Thebes 307 B.C.
Five thousand years ago a fierce warrior known as the Scorpion King led a great army on a campaign to conquer the known world.
After a vicious campaign which lasted several long years the Scorpion King and his army were defeated, and driven deep in the sacred desert of Ahm Shere.
One by one they slowly perished under the scorching sun until on the great warrior himself was left alive.
Near death the Scorpion King made a pact with the dark god Anubis. That if Anubis would spare his life and let him conquer his enemies he would give him his soul.
Anubis accepted his offer, and spared his life.
Anubis gave the Scorpion King command of his army, and like a evil flood they washed away all that lay before them.
When his task was done, Anubis forced the Scorpion King to serve him for all time.
His army was returned to the sands from whence they came where they wait silently to be awaken once again.
Egypt - 1933
Rick and his younger companion slowly made their way down the hall of the temple making sure no one was near them from the sounds they heard.
Rick was still cautious after all it was only eight years past that his wife awoke a ancient evil mummy.
Turning Rick jumped suddenly seeing his son Alex.
"Alex!," Rick said startled making the younger companion turn.
"What are you doing down here Alex?," she asked as she gave him a pointed look.
"What were you thinking, mummy came back to life?,"
"We'll tell you the story sometime but it's dangerous down here," Rick said to his son.
"Trust me it's worth the wait to hear it," the young lady said as she put her gun away.
"What are you doing down here thought we told you to wait for us in the temple?," Rick asked his son wondering what could have made him come down to find them.
"But dad I saw your tattoo," Alex said grabbing Rick's wrist yanking his leather cuff from where it hid the medjai tattoo on his wrist.
Only reason the young lady knew what it was was cause she mentioned it to Ardeth last she saw him, and sadly she missed him more they were apart although she knew she couldn't have him.
"You saw what?,"
"On a wall by the entrance there's a cartouche just like it with the pyramids, and the eye, and the two kings, and everything," Alex excitedly said pointing at his dad's wrist.
"Told you that mark meant something," muttered the young lady.
"Hush it Lily no one likes a know it all,"
"No you just hate to be wrong," Lily replied as she swept a lock of her fiery red hair that had escaped its ponytail out of her face.
Turning back to his son Rick responded to him. "Really?,"
"Really,"
"Ok well I'll be up to take a look at that in a minute,"
"But,"
"No but's in the mean time I want you to wait for me,your mother, and aunt Alex up there, now pick up your stuff and meet us up in the temple,"
"But," Alex tried to talk again only to see his dad point and say go again.
Picking up his stuff Alex turned walking backwards as he spoke to his dad.
"Go on,"
"And what should I do?,"
"I don't know surprise me... build a better mousetrap," Rick muttered.
"Ok," Alex responded taking off.
"While your mother desecrates another tomb,"
"She isn't that bad," Lily said laughing at the expression that Rick's face morphed into as she said it.
"Ok ok I know the situation with Imhotep was her fault, as was the events following it but really it's not like she meant to,"
"Keep thinking that," Rick replied as they entered the room where Evy was dusting off a wall.
Moving quick Lily and Rick jumped apart as a Egyptian asp went flying past them.
"Those are poisonous you know," Rick said pointing behind him.
"Only if they bite you," Evy said before turning back to her wall.
Lily and Rick shared a look they knew all too well, a shared bad feeling of the place.
"What was that all about?," Evy asked referring the situation in the hallway.
"Oh nothing Alex wanted to show me something. I swear kid gets more and more like you every day,"
"What you mean more attractive, sweet, and devilishly charming," Evy said turning and stepping up to Rick flirting with him.
"No he's driving me crazy," Rick said before kissing Evy as Lily let out a laugh at the comment.
"Now where were we?," Lily said as she turned to face the wall.
"Hammer and chisel," Evy replied turning around to face Rick and Lily holding the smallest tools she had ever seen.
Lily raise her eyebrow in a 'seriously' look as Evy caved in.
