Disclaimer: I do NOT own The Chosen. Dallas Jenkins does and I am NOT making any money off of this. I only own my Original Character: Miriam. And none of the events with Miriam happened in the Bible. Thank you and God Bless you.

Summary: When Simon and Eden's 15-year-old daughter witnesses her mother's miscarriage, she feels broken beyond repair and misses her dad even more than she already did. But when he comes home, nothing is what she imagined. Slightly AU.

TW: Talk of miscarriage

It had been the worst night of Miriam's life, witnessing the death of her unborn sibling and she had been there for her mother ever since. She helped around the house more than normal, stopped spending time with her friends and just buried herself in any task she could to get the traumatic incident out of her head.

Her mother had tried to comfort her when she cried, but she shut her out. Not that she meant to, but she just didn't know how to handle the situation. She needed to be alone to grieve her sibling. Not that it was the best situation, but it was all Miriam could do not to fall apart. And her father not being there made it worse. He was her best friend. So was her mother, but she and her father had a special bond that no one could break. So the day he came home was a happy one for her despite how broken she felt inside.

She walked inside from a walk gasping now as she saw her father in the kitchen.

"Abba!" she exclaimed now, running right to her beloved father, wrapping her arms around his neck as he lifted her up into his arms.

"There's my little angel!" he exclaimed, kissing her cheek and forehead before setting her back down.

"She's not that little anymore Simon" Eden said with a smile on her face, watching the father and daughter interact. It warmed her heart even though it was broken.

"Yeah but she'll always be my little girl" he said, hugging Miriam close to his chest as she closed her tired eyes.

"She looks pale Eden. Is everything alright?"

Simon took a closer look at his daughter now, pushing some of her hair out of her face. She had lost some weight and her face was pale. This was not his cheerful Miriam. There was something up with his daughter and he was going to get to the bottom of it.

"She's just tired is all. And she missed her Abba." It wasn't a lie. Miriam was exhausted and she had missed her dad.

But she had made a deal with her mom that she would handle telling Simon what happened and not Miriam. Eden looked over at her daughter now and rubbed her back gently.

"Sweetheart, why don't you get a nap with you're Abba and I'll go to market" Eden said, kissing her head gently.

"Yeah I think that's a good idea" Simon said kissing Eden before lifting his little girl into his arms, carrying her into his and Eden's room. No way was he going to spend a minute without his daughter just when he had gotten home.

Miriam snuggled against her father's chest as he lay down next to her, stroking her hair. "You know I really missed you sweetheart" he whispered gently before kissing her forehead.

"I missed you too Abba" she said softly, finally able to drift off in her father's arms. She felt safe and warm there. Something she hadn't felt for weeks. That was until the nightmare came.

Simon woke up suddenly to his daughter whimpering and crying in his arms. "Miriam. Honey wake up" he said softly, shaking her gently.

Her eyes opened suddenly and she looked around the room, slowly taking in her surroundings before her watery eyes focused on her father. "Abba..." she broke into sobs in his arms, hiding her face in his shoulder as she cried. "Don't let me go!"

"Hey...hey it's okay sweetheart I'm right here. I'm home. I'm not going anywhere. What is wrong?"

"Miriam?" Eden came rushing into the room now, attempting to pull her daughter away from her dad and into a hug, but Miriam would not let her father go.

"Eden what is happening?" Simon asked, looking right into his wife's eyes, making her sigh and lower her head.

"Simon before you left...We concieved a child and while you were gone, I lost it" Eden said looking down.

"And she was there?" he asked, looking down at his distraught child.

"She was. I regret that she was but it was very sudden."

Simon bit his lip as tears flowed down his cheeks, kissing his daughter's head as he rocked her back and forth. After a moment he extended an arm to Eden and she climbed onto the bed, holding her husband and her daughter.

Over the next couple days, Miriam could sense the tension between her parents and even her parents and Jesus. She knew that they were mad at him for not stopping this when he could. But she wasn't mad at all. Eden and Simon had started to fight more and it was affecting her in every way. She didn't want her parents to split up and she was beginning to lose control of her life and it was starting to scare her.

Simon had stayed out late a couple nights and came home with a hangover only to find his little girl asleep on the couch waiting for him. He knew that he needed to get his act together for her and her mother, but he didn't know how. He remembered how scared she had been when he had made that deal with Quintus all those months ago. Afraid of losing her Abba to the Romans and staying with him all night on his boat with him.

