Being a gym leader has a lot of perks. As Misty would find out, it meant that you get to see a lot of them if you do well…

Misty was smiling ear to ear as she was holding an envelope in her hands, stamped with an official Pokémon League seal on it. "Look, Togepi, our first paycheck for our job as a gym leader!"

"Togepree!" Togepi chirped as she waved her arms.

Misty quickly opened it and pulled out the cash that was inside. "I think we should go on a little shopping spree, huh Togepi?" Misty said.

"Toge toge!" Togepi said, loving the idea that Misty had.

"I do need some things, so maybe we could head out today if the gym doesn't get too busy…" She smiled before heading to the gym in order to open it for the day's challengers…

But unfortunately, it does have a cost, as when challengers come around, she would have to face them…

Outside of the door to the gym, Misty could see a line full of people who were wishing to battle her for a gym badge. "Oh my…" she said. "One moment, please," she told the trainers waiting outside for a gym battle before heading to the back of the gym with Togepi. "Well, it looks like we aren't going to get our shopping done today…"

"Toge…" Togepi said, looking a bit down.

That was when Misty got an idea. "Maybe you can go and get what I need on your own."

"Pree?" Togepi asked as she looked up at her mother.

"I think it will be pretty valuable, Togepi," Misty said. "You will get the chance to get out of the gym and help me out."

Togepi started to like the idea of doing something for mom, even if she wasn't around. "Toge-toge!" Togepi chirped, willing to help her mom out while she is busy.

"Perfect," Misty said.

Just then, a flash came out of her pocket, and Psyduck came out of his Pokéball. "Psy?" Psyduck said as he titled his head, wondering what was going on between Misty and Togepi.

"Oh hey, Psyduck," Misty said, "I was just asking Togepi if she was okay with getting some shopping done. Is it okay if you accompany her?"

"Psy," Psyduck said.

"I will take that as a yes," Misty said as she handed Psyduck and Togepi two things. "This is the list of things that I need and where to get them," she said as she handed the list to Togepi, "and this is the money for you to buy them." She handed the envelope to Psyduck. "Come back to the gym when you are done, and if you are not back before I am done, I will come and get you."

"Toge/Psy!" both Pokémon said before they headed out.

Misty Chronicles OP1:
"I Ain't The Same, I'm the Power"
Lyrics by TheGlassyGuyArt
Vocals by Rachael Lillis (as Misty)

(Lyrics

Accompanying Visual)

I feel the change in the air, I'm feeling so alive
On a blue background, a silhouette of Misty's feet appears, and zooms up her body as the lyrics continue.
My heart is beating faster, higher than a kite
When it reaches her face, it zooms out and reveals her whole body.
I ain't the same, I'm something new, I'm something bold
Misty pulls out a Pokeball and throws it, a flash of light appears
I'm feeling the power, I'm never getting old!
The logo for "The Misty Chronicles" appears as it transitions to the first verse.

I ain't the same, I'm way much more,
Misty is shown running alongside a river, her Goldeen jumps out and wags her tail before falling back into the water.
My spirit's got the power to open every door!
Staryu jumps out of the water and spins before it too falls into the water.
"Giving up" was never in my dictionary,
Psyduck suddenly pops out of his Pokeball. Misty stops running as Psyduck falls into the water.
My power has been reborn, and so I have been!
Misty sighs as Togepi, who was in her arms, just chirps happily and claps
I'm on a mission to live my life right,
Misty is now facing off against another trainer, as Politoed cheers her on by clapping.
Spreading love and light with all of my might,
Misty sends out Corsola as it makes a pose.
Gotta rise up high don't be afraid to fall,
Horsea and Starmie are swimming behind a glass wall, giving happy expressions as if they are happy to see Misty again.
The courage within me is gonna carry all!
Gyarados swims straight up in front of the Pokemon as it cuts to Misty on the battlefield

OH YEAH, I AIN'T THE SAME BABY!
Misty sends out all of her Pokemon as the chorus starts up.

