Several years after Eddy comes to stay with the McDucks.

I can't help but roll my eyes. I leave for three minutes to get popcorn, and Eddy is already at the edge of the pier staring out over the water. He has that distant look in his eyes that says he's overthinking something again. I walk up next to him.

"What's it now?" I ask.

He jumps, and for a moment, he looks at me with pure terror. But that passes quickly as he shakes his head and takes the popcorn bucket I offer him.

"Are we sure this is a good idea?" he asks, taking a handful of popcorn and shaking it in his hand, "I mean, I love you and am thankful to whatever forces conspired for us to meet, but- well, your family is high profile with a lot of enemies. Is it really a good idea for us to add to the Clan? Infants are helpless, after all."

"A little late to worry about that, isn't it?" I raise an eyebrow.

Eddy flushes, then gives an embarrassed chuckle.

"I know, I just-" he trails off.

"Hey, honey, look at me," I put my hand on his shoulder, and he looks back at me, "Sure, my family fights monsters and villains regularly, but that's the thing: we fight them. The Duck family is tough. Our kids will be just as tough."

Eddy smiles, but it doesn't reach his eyes. He throws his handful of popcorn out on the water, where the seagulls and ducks start squalling over them.

"Of course," he watches the birds fight, "Once they grow up."
