The day before Arthur and Agatha were supposed to leave, Oceanside got hit with a big rainstorm. The sky was filled with dark gray clouds, rain was pouring down, and the wind was rather strong.

"Gee, I hope this clears up by tomorrow." said Arthur.

"Don't worry, Arthur. I checked the weather and this storm will be over by tomorrow." Agatha assured.

Sam was looking out the window at the scene.

"Wow, the ocean looks like an invisible giant's splashing in it."

"I hope Grandmamah, Uncle Brill, and all the other krakens are okay." hoped Ruby.

"They'll be okay Ruby. All krakens stay far enough below the ocean when storm's come." told Agatha.

The rainstorm continued all day, and into the night. But eventually around 3:30 in the morning, it stopped. By the time morning came the sun was shining and the sky was completely clear. Arthur and Agatha were all packed up, and were ready to go.

"Now Ruby there are leftovers you can reheat for dinner, emergency money's in our bedroom, and the emergency numbers are on the fridge. If there's a really serious problem you can get your grandmother or your uncle." Arthur told her.

"Now we're not heartless." Agatha added.

She reached into her wallet, and pulled out some money.

"In case you want to order pizza here's some cash. And you can have friends over, but there will be absolutely no wild parties." she finished.

"Don't worry, Mom and Dad we'll be fine here." Ruby assured.

"Glad to hear that. And Sam please behavior for your sister." Arthur told.

"Yes, Dad." Sam replied.

After hugs and kisses, the two left leaving their kids alone.

"Well what do we do now Miss In Charge?" Sam wanted to know.

"You're going to go finish your homework." Ruby told him.

"What why?"

"Because you're always leaving it till the last minute, now upstairs."

Sam put his hands in his pockets, and stomped upstairs.

"I'll come check on you later." Ruby called.

When she heard the door close, she plopped down on the couch, pulled out her phone and started calling her friends. Within the hour Margot, Bliss, Trevin, and Conner arrived with junk food, video games, and videos.

"Well guys, let's get this started." Ruby declared.

Soon, the teens were having a blast scarfing down junk food, and playing video games on Trevin's console.

"Now this is how to spend a day." said Margot, as she munched on the cheese puffs.

"You said it." agreed Conner, as he played a game against Trevin.

"So what did you do with Sam?" Bliss wanted to know.

"I sent him up to do his homework. It'll keep him busy for a while."

"Pretty clever." Trevin told her.

Up in his room, Sam was doing his homework. While he worked, he could hear his sister and her friends having fun.

"(Groans), why can't my friends come over?" he asked himself.

He had told his friends about his parents going out of town, but they couldn't come over for various reasons. One didn't like the fact there were no real adults around, another was getting sick, and another friend was going to be busy.

Once he was finished with it, he went downstairs. He saw his sister and her friends all having fun. But he went up to her anyway.

"Hey, Ruby?" he asked.

"What is it, Sam?"

"I finished my homework. Can I hang out with you guys?"

The others looked kinda skeptical. They were 15/16 and they didn't really want to hang out with a kid.

"Uh, sorry Sam. But this game isn't really appropriate for kids. Why don't you go play outside?" Ruby suggested.

Sam scowled.

"Fine." he grumbled.

He went up back to his room, grabbed his red rubber ball, and went outside.

In his yard, he bounced the ball against the wall of his house.

"Ruby's so lucky." he said.

He kicked the ball so hard against the ball, it was bounced off it and flew into some bushes on the other side of the street.

"Aw great."

He knew he wasn't supposed to leave the yard without permission, and was about to go in and ask Ruby but then decided not to.

"I'll be right back. Besides, she probably won't care anyway."

So he scurried across the street, and went to the bushes.

"My ball must be around here somewhere."

Just then, his ball rolled out from the bushes, almost if someone rolled it to him. Confused, Sam went over to the spot.

"Hey, is someone in there?"

He heard rustling, like something had just moved. Curious, Sam peeked into the bushes, and to his surprise he saw...a young kraken girl.
