Giles rolled over to face his bedside table at the incessant rings of his phone. While being Captain of the Sunnydale Police Department had its perks, its downfall came at the price of a good night's rest. He snatched his glasses from the table and read the caller ID on his phone.

He breathed a sigh of relief. At least it was Cordelia, the more competent of the two secretaries.

Cordelia and Harmony traded night shifts and Giles was used to random calls in the middle of the night from Harmony. Once she had called to inform him that their coffee machine broke. With Cordelia, Giles knew it had to be important for a morning call.

"Cordelia? What seems to be the matter?" Giles asked mid yawn.

"I got an interesting call from Sunnydale General," Cordelia began.

"Interesting? How?" Giles asked with piqued curiosity. He stood from his bed and moved into the hallway, hoping not to wake his wife.

"A girl came into the hospital trying get help her son's broken arm."

"How is this any of our concern?" Giles was not following what any of this had to do with the Department.

"Because this girl claims to be Buffy Summers. Apparently she's a dead ringer for her, too." Cordelia knew Buffy from high school and was even friends with her. When Buffy went missing, Cordelia applied for the secretary job at the Police Station. She wanted to be there when Buffy was rescued. However, after six years of no leads - and Cordelia slowly starting to like her job - she thought that Buffy would never be found.

"You're quite positive?" Giles asked. Since Buffy's disappearance, the Department had worked many long hours to find her, but all attempts never amounted to much. They had to declare the case cold four years ago.

"I'm sure," Cordelia assured.

Giles swallowed. "Did you contact...Angel?"

"I tried, but I couldn't get in touch. Should I try again?"

"No, no, no. I'll tell him when he gets back." Giles gazed back into his bedroom at his sleeping wife before continuing with Cordelia. "Take the rest of the night off. I'll call you later this afternoon with any updates. I'm going to go to the hospital."

"Okay then, I'll talk to you later G-Man."

"I really do hate when you call me that."

Cordelia smiled as she toyed with her wedding ring. "What can I say? My husband's annoying nicknames have started to rub off."

"That reminds me, please do not tell Xander or Willow about this yet. Or anyone at the station as a matter of fact. I would like Joyce to see her first."

"Understandable. Well I'm going to go home and get some beauty sleep. Looking like me doesn't just happen over night."

"Good night, Cordelia," Giles said, ending the conversation before Cordelia went on another beauty rant.

"Good night, Giles."

Giles set his phone down with a million thoughts rushing in his head. Buffy was back, but in what condition? Where was she these past six years? Who was this son Cordelia had spoken briefly about? All his questions would be answered in a matter of time.

Giles went back inside his room and got back in bed. He leaned over to his wife and nudged her awake. "Rupert? It's three in the morning, go back to bed," she said, nestling her head back into her pillow.

"Joyce," Giles said, getting her attention. "We found Buffy."

"What's the verdict?" Buffy asked the doctor. He had stepped out of the room after he finished assessing Liam.

"Well he definitely has a broken arm. I had a nurse already wrap him up, but we would like to run some further tests on him," the doctor said, making a few notes on Liam's chart.

Buffy's face fell. "Tests?"

"Yes, Liam has not been exposed to fresh air for the first five years of his life nor has he had any vaccinations. We would like to keep him for a few days for observation," the doctor explained. Though Buffy was against keeping Liam in the hospital longer than needed, she had to push her own feelings aside and do what was best for her child. "As for yourself Miss Summers, we would like to run some standard tests on you as well."

"I don't need any," Buffy replied. She knew her body and it was fine. No tests were required.

"It's standard in this type of situation that we run a rape kit and check your vitals to make sure you're healthy," the doctor argued.

Buffy tried her best to suppress her laughter as she played with her engagement ring that was still strung around her neck. "I don't need a rape kit. The bastard never touched me."

"Then how do you explain-"

"I was already pregnant when I was abducted," Buffy cut off. She didn't want anyone to think that Liam was the result of six years of torture when he was born of something pure and loving.

The doctor made a few new notes to Liam's chart. "I see."

"Can I go in and see my son?"