I ain't the same, I'm the power and younger!
Goldeen jumps up and uses a Horn Attack
I am the victory, feeling so much stronger!
Staryu and Starmie use Water Guns to form arcs as Misty makes a pose in between.
Oh yeah, I ain't the same,
Togepi shakes her arms back and forth like a metronome to the beat.
Oh yeah, I ain't the same!
Psyduck shakes his booty in front of the camera.
I ain't the same, I'm the motivation.
Horsea uses a Smokescreen attack to cover the whole screen.
I'm the heartbeat, born for inspiration!
Corsola clears the smoke by using a Spike Cannon attack.
Oh yeah, I ain't the same,
Politoed claps along to the beat.
Oh yeah, I ain't the same!
Gyarados pops out of the pool and unleashes an attack
I know in my heart I can do anything!
Misty and all of her Pokemon are seen together as the song ends.

On a cerulean blue background, the episode's title appears in white text as Misty Read it out loud:

PSYDUCK'S BAZAAR ADVENTURE

The Cerulean City Marketplace was a small shopping square in Cerulean City. It was not much compared to the bigger shopping centers in places like Celadon or Saffron, but it was a good place for shopping to get done for the folks of the Cerulean City. And it appeared that a lot of people had decided to come here today.

"Toge," Togepi said as she looked at the amount of people who were there. She and Psyduck were wearing lanyards with Cascade Badge-shaped paper at the end to mark them as belonging to the Cerulean City gym. She then looked at the list that her mama gave her, then up at the shops. She then pointed to one of the shops before grabbing Psyduck's hand and walking towards the shop, not aware they were being watched by a pair of mysterious figures…

"Hey, aren't those the Pokémon of the Cerulean gym leader?" one of them asked.

"Looks like it," the other one said.

"Imagine if we managed to get our hands on them…" the first figure said.

"Yeah," the second one said while they both laughed and made their plan to get the two Pokémon…

Meanwhile, Misty was starting to battle the challengers who had come to her gym for a battle, and things were just starting to heat up…

"Pidgey," Misty's first opponent said to his little bird, "let's start this battle off with a Quick Attack!"

"Politoed!" Misty told her frog Pokémon. "Use a Mega Punch attack!"

"Poli…" Politoed said as he charged up a punch before hitting the Pidgey just as it came close, causing Pidgey to be flown backwards, while shouting, "TOED!"

"Pidgey!" the trainer Misty was facing explained as he rushed to his partner's side.

Togepi and Psyduck walked out of the store with all of the things that they needed. It was a lot easier than expected. When the two Pokémon walked up to an employee, they showed them that they belonged to the Cerulean Gym and were out running errands for Misty, and they were given the things that Misty needed in exchange for some of the cash.

"Toge toge!" Togepi said as they walked out of the place, with Psyduck carrying the bags because he was the bigger of the two and her arms were way too small. She probably meant that she enjoyed the experience so far.

"Psy," Psyduck said as the two of them headed out into the streets and towards the next shop, not knowing that their little trip would take a turn…

"Rattata, attack!" a voice said as Togepi stopped and turned around, wondering where the voice could be coming from.

Just then, a purple rat came charging at Togepi and Psyduck, hissing mad.

"Toge! Toge!" Togepi said while trying to get the attention of Psyduck.

"Psy-ay," Psyduck said, ignorant of what was going on. But his attention would soon be gotten when Rattata used a Quick Attack on the Duck Pokémon! "Psy!" Psyduck said as he suddenly dropped the bag he was holding upon impact. That forced him to look at what Togepi was pointing to, and the two of them saw a pair of trainers dressed in black, and they did not look like they were good people at all.

"Looks like we got our targets," the first person said to his partner.

"It sure does," the second person said as Togepi cowered inside of her shell, scared as to what the two people would do to them.

"Rattata, use a Bite attack!" the first person said to his Pokémon, who attacked Psyduck again, this time using his teeth. Ratatta jumped up and bit Psyduck right on the head!