"Oh alright alright let's do it your way," she said handing Rick a crowbar.
"Thank you," Rick replied before turning and swinging giving the wall one good hit before it fell in.
Lily stepped back a few feet as she noticed the floor filled with scorpions and tarantulas.
"Guy's I'm good you go on ahead I'll stay here,"
"Don't think so," Rick said making Lily shriek as he picked her up carrying her over the floor of creatures she hated.
"Ricky I hate it when you do that,"
"And I hate that nickname now we're even," Lily quickly swatted her brother on the arm and stayed close to the wall waiting for Evy to open the door.
"Ever since I had that dream this place is all I can think about,"
"And ever since you had that dream I haven't had a decent night sleep,"
"I feel like I've been here before, I know I've been here before " Evy pointed out.
"No one's been here before Evy, not in at least three thousand years, except these guys," Lily pointed out to her sister in law.
Turning Evy quietly pulls a lever that not even Lily and Rick knew was there.
"Then how does it seem I know excatly where I'm going?," Evy asked as they stepped inside the room.
Entering another hallway Rick and Lily moved towards what looked like a door. Handing his pack to his sister Rick began trying to pry the door open with the crowbar.
"You know if you move that fast enough you can almost write your name,"
"I just had a vision, it was just like my dream, but it was real," Evy said stunned at what had just happened.
"It was like I was here in ancient times,"
"Well if you were here do you mind opening the door," Lily replied.
As Evy opened the door Lily and Rick looked shocked.
"Ok now your starting to scare me,"
"I'm starting to scare myself," Evy replied.
Reaching up Lily brushed dust and cobwebs off a golden plate that sat in the room.
"The emblem of the Scorpion King," Lily said.
"It is suppose to be pure myth, no trace of him has ever been found before. No artifacts, no archival evidence,"
"Maybe they didn't want anyone to find him," Lily pointed out.
"Let's open this," Evy said looking for a way to open the chest.
"Evy I don't know, I don't have a real good feeling about this," Rick said worriedly.
"It's only a chest, no harm came from opening a chest,"
"Ha, just like no harm comes from reading a book and you remember how that one turned out,"
"Oh come on we can't stop now,"
"Just remember we were the voices of reasons,"
"For once," Evy said taking the crowbar from Rick's outstretched hand.
Turning Rick began to examine the Medjai warriors that died next to the chest protecting it.
Taking the key from the neck on the one next to him Rick held it out to Evy.
"Hun how about we do it your way," smiling at Rick Evy took the key from him and placed it in the lock.
Standing back Lily moved to the doorway unsure what was going to happen and watched as the chest creaked open.
"The bracelet of Anubis," Evy said in shock.
Suddenly the walls began to creek and crack.
"Oh my god," Evy began to freak out turning throwing the bracelet back in it's chest.
"It's a litte late for that!," Lily exclaimed as she rushed toward her brother's side.
"Here put it in your rucksack," Evy said shoving the chest at Rick.
"What I got a better idea let's leave it here,"
"I think it's a bit late for that,"
"Why what does it say?,"
"Thee who disturbs this chest shall drink from the Nile. Doesn't sound so bad to me," Evy declared.
Suddenly the sound of gushing water came from close by rushing out the door of the room Rick, Lily, and Evy had to make a left hand detour to avoid the huge amount of water coming at them from the way they had just arrived.
All of a sudden they were trapped in a room with no way out. Rick pulled his two ladies close holding tight as the water covered them.
"This is bad Evy,"
"We've had bad before," Evy pointed out as they held onto the bars in the top of the room fearing death was about to come for them.
"This is worst," Lily pointed out.
Suddenly the wall of the room broke and they went flying out of the room on the tidal wave of water. Lily glared at Evy as she stood feeling like a drenched dog. Turning on her heel Lily left the temple to dry out in the sun for a few minutes alone.
She should have known something like this would happen every time Evy or Jonathon was around it was either mummies or life and death situations. She loved her sister in law but she hated the bad side effects of travelling with her family.