"Of course. I'll be back soon." The doctor opened the door to Liam's hospital room for Buffy and proceeded to leave the pair alone.

Buffy looked over to find Liam sleeping with a bright green cast on his left arm. She turned off the TV that was playing in the background as she watched him sleep in peace.

They were finally safe.

Buffy, herself, was just about to doze off in the armchair next to Liam's bed when she heard knocking on the door. Instantly, Buffy was brought back to memories of six years ago. She had answered the door and that's when she was taken from her home. Pushing away her darkest memories, Buffy hesitantly headed towards the door. She took a deep breath and opened the door.

"Buffy?" The woman asked with tears in her eyes.

"Mom? Mommy?" Buffy's fears were completely washed away at the sight of her mother; instead, she broke down and cried.

Joyce reached for her daughter and held her. She had been patiently waiting for this moment and was relieved to finally have her daughter back. "I missed you so much," Joyce cried.

"I missed you, too," Buffy wept. She did not realize how much she missed her mother until she was in the comfort of her arms. "So much has happened."

"You have no idea." Joyce loosened her grip on her daughter and wiped Buffy's tears away.

"Buffy?" Giles asked appearing behind Joyce. He had wanted to give Joyce the proper mother-daughter reunion and did not want to intrude.

"Giles?!" Buffy's eyes practically jumped out of their socket at the sight of the British man and hugged him. She had known him through Angel and had always been fond of the man. She even tried to set him up with her mother. "How did you guys even know I was here?"

"The secretary downstairs had contacted the Sunnydale PD where Cordelia Chase happens to work-" Giles tried to explain before getting cut off by Buffy.

"Cordelia's a cop?!" Buffy could not imagine any scenario where Cordelia Chase would become a police officer.

"No. Secretary," Giles corrected. He was pleased to see Buffy's vibrant personality back in full force. It was something he had missed. "Anyways, she called me and I informed your mother."

Buffy took notice of the new rings that adorned both Giles and her mother's left hands and dawned at the realization. "Did you guys get married?" Buffy asked.

Joyce nodded her head, confirming Buffy's suspicions. Buffy threw her arms around the happy couple to congratulate them and show her support. "When did this happen? How did this happen?" Buffy questioned them.

"It happened when Rupert was working on your case. He was over quite a lot trying to get any information. That's when we started to develop a connection. We went on a few dates and three years later, we got married," Joyce explained grabbing her husband's hand.

"I just can't believe it," Buffy said as her smile slowly faded. "I can't believe I missed your wedding."

"Buffy, don't worry about that," Joyce reassured.

"Mommy?" A sleepy Liam asked waking up from his nap. "Where am I?" He had no recollection where he was at or why he had a bright green thing on his arm. He didn't even know who those people talking to his mom were.

Buffy strolled over to Liam's beside. "You're in the hospital still. Don't you remember? The nurses and doctors put a cast on your arm because your arm is broken. This way your bones can heal," Buffy explained. Though Liam was a smart kid, the topic of broken bones never came up.

"Buffy, who is this?" Joyce asked, inching closer with Giles.

"Mom. Giles. This is Liam, my son," Buffy smiled and turned her attention to her five-year-old. "Liam, this is your grandma and her husband, Giles."

Joyce was once again brought to tears. She had a grandson. A grandson of whom she missed the first five years of his life. "Buffy, he's absolutely perfect. He even has your eyes," Joyce complimented.

"Yeah..." Buffy tousled Liam's hair causing Liam to giggle. "But the rest of him is all Angel."

"Angel?" Giles questioned. He, nor was anyone, aware that Buffy was pregnant at the time of her abduction. The possibility of Angel being the child's father hadn't even crossed his mind.

"I was two months along when I was taken," Buffy admitted. However part of her was shocked. She had hoped Angel would have found her birthday gift to him that explained she was pregnant. "Where's Angel anyway?"

"He's out of town," Giles responded curtly.

"Do you know when he'll be back?" Buffy asked. She had desperately missed her fiancée and was anxious to see him again. He was her everything and the man she was going to spend the rest of her life with.

"Tomorrow."
