Lando is now 8 years old and was a spitting image of Levi at that age, a downside of being Levi's son is that you're going to be short. Lando quickly noticed that any kid he sees his age is taller than him.
"Mom, why am I so short compared to other kids my age?" Lando asked while pouting.
Ophelia started laughing at her son's cute face while pouting "You can blame your father for that one, he was 5 '7 on a good day."
Lando clicks his tongue before going silent, the two of them were walking home from Ophelia's doctor's office. Lando didn't really have any friends his age, the only people he would converse with on the regular were Mom and Auntie Joyce. He loved the two of them, but he wanted more people to talk with and hang out with so he wasn't always cooped up in his mom's doctor's office. He liked it there but sometimes he would hear screaming while his mom did something so he would like to leave at those times but he didn't have anywhere to go or anybody to talk to, Auntie Joyce was usually always busy at that time.
When they got home and opened the door they saw a familiar pair of shoes there.
"Joyce?" Ophelia called out.
"In here!" Joyce yelled back but she sounded like she was in pain
Ophelia noticed this and didn't even take off her shoes before walking over to Joyce. Lando lagged behind taking off his shoes and neatly putting them by the door. Lando became a clean freak after his mother told him that his father cleaned so much and when he did it it was spotless, not even a speck of dust anywhere. After Lando heard this he always cleaned, he hated it when it was dirty anyway the Underground was dirty enough, but he thought that if he cleaned enough and the house was spotless every day in case his father came to see him. If it was dirty his father would leave, if it was clean when his father came he would stay right?
Ophelia saw Joyce holding her foot and asked" What happened?"
"I was going to surprise you guys by getting here first but I fell and now my ankle feels like it's on fire." Joyce replied
Ophelia started fiddling around with her foot much to Joyce's displeasure. Lando finished what he was doing and started to walk over to them.
"Lando come here." Ophelia said.
Lando did as told and saw Ophelia holding Joyce's ankle
"Lando this is a sprained ankle, and I'm going to teach you how to fix it. As this is a frequent injury." Lando nods at the explanation
"I feel like a test subject." Joyce says
"Ok Lando to fix a sprained ankle you need to keep it straight it will heal naturally, but slowly. Go get me some bandages." Ophelia said ignoring Joyce's complaints
Lando ran over to the kitchen and opened up a cabinet inside there were some medical supplies. He ran back over to his mom and gave her the supplies.
"Ok, so you need to keep the ankle straight and bandage up, if not it could risk the ankle to get worse." Ophelia said
Lando nods while Ophelia gets to work. After she bandaged it Joyce gives her thanks
"Thank you but what am I going to do? I can barely walk let alone get home."
"You can stay with us! Please mom?" Lando asked his mom.
" Yes, she can stay with us." Ophelia sighed
"Thank you!" Lando replies and Joyce just smiles.
Lando loved it when Auntie Joyce stayed over so he could hang out with her while his mom went to the doctor's office. Lando was curious about how his mom knew so much about doctor things, and figured tonight was the time to ask.
"Hey, mom?" Lando asked
"Yes?" Ophelia replied
"How did you learn so much about doctors?" Lando questioned
"Yeah, the lil munchkin is right, how do you know so much?" Joyce asked
Ophelia was wide eyed about the question Lando had never asked her about anything doctoring stuff before. It excited her that her son was interested in the medical field, but that would mean she would have to tell him how she learned how to be a doctor.
"Ok, Lando i'll tell you about how I know how to be a doctor, it's a long story." Ophelia said
" My Mom was a doctor.." before she could say anything else Lando yelled out "Grandma was a doctor?!"
"Yes, Lando now don't interrupt me again." Ophelia scolded
"My mom was a doctor. She was taught by her mom it's kinda like medical knowledge was passed down the family. She taught me everything I know from how to cure a disease to how to fix a broken bone. I never did know my father he died for some reason before I was born. My mom never told me why but she spite him for whatever he did, so much so that she didn't tell me his last name so I grew up with no last name. I was born in the Underground but she wasn't. She came from above ground. She said she came down here because she couldn't stand by while people down here died from injuries and diseases that could be cured. That's how I ended up here in the Underground. I try to live by her legacy here when I opened up my doctor's office."
Lando couldn't believe what he was hearing. Mom had never talked about the fact that he had a grandma. Or any other family besides dad. Lando wished he would come see him.
"What was grandma like?" Lando asked
" She was the nicest lady ever, she would help anybody in need even if it meant that she would suffer. She loved kids and would always try to spend time with kids whose parents left them. She always tried her best no matter what." Ophelia told her child.
"Grandma seemed so cool!" Lando said
"The coolest." Ophelia responded with a smile
"Where is she? I want to see her." Lando vocalizes
"I'm sorry Lando but she died from a heart attack when I was 15."
"Oh…" Lando said with his head looking down.
"Go get ready for the night, it's late." Ophelia told her kid.
"Alright…" Lando replied
Joyce was there just processing the information that was said. When Lando went to the bathroom to get ready for the night she asked Ophelia " Quite the origin story there."
" Yeah, mom would've loved Lando... and curse Levi's name for leaving before he got to know he had a kid." Ophelia said with a laugh
" Who doesn't love the kid? He is a little ball of happiness." Joyce said
" I sure did get lucky" Ophelia says
" You sure did but, this injured bird has to rest to heal before soaring through the sky once more." Joyce said as she laid down on the couch
Ophelia laughed and then walked over to Lando's room. She opened his door to see him sitting on the bed with a candle lit looking at the picture of Levi.
"Lando, it's time to go to sleep." Ophelia said
Lando sighed then said "Ok mom… Goodnight love you."
Ophelia smiled, kissed her son's forehead then said" Love you too." Before walking to her room
Stohess District.
A man wearing a black fedora and a trench coat was sitting down at a bar in Stohess. One of his informants from the underground had some urgent news to tell him and who was he to not listen to the latest gossip?
A man walked by the fedora wearing man before sitting down to his right.
"Kenny." was all the man said before sliding him a note.
Kenny nodded before opening it up and reading it. The note contained the usual in the Underground. Killings, drug deals, theft. But one sentence at the bottom caught his attention. It said " A young boy has been seen with a pretty looking doctor. The young boy looks exactly like a certain Levi at his age."
Kenny couldn't believe what he was reading, " The run must have started his own litter." he mumbled. "There is no way the runt had a kid, right?" Kenny thought " I'm going to go have a look at him. If he is Levi's son then we are about to have an interesting family reunion." Kenny thought with a smile.