One night he didn't even come home and was gone the next day as well. That was when Salome, Zebedee and Mary had come to see if the two of them were alright. She had stayed in her room crying softly, not wanting anyone but her family to see her tears. Her Abba was on yet another mission and here she was alone again.

The next day her mother went to see a Rabbi and she stayed by herself. She had alot of time to think as she made some soup expertly like her mother had taught her. She wanted to be there for her mom, but Eden had insisted that her daughter stay home, not wanting to make her anymore upset than she already was with the situation and without her father.

That night there was a huge storm and the teenage girl was curled up in bed, wrapped in one of her father's blankets, staring out the window at the lightning in the sky. It had a calming effect on her whenever she was troubled. For some reason she found herself whispering the words 'Don't let Abba go' over and over again until she was asleep. Her mother had come home that night to find her daughter in her bed remembering how things were when she was a baby.

Miriam was their little girl. Their light in the dark world that they lived in that was overseen by Rome. She laid down next to her daughter, stroking her hair gently as she stirred a little.

"Eema?" she asked softly, opening her eyes a bit.

"It's okay love. I'm here." Eden said softly as she pushed some of Miriam's hair behind her ear.

And for the first time since that tragic night, Miriam let her mother hold her as she cried into her chest. "Eema I'm sorry for pushing you away."

"Shh...Miriam it's okay love. You needed to process things on you're own. I know you are at a very difficult age in you're life and you're father being away doesn't help things I know. You two are very close and I am in no way hurt by that."

She held her daughter tightly until they were both asleep. The storm was over.

The next thing Miriam felt was a hand stroking her hair and a gentle kiss on her cheek. "It's time to wake up little girl" a familiar voice said into her ear.

Her eyes opened instantly and she shot up in bed, wrapping her arms around her father who was sitting next to her. "Abba!" she exclaimed, hiding her face in his chest as he wrapped his arms around her.

He laughed softly and kissed her cheek once more, running a hand through her hair. "I'm here Miriam. I'm here."

The two sat in silence for a few minutes, Simon holding onto his daughter tighter than he usually would. He had missed her very much.

"Hey if you hurry up and get dressed, we can have some breakfast and you and I can have a whole day together. Just you and me. How does that sound?"

"Perfect!" she exclaimed, laughing as her father ruffled her hair before walking out of the room.

Five minutes later, Miriam was sitting at the table with her parents, laughing and joking with the two of them just as they used to do as a family. It was one of the happiest meals that she had with her parents in a very long time.

Pretty soon, Miriam and her father were out on the boat in the middle of the sea. They did no fishing. This time Miriam was snuggled into her father's arms as he sat and looked out at the ocean in front of him before turning back to his daughter, stroking her hair out of her face.

"I remember the day you were born. I think it may have been the happiest day of my life. Most father's would hope for a son but not me. I was hoping for a beautiful little girl who I could spoil. To chase all the boys down the block if they ever came close to you."

Miriam laughed and shook her head. "Yeah you don't let any of them come close to me" she said, kissing her dad's cheek, his beard tickling her a little.

Simon smiled down at her now, rubbing her side gently as he nuzzled into her hair. "I made you a promise that I really have not kept Miriam."

"What's that?" she asked now as she looked up at him curiously.

"To never leave you. Not even for a few days. To never let you out of my sight. But then here I am following Jesus and leaving you here alone for months on end.

"Abba it's okay" she said softly.

"No it's not. You are my baby girl and here I am hearing about how depressed you are when I'm gone. This is not fair to you."

Miriam wiped her cheeks a little before looking into her dad's comforting brown eyes. "I guess you've been talking to Eema huh?"

"I have. And we have both decided that you are coming with me on my missions with Jesus. I want you to learn from him anyway. He's a good role model."

"Abba you are my greatest role model!"

Simon kissed her forehead and rubbed his nose against her's gently. "You are my greatest treasure Miriam. Next to you're Eema of course. You are a precious gem and you should be happy. I don't want to hear about you being sad all the time. So no arguing."

He placed his forehead on her's and smiled. "You are coming with me little girl."

Miriam smiled and wrapped her arms around her father's neck now, hugging him tight. "Thank you Abba" she whispered softly into his shoulder as he rubbed her back.

"I love you Miriam" Simon said softly.

"I love you more Abba."
