A/N: WildMath55-Well, I'm sure Eirin is shocked with what you have there, Devlin. And I mean it. Here's my thoughts about both Hourai Elixir and R-Virus.
She created Hourai Elixir with Kaguya's time flow manipulation power, so the effect is instant. This also made those who drink it immortal, and not even killing them in the past can revert it. Fortunately, I read enough about it to find a way to reverse said immortality in my head canon.
R-Virus, as described here, needs time to be fully bonded with those who are infected with it. But given enough time, as Red Queen said, they will be the most powerful creatures one can think of here. The only drawback that I can think of is huge increase of metabolism, but it can be mitigated.
As of why Eirin is shocked here, it's because Devlin has actually been revived TWICE so far, and he hasn't even fully bonded with R-Virus. Keep in mind, this is without Kaguya's power, hence his hunger following the second revival.
To be honest, this is actually pretty similar to my idea of Hourai Serum. The Serum is basically Hourai Elixir without Kaguya's power, so it didn't grant immorality. Those injected with the Serum received all-round enhancement in their bodily functions, and the effect varies depending on the recipient's species/race.
I can say without hesitation that R-Virus is stronger than the Serum, but still weaker than the Elixir because of the drawback. Good game, Devlin.
NO PAST DELETION?! Man, and I thought Reverse Flash was broken. At least they still have a weakness in your headcanon. Sadly, The R-Virus isn't powerful enough to withstand Death By Past.
Nothing wrong with having a nice and healthy appetite. Just go to your favorite buffet and run them out of business. HAH!
Still wouldn't wanna fight her.
Huh. That kinda sounds like Compound V from The Boys.
Honestly, I still like my drawback. FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD! And thank you.
Natalie and Corey carefully explored the Development Wing, not wanting to run into the Tyrant or alert it that they were in the area. They made sure to make as little noise as possible, Corey stabbing his knife into any corpses so they wouldn't get up later. Nat dealt with any of the walking dead with a careful snap of their neck if she could sneak up on them. If that didn't work, she would grab and throw Corey's knife at their heads.
"Man, this R-Virus is making this almost unfair," Nat said.
"I don't mind cheating if we get to survive," Corey said as he saw a keypad and typed in a code. "We're in," he whispered.
"Please let this be a winner," Nat said.
The couple snuck into the room, closing the door behind them immediately.
Corey then looked. "Heh, jackpot."
Nat looked. "Wow. Looks like we found your candy store, Cor."
"Yeah. This is more than enough to make a railgun. Will have plenty to enhance our guns, too."
"What about my armor," Nat asked with a raised eyebrow.
Corey sighed. "Nat... I'm not Dev. He's the only one who can do any work on your armor. I don't even know what's compatible with those things. These might not even be the necessary components for it."
"Damn. Hope we can find that idiot before Alfonso does."
"Yeah, no kidding. Still, we should get to work. Think you can help with the railgun?"
Nat grabbed and expertly spun a wrench. "Who do you think you're talking to, babe," she asked with a snarky smile.
Corey chuckled. "Point taken. Alright, time to get to-"
STOMP.
Corey and Natalie froze when they heard the heavy footstep.
STOMP, STOMP, STOMP.
They got away from the door, hugging the wall away from the door just in case the Tyrant decided to look through the window.
When she hid, Nat activated the X-Ray. She gulped when she saw the Tyrant walk right past her before it stopped. It turned to look at the door.
'Move on. Move on! MOVE ON,' Natalie thought.
The Tyrant then reached out toward the keypad.
'SHIT, SHIT, SHIT, SHIT, SHIIIIT,' Nat thought.
BANG!
The Tyrant looked toward the sound of gunshots.
BANG, BANG-BANG, BANG!
It looked at the keypad one more time before hearing more gunshots and walking toward it.
Nat watched it until it was out of sight, neither one able to hear the heavy footsteps anymore.
Nat let out a sigh of relief.
"Shit, we need to hurry," Corey said as he ran and gathered the components he needed.
"Yeah. Those gunshots could only mean one thing," Nat said as she stood next to her boyfriend, the parts laid out in front of them.
"Devlin's in trouble," they said in unison.
A Tarzan fell onto its back, thrashing around before it looked up with a snarl. It grunted after a black dress shoe stomped onto its chest, the infected ape looking up to see a gun pointed at its head.
"Fuck you, PETA."
BANG, BANG, BANG.
The Tarzan fell to the ground, its head falling to the side to reveal the three bullet holes in its head.
Devlin was panting before he took a deep breath to calm himself before looking behind him.
A dead Tarzan was face down on the floor in a pool of its own blood while the other was dead on a table, blood dripping off of it.
"That's the last time I EVER get involved with animal testing. Can't believe we thought we could weaponize these things," Devlin said as he expertly spun his gun like a seasoned gunslinger before holstering it. "I'd better find Cor and Nat before anything else comes after me."
