"Hyrule has changed drastically since my last... visit," Vaati, the lavender haired sorcerer, thought aloud. Sneering, the boy kicked at a green Chuchu bumping into him, making the poor creature wobble in an agitated manner.

Vaati sighed, and resumed his watch. Within a few moments the green slime-like creature was back to its position of bumping against his leg.

"If you wish to be near me then answer me this. With everything that has changed, why are you still here? Hyrule looks like a different country. What do you think of it, little... blobby thing?"

The creature just wobbled into his knee once more. Attempting an intelligent conversation with animated jelly was not what one would call sane, however Vaati was not someone who prided himself on his sanity. Many years ago, the pale Picori attempted a takeover of the kingdom, and according to legend, he was thwarted by a hero in a green tunic much like the great Evils that have awoken throughout Hyrule.

Vaati thought back to that fateful day, where the hero saved the princess and the kingdom. His goals were simple, and not ones he wished to revisit. Being locked away between time and space would do that to a person, or well, a Picori. Most Hylians thought the events of that time were mere tales, as no one had seen the Picori for thousands of years, and the gate that was meant to open every 100 years hadn't opened since. While most of the people of Hyrule thought that Vaati was killed in the final battle, his old mentor, Ezlo, took pity on him and imprisoned him. Whatever plane of existence that Vaati was banished to promptly spat the poor boy out into the middle of Market Square, in Castle Town, leaving a very disoriented boy face first in a fountain.

With no knowledge of where he was, or when he was, he headed for what seemed the most reasonable place at the time. The local library.

Surprisingly, there was very little information on the Castle Town of the past, and even Kinstones seemed to be removed from this 'history' book. Vaati was nothing if not resourceful, so decided to read up on all the important locations in this Hyrule, just to get his bearings and figure out what the next move would be. It seemed that as no one knew who he was, at the very least it would be easier to move throughout the world without people claiming that they saw some sort of villain from the legends.

As ridiculous as it sounded, he decided to break stuff, partially as a replacement for therapy, but more so because in his time the Hero would do this and money just... popped out of the ground or from inside the pots. After a while, Vaati was exhausted, but he had enough money to both get a basic sword from a blacksmith nearby and had enough left over to buy a meal and a room for the night.

Falling asleep, Vaati dreamt for the first time in a millennia, of a world in which he could live peacefully. It was a very short lived dream, he was interrupted by a commotion outside, and crept down after adjusting the sword on his back.

"HAH! Some kid in a weird green dress was caught by the royal guard and chucked back out of the gardens! The nerve of today's youth," shaking her head, the innkeeper was laughing with either a friend or coworker.

Vaati tuned the rest of the conversation out and practically sprinted out of the inn to wherever these royal gardens supposedly were. As it turned out, they weren't far from Castle Town, and the mage saw a kid about his age talking with a fairy. He had enough with the way things were 'supposed to be' and chose to approach this green clad kid. Vaati clambered down the rocky outcropping near the gatehouse, and used a small bit of wind magic to dust himself off before speaking to the one he could only assume would be the hero of this age.

"Link! Watch out! I don't know this creature's weak point!"

Navi, Link's fairy, was not very high on Link's list of favorite sentient beings. Her main 'purpose' was to tell Link things he was already aware of, and to scream at him if he was doing a puzzle wrong.

"Navi, that's not a creature, that's called a person." Link spoke with the patience of a saint.

"Hi... I overheard from the innkeeper that you were trying to sneak past the gardens and got caught? I might be able to help..." Vaati put out his hand for Link to shake, like he'd read about in etiquette books in the library.

"There is a malicious aura around him! Don't trust him!" The little thing screeched on and on about how evil the mage was, who merely blinked in response, waiting to see if he initiated the greeting correctly. The green hatted hero took Vaati's hand and shook it.

"My name is Link! What's yours?"

"Vaati."

"Cool! Do you have any ideas on how to get past these guards?"

"I can make us float with the wind, perks of knowing magic." Smirking, Vaati conjured a whirlwind that took them to the inner area near the Princess' room.

As he hadn't used his magic in a while, Vaati overshot the landing, leaving him, Link and Navi tangled together in a heap in front of Zelda, the princess of Hyrule.

"Who are you?!"
