once he regains consciousness* Oh, yeah! Yeah, I'd love to marry you, Ed!
Willow and Clara's proposals:
Willow: *fills seventeen square miles worth of desert with flowers* Each one of these flowers is beautiful to me, Vee, but they pale in comparison to the beauty you have. I want, more than anything, to spend the rest of my life with you.
Clara: And I feel the same way! I don't have any fancy magic to give a grand gesture with, but I promise I'll do everything in my power to give you the love and affection you deserve.
Vee: Yes! Yes, yes, yes!
Gus's proposal:
*slams a bunch of pamphlets down on Skara's table* Look at all these tax benefits we could get if we got married!
Skara: Awesome!
Okay, maybe not that last one. But the point, Diary, is that Luz is exceptional, and she deserves an exceptional proposal. So I gave her one! At least, that's what I thought. So I had Hooty kidnap Luz in an owl pellet and take her to the destination I picked out for her. Turnabout is fair play after all. I'm still annoyed that he kidnapped me back when Luz was trying to get the two of us together. It's cosmic justice that he did it to her this time. Unfortunately, it came at the cost of Hooty going on a ramble about how he proposed to Casita, but in the cause of love, I will endure much.
When Hooty released Luz, it looked like…drumroll please, Diary…she was on Mars! Of course, she wasn't actually on Mars; the terraforming, like I said, isn't anywhere close to being done. But a lot of data was gathered on the manned Mars missions, enough for Em and Ed to use a combination of their illusions and holograms from expensive computers that I had Eda…borrow, and make it look like she was on Mars! A layman like Luz would never have known the difference.
Unfortunately, that proved to be a rather large mistake.
"I'm on Mars," Luz whispered as she looked around her surroundings. I was hiding nearby under an invisibility glyph. "Oh my God, I'm on Mars!" A horror stricken look came on her face. "Oh, giraffe, I'm on Mars. I must have fallen through a time pool into the future!" She started looking like she was panicking. "Everyone I love is dead!"
She started crying and that was when I quickly dispelled the glyph. "No! No, everyone's fine! I just…I just giraffed up, that's all." I snapped my fingers, and Ed and Em broke the illusion. "Oh, Luz, I'm so, so sorry. It was all just an illusion…I meant for it to be something special for you."
"Special?" Luz said, sounding confused. "But it's not my birthday. It's not our anniversary, it's not a holiday, I think…"
"I was going to ask you to marry me!" I blurted, and then my whole face went red.
Luz looked awed. "You…you were? Oh, no! You were giving this grand gesture of love, and I ruined it! Oh, Amity, I'm so sorry. You…really were gonna pop the question?" I tilted my head. I didn't know what she meant by that. "Oh, yeah, that means propose. I'm kinda surprised…I thought you weren't interested in getting married."
"No," I told her. "I just…was too scared to do it. And why not? Like you'd ever wanna marry me…"
Luz's mouth dropped open. "Amity, I've wanted to marry you for ages! Do you know how many times I've wished I had the courage to finally ask you? I even bought you a ring! Why wouldn't I wanna marry you?"
"Silly reasons," I admitted. "I'm trying to think better of myself…but it's not easy."
"Well, we can still salvage this," Luz said perkily. "I've got a plan!" Normally, that was cause for a great deal of alarm, but this time, I decided to trust my awesome girlfriend, especially since she'd just admitted she still wanted to become my awesome fiancée.
I followed Luz to an ice scream parlor not too far from our house. Luz went behind the counter and talked to the clerk there for a few minutes. I waited patiently at a table. When she came back, the two of us just talked about our lives, like it was just a normal day. Soon enough, the clerk brought a cup containing cookies and scream flavor ice scream, my favorite. "There's a surprise in one of the eyeballs, sweetheart!" Luz said with a wink.
I gamely poked through one of them while Luz looked away (she still had trouble getting used to the whole eyeballs thing) and was not all that surprised to find a ring inside! I knew this was a traditional human symbol of engagement, but it was still surreal to finally be holding one in my hand. "Amity Bright, you are the best girlfriend any gal can have," Luz said, her voice tender. "When I first met you, I really didn't think anyone could ever love me in the way you do now. But you proved me wrong over and over again. You are my soulmate, and I love you more than anything else in the world. My awesome girlfriend, would you do me the honor of becoming my awesome wife?"
"YES!" I shouted, and leaned in and kissed Luz. It felt just as amazing to kiss her now as it did the first time.
"FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!" the patrons shouted. As you well remember, Diary, it is traditional for mock fights to be held as a formalization of an engagement. It's not legally required, and we can get married without it, but it is expected.
Luz put up a hand. "In my realm, we have a test of strength known as arm wrestling! We'll be doing that instead!" I had never heard of this. Was this something Luz had made up? It did sound like something she'd make up, but then again, I've said the same thing about a lot of genuine human things.
The two of us placed our arms on the table, bended the elbows, firmly gripped our hands, and tried to force our arms to the table. Each of us fought with all of our strength, neither one of us willing to give an inch. "You know, I've been practicing my oracle magic lately," Luz said casually.
"Oh, yeah, Noceda? You foresaw you going down?!"
"Oh, no," she said cheerfully. "I foresaw that you'd have something on your lips."
I had no idea what she was talking about. "What something?"
"THIS SOMETHING!" Luz shouted and leaned in and kissed me, and in that moment of distraction, she brought my utterly unresisting arm down to the table to cheers from the crowd.
"You cheated," I accused her, but not with much vitriol in my voice.
Luz gave a seductive laugh. "Oh, mi batata, haven't you heard? All's fair in love and war."
So now you know the whole story behind the engagement, Diary! Now all I have to do is plan the most epic wedding in history! Or maybe I'll get Edric to do it. Yeah. That sounds like a better plan.
Yours faithfully,
Amity Bright