Devlin then opened the door to see a wall.
He then looked up. "Of course."
The Tyrant grabbed Devlin by the head, easily lifting him. However, Devlin grabbed his knife and jabbed it into the monster's wrist, making it drop him. Unfortunately, Devlin's knife finally shattered after all the abuse it went through, but he didn't care. He just ran from the currently unkillable monster.
Just as he ran past the first hallway, a zombie roared as it lunged at him, Devlin holding the undead corpse away from him. "GET OFF OF ME! DO I LOOK LIKE I'M LOOKING FOR A DATE?!" The zombie tried to bite Devlin's face, who leaned back from the gnashing teeth. "I don't consent! I DON'T CONSENT!"
Devlin heard stomping and looked to see the Tyrant walking toward him and the zombie.
"Hey, found you a date," he said to the zombie. Devlin then used his new superhuman strength to spin the zombie and throw it at the Tyrant.
It nonchalantly smacked the airborne corpse away from it, turning its body into a red stain on the wall.
"Oh, come on," Devlin yelled before he ran.
He then stopped when he reached a crosswalk. "You know what? Fuck it," Devlin yelled before taking his gun and pointing it at the approaching Tyrant. "You look overworked. Have some anesthetics to deal with your insomnia!"
Jaune unloaded an entire full clip into the Tyrant's head. Though it did stumble back, it continued its advance.
"Alright." Devlin took out his sniper rifle. "Let's prescribe you a stronger dose. Don't worry. I'm a doctor. I know what I'm doing. Now OPEN WIDE!"
Devlin unloaded the entire clip into the Tyrant's head once more, not missing a shot. With the final bullet, the Tyrant stumbled back, struggling to take another step forward, looking ready to advance before it fell to one knee, obviously hurt.
"Good boy. Now stay there for as long as possible and don't forget to get your lollipop from the front desk. Ciao."
Devlin then ran off, getting as far away from the dazed Tyrant as he could.
Corey was using a thin, small screwdriver. Looking through a magnifying glass, he slowly inserted it into a screw and carefully tightened it. He then released the breath he was holding. "There. It's done."
"It's finished," Nat asked as she carefully poured a liquid into a pipe bomb before quickly sealing it.
"Yeah. We've got ourselves a portable rail gun," Corey said as he held up a rifle covered with steel-protected bulbs, all of them glowing. "Though, we shouldn't rely on it. One shot is enough to take care of that Tyrant, but if I miss, I estimate at least half an hour for it to fully charge and properly cool down."
"Then it's a good thing I made these while you were busy with that," Nat said as she tossed a bomb at Corey, who easily caught it.
"These aren't regular pipe bombs. They feel way too cold."
"Observant. They're filled with liquid nitrogen. Even if you miss, these guys should at least give us a chance to run. Better yet, it could make sure our friend stays still for the camera."
"I feel like I don't say I love you enough."
"You don't."
"I love you."
"I know. Now let's rescue our idiot brother before he gets himself killed," Nat said as she walked out the door.
"With Devlin's luck, he's probably already surrounded by zombies," Corey said as he followed his girlfriend.
He stopped when heard a growl. He looked behind him. "Shit. I got the Devlin's Luck."
Nat looked behind her. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me."
The Mufasa was glaring at them, baring its teeth, ready to pounce.
Corey took out his magnum and handed it to Natalie before readying his shotgun. "You don't have a cat allergy, do you, Nat?"
"Corey, it's Devlin's job to make the stupid quips and get smacked by me."
"Good point." The two fired.
However, the Mufasa showed impossible speed and agility when it jumped onto the ceiling before lunging at Corey. It slammed into Corey, the man barely able to hold up his shotgun in time.
The Mufasa was biting right onto the shotgun, its teeth making the weapon crack. Then, it completely shattered the shotgun, showing just how insanely powerful the infected beast was.
It tried to bite Corey's face off, but Corey was able to grab the beast's jaws just in time, struggling to keep it open.
Corey was too worried about his safety to realize that he was performing an impossible act for a normal human. If it were not for the R-Virus flowing through his veins, the bite of the Mufasa could have crushed Corey's arms as easily as biting through the air, yet Corey's superhuman strength was giving the King of the Beasts a fight.
The Mufasa's eyes widened after it felt its tail getting grabbed. "OFF MY BOYFRIEND, THROWRUG!"
Natalie used both her super strength and the gauntlets to slam the Mufasa onto the ground before tossing it away from them, the beast landing on its legs before slamming into the wall. It shook its head only to see the couple try to run. It roared.
A lion's roar is known to be the loudest of all felines, but the Mufasa's was at least twice as loud, three times at worst. Either way, the loud roar was enough to stun the two, making them feel like their entire bodies were locked. Their entire bodies were vibrating down to their very skeletons, and both were in pain.
