Hi All. Welcome to chapter three of Potter Kind: On Their Own. This is the second story in the Potter Kind series, I hope to write new stories for this series frequently. This series was inspired by some works by a writer who used to be on this site but doesn't put her work out there because of some negative feedback sadly. This story is complete and was written as a one shot, but as my poll results were tied and it was 15000+ words long, I decided it was too long to be a one shot, so I've split it into six chapters for you. Updates should be weekly unless something drastic happens. Don't forget if you haven't already, make sure to go onto your profile and opt in for email notifications if you want to be notified each time that I put a new chapter/story up.
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, Castor Charlus Potter and Jennifer Euphemia Potter are my own original character, but all other recognisable characters belong to J K Rowling, I just like to use them to do my bidding.
Series Summary: We know from the Black Tapestry that Dorea Black married Charlus Potter and they had a son. What if Charlus was James Potter's Father Fleamont Potter's brother? What if James had a little sister? What if Harry had other family members who could have taken him in and raise him? This is the story of the last three Potters.
Story Summary: Castor is a Hogwarts Graduate now and determined to be his little sister and brother's legal guardian, this is the story of their first day alone. AU, two OC's. Contains Spanking. Full warnings inside.
Warning: This is AU and has two OC's, and contains non-sexual spanking of a minor by their legal guardian. Don't like, don't read.
As always a huge, huge thank you to my amazing Beta who has been an amazing support in writing this. Yes, I am still trying my hardest to turn her into a Harry Potter Fan and I think I'm slowly convincing her. Without her support and guidance, I probably wouldn't have written this one.

Remus was almost done setting up Harry's toys when Sirius finally came through the Floo with an extremely sullen looking Jenny. "Right, go unpack your room missy," he ordered. "Now hand me my Godson and Uncle Moony and I will get his room all set up," he told Cas. He reached forward and plucked the little toddler out of Cas's arms tossing him up in the air.
Cas sighed but didn't fight Sirius taking Harry from him. He had just a few minutes ago wanted Sirius to stop jumping all over him when it came to Jenny, he shouldn't be wanting Sirius to be the one helping Jenny unpack now. "Come on then Jenny," he urged.
Jenny huffed and stormed up to her room, the same one she'd had before they'd had to move into Godric's Hollow. She threw open the door to the room decorated with pink unicorns and grimaced. Lily, the only mother she really remembered, had done it for her and she was too old for this décor now, but part of her didn't want to change anything.
Cas took a deep breath for strength and followed his little sister up to her room. He couldn't help but smile seeing the familiar room, Jenny had been so happy and excited, so sweet and innocent. He loved his sister, but sometimes he wished she was still that bright and happy little five-year-old, rather than this moody, sullen, almost ten-year-old that she'd become. He really did hope Remus was right and that she'd drop this hostile attitude soon enough. He pulled up his sleeves, prepared to help his little sister, "we can decorate it however you like in a couple days Jenny. For now, put me to work, I'm sure we can get you all settled in in no time."
"I don't need your help Cas!" Jenny snapped, "get out of my room and leave me alone!"
"Jenny…" Cas tried.
"GET OUT!" Jenny screeched.
Cas raised his hands in surrender, expecting Sirius to step in and correct his sister, like he had been all morning.
Remus joined Sirius and went up to Harry's room with him, the two of them would alternate between keeping Harry entertained and unpacking, so they could give Cas and Jenny time to begin getting things straightened out. He was pretty sure Jenny was going to push Cas into having to spank her and was torn about whether them being there when it inevitably happened would be better or not.
Sirius shook his head and decided he'd warned Jenny enough now, it was time for some consequences.
Remus grabbed hold of Sirius' arm to stop him.
Sirius looked at the hand holding his arm and then up at Remus with a raised eyebrow.
"Sirius, Cas is the one in charge now, you have to let him handle this. If you keep jumping in Jenny is going to have an even harder time respecting him. We're guests here, if Cas needs us to look after Jenny and Harry then we'll have to uphold Cas' rules for them, but for now we let Cas handle Jenny and Harry," Remus maintained.
Sirius sighed, "yeah, you're right." He took a deep breath and turned to Harry, "well little boss man, are you ready to tell Uncle Moony and Uncle Padfoot where to put all your things?"
Harry beamed in delight and nodded, "yuh huh!"
When Sirius didn't jump in Cas didn't know exactly what he was supposed to do. He knew he shouldn't let Jenny talk to him like that, but it seemed a little too late to do anything now. He sighed and just turned around and left Jenny's room, with Sirius and Remus keeping Harry occupied he could at least drop his things off in his own room.
Jenny slammed the door shut behind her brother, almost smacking him in the back with the door.
