Dawn of The Legion - Chapter 1: The Accident
It was a nice October afternoon. The students of Alberta High were on a field trip to see a brand new invention from Bartcorp industries. A super collider that could be used to change the world as we know it. All of the teenagers were on the bus and chatting amongst themselves during the ride. A boy named Ezekiel sat next to his cousin, Shawn. Shawn was one of Ezekiel's only friends, and tended to stick by his side. Ezekiel looked out the window while listening to music, watching as the trees zoomed by as the bus moved closer and closer to the Bartcorp building. When they arrived, the students walked off the bus, talking. Ezekiel waited until everyone else was off for him to get out of his seat to get off. When he did, he ran into someone in front of him. "Oh, sorry eh!" he said while rubbing his head. The person turned around to face him. It was a girl. "It's okay, it was an accident." she said to him while smiling. Ezekiel noticed he had dropped his things, and went to pick them up, but the girl grabbed them for him and handed them to him. "Here, you dropped these." she said to him. Ezekiel grabbed his things and thanked her. "I'm Dawn, by the way." "My name is Ezekiel, nice to meet you." he said, introducing himself. "C'MON, GET OFF THE BUS ALREADY!" the bus driver yelled at them. Dawn turned around and walked off the bus, followed by Ezekiel. When Ezekiel got off the bus, he walked to catch up to the group of kids. "Hey, Ezekiel? Do you want to walk together? I noticed you have nobody to talk to." Dawn said to him. "Sure eh, thanks!" Ezekiel said to her, grateful that he wouldn't need to find his cousin.
Ezekiel and Dawn walked with each other as they went on the tour of Bartcorp. When they got to the middle of the building, their principal, Chris McLean, split the class into groups of 7, and told them to go look around and explore until the collider was to be turned on. Ezekiel's group consisted of: Ezekiel, Dawn, a boy named Tyler, a boy named Topher, a girl named Bridgette, one of Ezekiel's few friends Harold, and a boy named Brick. Ezekiel was familiar with Tyler and Topher. Tyler was the school's football quarterback, and Topher was the second most popular guy in school. He didn't know Brick, but did know Bridgette. She was one of the only people who was nice to him, even if they weren't official friends. He walked over to Harold with Dawn following him. "Hey Harold, what are you up to?" he asked. "Oh, hey Zeke. I'm just looking at these prototypes and models for unfinished products. It's advanced stuff. But luckily I went to Hacker Steve's hacking camp, so I'm good." Harold explained. Ezekiel looked at Dawn, who looked at him too, before just looking at whatever Harold was looking at. Their group walked around together, looking at things for a while until they saw a group of boys sneaking off from their group. "Hey, where are you guys going?" Bridgette asked them. The group of boys turned to them, and Ezekiel instantly recognized who they were. It was Elias Bartlett and his three main friends, Alex, Caelen, and Logan. Elias was the first most popular kid in their school. He was the son of Jason Bartlett, the CEO of Bartcorp. Elias was rich, handsome, powerful, charming, charismatic, and likeable. "We're sneaking into the room of the collider. Since I'm the son of the CEO, I have access to every room in this place. You guys can come if you want." Elias offered. "I'm game, guy!" Tyler shouted. Everyone else in the group agreed. Everyone other than Ezekiel. He was nervous, since he had never really broken a rule before. Then, he felt something grab his hand. "I can see in your aura that you're nervous. You don't have to go in if you don't want to." Dawn said to him as she grabbed his hand. "C'mon little dude, it'll be fun!" Tyler said to him whilst patting him on the back. "He doesn't have to go in, Tyler." Bridgette said, defending Ezekiel. "No, I'll go in. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity." Ezekiel said, regaining his confidence. "Good man, you love to hear it." Caelen said, wrapping his arm around Ezekiel's neck in a bro way. "Well then, let's go." Elias said, leading the group aside.