"Can't... move," Corey went.
"Come... on. Move. . . Move! . . . MOVE," Nat went.
The Mufasa roared as he charged at the couple, aiming for Corey once more.
"I... said... MOOOOOVE," Natalie roared as she clenched her fist, charging her gauntlet.
CHARGE COMPLETE.
Natalie unleashed a roar as she threw her punch, her fist smashing right between the eyes of the Mufasa, his eyeballs almost popping out before it was sent flying THROUGH the wall.
"FUCK YEAH! THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR MESSIN' WITH THE QUEEN OF THE RING, KITTEN!"
"Okay. That was awesome."
A growl was heard.
"You gotta be kidding me," Natalie said.
"Devlin said his gauntlets aren't at full potential. Let's bolt!"
"Yeah!"
As the couple ran away, the lion walked out, its shattered face revealed. The R-Virus made the face repair itself, bones snapping and cracking being heard before it was returned to normal.
Then, the Mufasa let out a quick roar as it began to mutate due to the T-Virus. It began to enlarge, easily twice the size of a normal lion. Its fangs grew until they were the size of Corey's arm, the teeth way past the upper and lower jaws now. Its claws grew until they pierced through the ground, its tail growing to the length of a whip. Then, its fur began to tear, revealing its muscles.
When the mutation was over, the Mufasa was a massive monstrosity with nightmarish claws and fangs that would put swords to shame, a single swing of its tail smashing through walls like they were made of wet toilet paper. Then, it roared.
Corey and Nat have just found and opened an office door when the roaring occurred. It was so loud and powerful, their eardrums burst, blood spewing out of their ears and mouths before they both fell to the ground, the door automatically closing behind them.
As Devlin walked, he jolted in pain after the roar reached him, the scientist falling to one leg. "What... the fuck... was that?" Devlin then reached toward something, only to hear a door open. He looked next to him to see a lab... and something very important. "A very merry unbirthday to you, Nat," he said as he stumbled toward Nat's new boots.
Devlin walked up to the boots, analyzing them. "Mm, magnetic soles, rocket-fuel-like thrusters, made of... freakin' diamond. It's Grade 10 at that. If Nat was a kickboxer or even a damned ballerina, she'd be a nightmare with these things on. Mm. Damn. It's incomplete like my gauntlets. Doesn't need as much work as my project but still."
Devlin measured the size of the boot. "Mm, about a size ten. Isn't Nat smaller than that? Eh, I'll adjust it when I find her. I wonder if this lab has... AH!"
Devlin saw the materials he needed to enhance the boots and his gauntlets. He even saw a workstation next to the materials. Collecting them, he put all the necessary items into the station and went to work. "Shit. I didn't realize how loud this would be. If the Tyrant is nearby, I'm in trouble. Still, I'm almost done, so... BINGO!"
Devlin took out the completed boots. "Wait. SHIT! I didn't have enough materials. If I had just a little bit more, I could have finished these boots completely. And here my dumbass thought I'd have enough left over for the gauntlets. I'm sure there're enough components hidden around the labs. Oh, whatever. I need to find-"
The door being opened was heard. Devlin looked behind him to see the Tyrant bend down and enter the lab, towering over the exit.
"Goddammit. You know, Nat told me about this annoying stalker she once had. Or was that Julie? Anyway, I'm pretty sure you're worse than that guy." The Tyrant stomped toward Devlin, ripping the desk out of the ground it was bolted to just to throw it away with one hand. "Much worse."
The Tyrant threw a punch at Devlin, but he was able to duck and jump away from the B.O.W. before running.
"Good thing he's slow," Devlin thought as he ran. Then, he heard quick stomps and looked behind him to see the Tyrant chasing after him, gaining on him. "NOT SLOW! NOT SLOW!"
Devlin then saw a staircase at the right of the hall. Sliding to a stop, Devlin jumped down the entire flight, landing on his feet but sliding into the wall. "Ow." Devlin looked up the stairs. "OH, SHIT!"
Devlin jumped out of the way to avoid being crushed by the Tyrant before jumping down the next flight. He then took off running down the hall, actually jumping from the quake of the Tyrnat landing, but still was able to regain his footing and continue to run.
Devlin then slid down a corner, about to run before he slid to a halt.
"You gotta be kidding me."
The Mufasa turned its head to look at Devlin before turning toward him completely, the mutated beast absolutely dwarfing the scientists, its mouth more than big enough to eat Devlin whole.
Devlin looked behind him, only to see the Tyrant appear.
In front of Devlin was the largest lion the world will ever know, with the world's most powerful Bio-organic Weapon standing behind him, with no exit to be seen in the hallway, not even a lab to run into. "Yup. This is how I die."
