Taylor sobbed happily, grinning as she clung to her mother's cold metal body. It would heat eventually, coming up to normal human body temperatures, when it was fueled and alive enough to power the endless inscriptions inside its body without external help. It didn't matter though, Taylor couldn't make out or say anything, she wouldn't be able to for a while but she could feel her moms arms wrap around her and hold her.

For the first time in so so long. Far too long.

Annette shivered and a quiet groan escaped her as she pet Taylor. Where were they? Why were they there? Why was Taylor soaked in red? Why did Annette feel. So cold, so hollow, so stiff? Instinctively she shuddered and glanced down, staring at the silver sheen of her body. She was in the politest terms a strange silver golem. In more proper terms she was a soul puppeting a mannequin.

Knowledge of how her body worked, why it worked flooded Annette's mind. A shockwave of revulsion shot through her. The last thing she recalled was indescribable lance's of pain through her chest, the feeling of speed and inertia, the sound of wailing sirens. Just looking at her body, Annette vaguely understood what had happened.

Annette Hebert had died. A semi truck had slammed into her car as she was on the phone with Taylor. Kinetic force had pulped her body on its own let alone what all the metal, glass, and plastic had done for her. She was dead, departed, and she should have been elsewhere.

Where, Annette could not say for certain.

But she had heard Taylor's voice and followed it, bringing her into this vessel. It bound her soul and have her a means to feel and interact with the mortal realm. Normally a soul escaping from its afterlife was a thing that would be near impossible and heavily punished. A punishment levied typically on the escapee but in the case of such necromancy, the summoner would be punished. The thought infuriated Annette naturally but the fury she felt was unnatural. How dare any God or devil think of laying hands on her daughter? How dare they?

Taylor hiccuped and made some noises that were incomprehensible, squeezing Annette gently. Annette smiled and kept Taylor in her arms as she stood slowly. It was then she noticed the clothes she was wearing. Like a bolt of black silk just wrapped around her with inticrate black embroidery that blended in and hid with the silk. It was a fine garment sort of that didn't seem like something the Heberts could afford.

Then again Taylor had stolen her soul from the afterlife. Why couldn't she feel anything other than a flicker of joy at that? Not as much joy as the matter deserved and completely bereft of feelings that should be associated. Annette should at least have been shocked about it, resurrection was not a thing for humans after all.

Thoughts for later.

For now Taylor had to get to bed, tucked in, soft and comfortable. So Annette moved towards their home, hoping in her heart that Danny hadn't deigned to move away. Knowing Danny though that was a near impossibility.

Taylor, her Taylor, needed support now and Annette had to be there even if it meant burning away her memories. She had left Taylor alone for far too long, stewing in guilt and loneliness. Death should not have been an obstacle for a mother, not an obstacle for the truest, purest love that anyone could have.

Yes Annette had so much to ask Taylor and to do for Taylor.