After some sneaking around, Elias had lead them into the room of the collider. The room was lit with a blue coloring from the collider itself. There were different things in the room too, such as a display of spiders, a case filled with lightning trapped in bottles, and some other things. The group looked around the room, and explored different things. Elias and Caelen were talking to Brick, Tyler, Ezekiel, and Harold were looking at the spiders, Bridgette and Dawn were looking at a display of water being manipulated by magnets, and Topher was taking a selfie with Alex and Logan. Everything was going fine for the next five minutes. Everyone was bonding. But then, there was a scuffle. Tyler and Brick were arguing about who was stronger, and this led to the two doing things to one up the other. As they did this, Ezekiel leaned against the display of lightning in a bottle. Elias walked over and stood next to him. "So, Ezekiel is it? What do you think? Cool huh?" Elias asked Ezekiel. "Oh, yeah. This is a cool place, eh." Ezekiel responded. "I've noticed you have taken a liking to Dawn." Elias then said. "We're just friends eh." he said. "I can tell, you are starting to have a crush on her. It's a guy thing, we can tell." Elias said. Ezekiel took a second to think. Did he like Dawn? He had only just started to get to know her, but he remembered something Shawn had told him about guys easily developing crushes. "I'm afraid I can't let it continue, Ezekiel. I like you, but I like her too." Elias said. Ezekiel looked at him with wide eyes. "I've managed to have a thing with every girl I want. Every girl, other than Dawn. She's not like the other girls who are easily swayed. Sure, Bridgette isn't either, but she's dating Geoff unfortunately," Elias spoke "So I'm going to have to put an end to this. Sorry." Elias finished. Ezekiel looked at Dawn, recognizing that he liked her more than a friend, and then looked at Elias. Elias was tall, and handsome. Ezekiel was average height, and wasn't super attractive. As he was thinking about what Elias had said, he heard a loud bang, followed by red lights, and a loud alarm noise filling the room. "YOU IDIOT!" Brick yelled. Ezekiel looked over, and saw that Tyler had punched the collider, puncturing it, and causing it to meltdown. "No...NO! MY DAD IS GONNA KILL ME!" Elias yelled. Elias shoved Tyler aside, knocking him back into the case of spiders. The case broke, and the spiders were all over Tyler. Elias tampered with the buttons, but as he did, the collider exploded. This released an unsafe amount of energy, and knocked everyone back. Ezekiel and Elias were launched back into the case of lightning, Bridgette was knocked back into the water that was being manipulated, Dawn, Brick, and Topher were knocked to the ground, but were absorbing a lot of the energy, and Harold used all of his might to stand against the blast, which was pushing him HARD. He stood there, absorbing the energy for a solid ten seconds, before passing out and being launched into the wall. Alex and Logan, who were both trying to hold the collider together were also knocked out. The collider went off for a good minute before professionals got it to stop.
Two months later...
Ezekiel opened his eyes and saw blinding lights. "Agh! Am I in heaven eh?" he aked. "Joseph! He's awake!" Ezekiel heard his Mother yell. "Ezekiel, son? How do you feel, eh?" his Dad asked him. "I feel fine. Where am I?" Ezekiel asked. "You're in the hospital. You've been in a coma for two months. Those science people found you in the room where an explosion happened. What were you doing in there? You know you're not supposed to snoop around." His father asked. "I...was lost. I couldn't find anyone else eh. I just decided to go in there and wait it out until someone walked past." he lied. He couldn't tell them that he was breaking the rules on purpose. "Where are my friends, eh?" he asked. "They're here too. But don't you worry about that, eh. Me and your Father are going to get you home, and we're going to have you rest." his mother said to him. When the doctor came back to his room, Ezekiel's parents spoke to the doctor, and told them that he was feeling fine, and that he can go home now. After some convincing, the doctor let Ezekiel go home.
Ezekiel lived in a big house on a farm. When he got home, the first thing that happened was his dog, Cooper, ran over and jumped on him. "Down, Cooper!" Ezekiel laughed. Ezekiel walked into his house, and went up to his room. He had a decently large room. He had a desk with a computer, bookshelves, a dresser, and a dog bed for Cooper. Ezekiel flopped onto his bed, and closed his eyes. He felt around his pocket for his phone, and his earbuds, and he listened to music.
Over the next few days, Ezekiel was taking it easy. But after a week, he was back to helping around the farm. Ezekiel was asleep in bed, when his Father opened the door "Ezekiel, wake up. Some of the chickens got out of the coop, and I need you to chase them down, eh. Also, Shawn is coming by later to visit you, so be expecting him." his Father said before closing the door. Ezekiel rubbed his eyes and groaned before getting out of bed. He put on his jeans, socks, boots, and green hoodie, not putting on his toque. Ezekiel walked downstairs and ate some toast and drank some coffee before going outside to get the chickens. Ezekiel went to run after one of them, and when he did, he started moving insanely fast. He screamed before he used all his force to stop. He was a mile away from the farm, and in the middle of a soybean field on his farm. Ezekiel looked around, confused, before running back. He moved super fast again before crashing into a haybale. A smile grew across his face. He put in his earbuds, and put music on his phone. He decided to play the song "Alright" by Supergrass. He got into the Speedy Gonzales running position before taking off down the road. He ran for two seconds before he was already in the city. He had a huge smile on his face as he zoomed past the buildings and cars. Time seemed to be slowed down as he ran by. He noticed a man holding a hot dog and snatched it out of his hand, eating it as he ran. He raced all around the city, passing people, animals, and buildings. The air blew in his face as he zoomed around. Eventually, he ran back to his farm, and ran around the field, grabbing all the chickens and putting them back in the coop, along with getting all the cores for the day done in less than a second. As he was running, he smelled burning. He looked down and saw his shoes smoking. His hoodie was also on fire. Ezekiel panicked and tore off his hoodie, and slid to a stop, raking off his shoes and holding his feet. He fell back onto the grass, and took his earbuds out. Ezekiel laughed at his newfound ability, before opening his eyes, and seeing his cousin, Shawn, right next to him with wide eyes. "H-how did you-?!" Shawn stammered. "Oh fuck" Ezekiel said in response.