Cas winced as the door practically slammed into him. He turned around and considered opening her bedroom door before deciding that engaging in a row wasn't worth it. "Jennifer! Don't slam doors!" He called through the door.
Jenny opened the door again, glared up at her brother, then slammed the door in his face.
Cas stared at the door gobsmacked. He almost couldn't believe Jenny had just so openly defied him and slammed her door in his face. He waited for Sirius to come and place his hand on his shoulder, gently, but gravely, telling him he would handle it… but Sirius didn't come. He knew he couldn't let Jenny get away with slamming the door in his face, especially after he'd just told her not to slam it. "Fine, you can stay in your room then," he ordered, trying hard not to shout at his little sister. He turned and stalked to his own room, resisting the urge to slam his own door.
Sirius' head whipped around when Jenny slammed her door, but once more he was stopped by Remus.
"Let Cas deal with it," Remus repeated.
When Jenny slammed the door again Sirius looked at Remus with a 'can I go now?' look.
Remus shook his head, "you have to let Cas handle this Sirius. I know you're their big brother too, but Cas wants guardianship and you said you'd support that. Part of supporting this means letting Cas choose how he wants to deal with Jenny and Harry. You can give him advice if you think he's struggling, but only if he seems to need it."
Sirius gave Remus an unimpressed look, "you ever get tired of always being right?"
Remus smirked, "sometimes, it can be a bit of a burden," he nodded sagely. "Now come on, let's sort Harry's room out for him then we can leave them to get settled," he declared. Them not being here would be best, it would help the new family establish themselves as just that, a family.
Sirius grimaced at that, but nodded in agreement, "yeah, it's probably for the best."
Cas paced his room for a moment, trying to get his temper under control. He would never take his temper out on his little sister, or little brother, but the urge to go back to his sister's room and shake some sense into her was strong. When he no longer felt like punching the walls, he decided to at least unpack his essentials, he still left most of his stuff in the boxes, he didn't want to rely on Remus and Sirius to look after Harry for too long.
It didn't take Sirius and Remus long to unpack and set up Harry's room, even under the little toddler's directions. Sirius was entertaining Harry with a couple of his stuffed toys, putting on silly voices for them and acting out ridiculous scenes. The more Harry giggled and laughed the more silly he allowed himself to be.
Cas knocked lightly on his little brother's room door before he opened it, "thanks for all your help, Sirius, Remus, but if you want to get back now, I'm pretty sure I can handle things," he insisted.
Sirius didn't want to, he wanted to help his little brother, but Remus was right, Cas wanted to do this on his own and he'd promised to support him. "Yeah, we should probably be getting back, let you guys get settled in. You'll come over…"
"Every Friday for dinner yes, and I'll Floo if I need anything," Cas repeated the often-said instructions like a well-known mantra. He wasn't even mad about it and didn't try to hide his smirk.
"You're welcome over any time Cas, don't be a stranger," Remus insisted. He stood up and set Harry on his feet, ruffling his hair as he did.
Sirius gave a half smile, "alright I get it, you get it. Well good luck kiddo. Expect to host unexpected visitors on a regular basis… namely myself and Moony." He forced a grin on his face.
Cas gave a slightly theatrical groan, scooping up Harry as he ran to him. "Your Uncle Moony and Uncle Padfoot plan on making nuisances of themselves Harry," he grinned. He felt a bite of anxiety at the idea of Sirius and Remus leaving then; it was what he wanted, but at the same time it would mean he no longer had back up… that he had to step up and take charge and part of him really didn't feel ready for that.
"Yup, you'll be absolutely sick of the sight of us," Remus grinned. "Well, come on Padfoot, you old fleabag, I believe we're rather quickly overstaying our welcome," he urged.
Sirius let out a bark of laughter, "we should have long overstayed our welcome before we even began to think about leaving Moony, it's practically blasphemy that we're leaving of our own accord and not being banished at wand point!" He wrapped his arm around Remus' shoulder and let the werewolf walk him down to the Floo.
"Let's go see Uncle Moony and Uncle Padfoot out Harry," Cas suggested. He set Harry on his hip and followed his brother and Remus out of Harry's room but paused on the landing. He sighed; he couldn't deny Jenny the opportunity to say goodbye. He crossed over to her room and knocked on the door before pushing it open just a crack, "Remus and Sirius are leaving now Jenny, do you want to say goodbye to them?"
"I thought you told me to stay in here?" Jenny spat petulantly.
Cas nodded, "I did, but I thought you might like to say goodbye," he pointed out calmly.
"I'm staying in my room like you told me to," Jenny sniffed.
"Well, I'm telling you now, you can leave your room," Cas stated.