"PSIGH!" Psyduck cried out in pain as he started to run around wildly. He soon started to run away from the two would-be thieves and Togepi.

"Well, one out of two isn't that bad," the second thief said as he picked up Togepi, not seeing that she was starting to wave her arms back and forth.

"Yeah," the first one said as he picked up Psyduck's bag of dropped goods, "and maybe we can make use of whatever is here…" The two of them looked inside, still unaware that Togepi was about to unleash her Metronome attack onto the two unsuspecting would-be criminals.

"AGH!" they both said as they dropped the Pokémon and the bag. Fortunately, nothing was damaged, so Togepi ran off in order to search for Psyduck…

Misty was facing another challenger, their battle going smoothly so far for both sides.

"Alright then, Goldeen," Misty said, "hit 'em with a Horn Attack!"

Goldeen dove into the water before jumping out before hitting her opponent, Machoke, in the skin. However, Machoke didn't seem to feel any pain from Goldeen's attack.

"Ma…" Machoke said as it took Goldeen out of his skin and threw Goldeen onto a platform, instantly knocking it out on impact.

"You did well, Goldeen…" Misty said as she returned the Pokémon to her Pokéball. She stared at the Pokéball for a few minutes, wondering how Togepi and Psyduck were doing on their little run.

Meanwhile, Psyduck was still running around the Cerulean City Marketplace, with Rattata still holding on tight using his teeth. "PSY-IGH-IGH-IGH DUCK!" Psyduck cried out as he ran through the streets, banging his head in an effort to try and get Rattata off, even if it meant making his headache even worse. The people with stands and shops could only watch on as Psyduck ran, trying to deal with the headache.

"Toge!" Togepi said, running as fast as her little legs could carry her. It was hard to catch up with Psyduck, especially since she was carrying all of the things that he dropped. "Togepi!" she said as she had to stop to catch her breath for a little bit.

"Hey!" she heard a voice say. She turned around and saw a pair of figures chasing her. Oh great. It was THOSE people again, and they were probably trying to get them.

"Toge!" Togepi said as she started to run off again. But the two thieves had longer legs, and thus were able to catch up to the Spike Ball Pokémon rather quickly. "PREE!" Togepi cried out.

"Looks like we have got you now you little…" But before he could finish his sentence, a berry suddenly flew into his face! "What the?"

More berries came flying towards the crooks as Togepi saw that Psyduck was uncontrollably using his psychic powers to send berries from a stand towards their attackers. They dropped Togepi again as she ran off towards Psyduck, who was already running off again, Rattata still clinging onto his head.

Meanwhile, the would-be criminals were sitting on the ground in a daze. "What is up with that Psyduck?"

"And how do we stop it?" As the two thought about what happened, a woman walked up to them. And she did not look happy as she was holding a broom, ready to strike…

"YOU BERRY THIEVES!" she shrieked as the two criminals gulped.

"Uh, look, it wasn't us," the first one tried to reason.

"Yeah, it was that Psyduck who attacked us…" the second one said.

But the lady wasn't having any of it. She beat the two of them silly with her broom. "You two better pay for my ruined produce, as you two obviously did it based on your faces!"

The challenges had been tough so far, but Misty was willing to push through them, and as the number of challengers was winding down, she was sure to make every one of these last couple of battles count…

"Okay, Growlithe," this opponent told his Pokémon, "let's use a Flamethrower attack!"

The Puppy Pokémon spat flames out of its mouth to hurt the Pokémon that Misty was using in this battle, Gyarados. Gyarados didn't seem to take any damage from the attack, and simply stared his opponent down. And without being told to, Gyarados unleashed flames out of his mouth!

"Unbelievable…" Misty said as she watched her Pokémon. "Gyarados can use a fire move?" She smirked. That would be very helpful for when she had to deal with Grass Pokémon.