"No! I'm staying here! Now leave me alone!" Jenny demanded.
"Fine, suit yourself, stay there then!" Cas retorted. He shut her door again and turned stiffly on his heel, feeling a little bad that Harry was clearly upset by the confrontation, but if Jenny wanted to cut off her nose to spite her face, then more fool her. He gently tugged Harry's thumb out of his mouth and tickled his little belly to distract him.
Harry giggled and squirmed away from Cas' tickly fingers. "Jenny angee," he murmured softly.
Cas sighed, "yeah Jenny is grumpy," he agreed.
"Jenny need nap," Harry asserted with a firm little nod.
Cas laughed, "good idea little one, Jenny can have a nap after lunch like you do." He joined Remus and Sirius downstairs them, unable to look Sirius in the eye, not wanting to see the disappointment he was sure was already there.
Sirius didn't need Remus' reminder to let Cas deal with Jenny this time. Although he very much wanted to go and swat some sense into the little madam, Remus was right, it would do no good and would only make it harder for them both. He had to step back and allow his little brother to step up here, it was his battle now.
"Say goodbye to Uncle Moony and Uncle Padfoot," Cas told Harry. He set his little brother down and gave him a nudge in Remus and Sirius' direction.
Harry ran to Uncle Moony and Uncle Padfoot with his arms raised to be picked up.
Remus grabbed Harry first, swinging him up and hugging him tightly, "oh I'm going to miss you little Prongslet, so much. Now give Uncle Moony a kiss goodbye and I'll see you very soon."
Harry shrieked and giggled as he was swung up and he hugged into his Uncle Moony tightly, when asked he gave him a big kiss on the cheek, "bye-bye Unca Mooey."
Remus chuckled and kissed Harry on the head before he handed him over to Sirius.
Sirius took the little toddler in his arms and threw him up in the air, catching him and then peppering his little face with kisses. "Ugh I don't know how I'm going to go even an hour without hearing these little giggles. I'm not going to miss you because I'm going to be here so much that you'll think I live here too," he insisted. "Now give me a big hug and a kiss goodbye to keep me going until I see you again."
Harry screeched in delight as he was thrown up in the air and his face was peppered with kisses. He gave his Uncle Padfoot a big hug and pressed a big kiss to his cheek too, "bye-bye Unca Pa'food."
Sirius laughed and set Harry back down on his feet, more than just a little reluctantly, and ruffled his hair, "go back to Cas now," he urged.
Harry ran back to Cas his arms raised to be picked up again.
Cas scooped up Harry and settled him on his hip, smiling as Harry waved to Sirius and Remus.
"Tell Jenny we said goodbye, and we'll see you all soon," Remus stated.
Cas nodded, "I will," he confirmed, "and yeah, we'll see you Friday."
Remus grinned, "if not before," he winked. He then took a handful of Floo powder and went home before he tried to beg Cas to change his mind. He knew he should just be grateful that Cas was even allowing him to continue to be part of his, Jenny's, and Harry's lives. He was a werewolf, Cas could very easily refuse to associate with him for that, refuse to allow him near Jenny and Harry, there weren't many parents or legal guardians that would allow a werewolf near their children or wards.
"It's going to be strange, just me and Remus in that house, it'll be too quiet. We'll have to come round a lot, lest we suffer from chaos withdrawals," Sirius grinned.
Cas smirked, "you suffer from chaos withdrawals? Too quiet? I don't think you know how to be quiet Sirius. It'll be us suffering from the chaos withdrawals," he teased.
Sirius threw his head back and laughed, "I supposed that's true, and all the more reason for us to constantly drop in without invitation. Can't have you going through the chaos withdrawals, I've heard they can be really rough, almost as bad as trying to beat a Dreamless Sleep potion addiction."
Cas couldn't help but laugh at that, "of course, it's for our own good."
"Exactly little brother, you get it," Sirius quipped. He fought the urge to remind Harry to be a good boy for Cas, that would be Cas' job now then he left Harry with them. He quickly grabbed a handful of Floo powder before he tried to talk sense into Cas, tried to insist the kid let him remain Harry and Jenny's guardian. He had a claim on Harry at least, he was his Godfather and just by virtue of being twenty-three years old and not being a fresh graduate of Hogwarts, he could make a fair argument for being a better guardian for his Godson. He wouldn't do that though, not to Cas, and not to Harry either. He Flooed home before he tried to shake some sense into his little brother or tried to order him back to his place.
Cas felt a stab of panic and clutched Harry to him to prevent himself from diving back to the Floo, throwing Floo powder in, and declaring to Sirius that he'd changed his mind and he wanted him to be in charge. He took a deep, hopefully calming, breath and reminded himself that this was what he wanted.