Psyduck's headache continued to grow worse and worse as Rattata continued to bite onto him with no intention of letting go. Psyduck continued to bang his head, which caused the headache to grow worse and his psychic powers to grow even more out of control. Togepi tried to catch up to him, but he was still running like crazy and his psychic powers were making a complete mess of the marketplace, to the point where Togepi was wondering if it was even safe to try and continue chasing after him. Merchandise was flying everywhere and hitting anyone in Psyduck's path.

"Toge…" Togepi said, tears swelling up in her eyes a little bit. She was now trying to look for a place to hide from all of the chaos. Through the tears, she was able to see a little shop with a strange person standing in the window. The person was wearing a mainly yellow shirt with a blue collar and button, a red area around the midriff, and shorts to match. She decided to go into that store to check it out. Wiping off the tears, she headed inside and looked at the strange lady. "Toge?" Togepi asked. No response. Togepi walked up to the strange person who didn't seem to be responding and touched her skin. It certainly didn't feel like human skin. "Toge toge?" Togepi said, very confused as the person didn't respond when she was touched by Togepi.

"Why hello there, little cutie," she heard a voice say. Togepi turned around and saw a woman wearing a purple uniform marking that she worked at this store. "What are you doing with the mannequin?"

"Toge," Togepi said as she tilted her head and tried her best to explain what was going on, even if the waving of the arms and incomprehensible babbling made her look more cute than desperate. That was when the woman saw Togepi's lanyard and looked at the paper on it.

"I am going to go and call your mama," the woman said as she made her way to the phone.

Pretty soon, Misty managed to battle all of the trainers who had come to her gym for a challenge. She managed to win some, but she was also forced to hand out a badge for being defeated in some of the battles. However, even though she expected Togepi and Psyduck to be done by now, they still were not back at the gym.

"Oh no," Misty said as she stood in the lobby of the gym, "what has happened to them? Did I make a mistake in letting them go out by themselves?" She rushed towards the gym lobby and was about to head towards the Cerulean City Marketplace in order to try and reunite with her Pokémon when she heard something.

"Ring ring ring! Ring ring ring! Phone call! Phone call!" the video phone rang. "Ring ring ring! Ring ring ring! Phone call! Phone call!"

"Who is calling me?" Misty thought as she went to go and answer it.

"Ring ring ring! Ring ring ring! Phone call! Phone ca—" Misty picked the phone up and put it to her ear.

"Hello?" Misty asked.

"Hi, this is Glycine, calling from Glycine's of Cerulean Marketplace," the voice on the other side said, "calling to tell you that your Togepi ended up in my store."

Misty sighed in relief. Someone found her baby, and she was alright. "What about Psyduck?" she asked. "Do you know if he entered the store with her?"

"Psyduck?" Glycine asked before pausing for a moment, looking out the window as she did so. And that was when she saw the chaos unfolding outside. "I think you may want to come to Cerulean Marketplace yourself. A Psyduck is causing chaos outside."

"Alright then, I will come by!" Misty said as she hung up the phone. She sighed. "Why did I trust Psyduck to go out and get the things I need?"

Misty soon found herself standing in Cerulean City Marketplace, and the whole place looked like a war zone. The whole place was trashed, with many people frustrated about what happened to the place. "What on earth happened?" she asked herself when she heard something.

"PSY-IGH-IGH…" the sound went. Misty knew exactly what that sound was: her Psyduck, and he was just rounding the corner as Misty saw why he was making those sounds. A Rattata was biting onto his head tightly, and not letting go.

"GET BACK HERE!" she heard someone shouting. Misty saw a pair of thieves running behind the poor Duck Pokémon, obviously frustrated with them for some reason.

"YEAH!" the second thief said. "YOU'VE CAUSED NOTHING BUT TROUBLE EVER SINCE WE TRIED TO KIDNAP YOU AND THE LITTLE EGG CREATURE!"

Misty's heart dropped at those words. Those creeps were the reason that this was all going down? THEY were why Psyduck was running around like mad with a Rattata on his head? THEY were the reason why she had to go and get her Pokémon? Misty wanted to hurt them so badly, but then Psyduck started to float in the air.

"PSYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY…" Psyduck said as Rattata became detached from his head, no longer able to keep biting on him, "DUCK!" Psyduck's energy came out, forcing Misty to cover her eyes as he unleashed a powerful Psychic attack which sent the two criminals flying backwards, forcing them into a wall and knocking them unconscious. Psyduck soon fell down to the ground from using too much of his Psychic powers. "Psyduck!" Misty said as she ran towards the Duck Pokémon. "Are you okay?" she asked the Pokémon.

"Psy…" Psyduck said as he lay there, swirls in his eyes.

"You need a nice long rest," Misty said as she returned Psyduck to his Pokéball.

Just then, Misty heard some sirens and saw Officer Jenny come by on a motorcycle. The cop stopped right in front of the Cerulean City Gym Leader. "I have received some calls about a Psyduck on the loose," Jenny said to Misty.

"And I got it all under control," Misty said with a smile before pointing to the two unconscious no-good-doers. "And they were the ones who caused Psyduck to go on his rampage."

"Very well then," Jenny said, "I will take over from here."

Misty smiled and nodded before heading into Glycine's. "Hello there," she said.

"Toge!" Togepi, who was in Glycine's arms, happily chirped. She jumped out before running to her mother. "Toge Toge pree!" She said as she hugged Misty, obviously happy to see her.

"I am happy to see you, too, Togepi," Misty said before she looked at Glycine. "Thanks for helping deal with Togepi."

"You're welcome," Glycine said. "Your little one seemed interested in one of the mannequins." She pointed to the one earlier as Misty got a good look at the outfit. It looked a lot like the outfit she wore for two and a half years while traveling the world with Ash, but with some differences. Maybe it would be a good idea to mix it up a little bit.

"I see," Misty said as she looked at everything that Togepi and Psyduck managed to pick up. The two of them didn't manage to get a lot of what she needed, but it was expected as it was their first run together, and after what happened, she was sure she could get them another day. "Say, how much is that outfit, Glycine?"

"Do you think that you are interested in buying it?" the store owner said.

"Yes," Misty said with a smile.

"Well, you are welcome to try it on," Glycine said as she gave the outfit to Misty, "and if you want to buy it, it will be 5,000 Pokédollars."

Misty looked at how much money she had left, and she had roughly 7,500 Pokédollars left. "I think I will take it," Misty said as she went to go and try it on.

After another long day of being a gym leader, Misty was back at her computer, seeing if Ash had emailed her with updates on what was going on in the Hoenn region. He recently won his second gym badge and proved that yes, he can win gym battles without using Pikachu, and they had recently arrived in Slateport City for May's first ever contest. She penned her response:

Hey, Ash. Glad to hear that you have reached Slateport City safely, even if it took you a lot longer than you would have liked because of the TRio. Looking at Swampert, and with your accounts of how it acted on the ship, I think it would have worked well as a horror movie villain, one that I would have enjoyed (water-type bias totally in effect). It also appears to be what Mock's Mudkip will become one day, that is, if he has it evolve before he realizes that he is not a water-type trainer. Also, an abandoned boat sounds like the perfect place for a wild Pokémon sanctuary as it is surrounded by water, and very few humans would go there (intentionally, that is). A shame I am stuck here in the gym and I couldn't see it in person. Anyways, my day was pretty good today. I had a lot of gym challengers wanting to come over for a badge, and on a day when I planned on getting a few things. Luckily Togepi and Psyduck were okay with running out and getting them for me, including a new outfit that I plan on wearing from now on. I will send you a pic of me in it. I hope you like it!

Misty

PS: I wish May good luck in her upcoming contest!

"Do you think that Ash will enjoy my new outfit, Togepi?" Misty asked her Pokémon.

"Pree!" Togepi said as Misty smiled and sent her latest email to Ash.

And so, after another hectic day in Cerulean City, Misty has a new outfit to show off to the world. How will it stack up to her old outfit? Stay tuned!
