A/N: I'm not the biggest KibaHina fan, but since I love chicken wings so much, and since KagamiPINKAgreste likes this pairing, I thought it was only fitting to do this story. Enjoy!

The heat was on like Glenn Frey in The Village Hidden In the Leaves, and Kiba Inuzuka hoofed it down the street. A few hours ago, Hinata Hyuga had invited him to her place for supper, and he wasn't sure what she was going to be cooking, but he'd had her cooking before and enjoyed it. Still, it wasn't often that she invited him over, and usually, it was for special occasions. However, he couldn't recall any special occasions being held today, and if there were, she certainly hadn't told him about it, which made him wonder that much more. However, he stopped ruminating about it and figured that today would be a good opportunity to tell her how he'd really felt about her all these years. Soon enough, he reached her place, and knocked on the door.

"Coming!"

Soon enough, Hinata opened the door. Today, she had her light blue hoodie unzipped, exposing a black sports bra and denim short shorts, which Kiba immediately took notice of:

"That's an interesting outfit, Hinata."

"Well, it was really hot today, so I thought I could use fewer layers." Hinata smiled. "Come on in, Kiba!"

Kiba took off his sandals, and Hinata closed the door behind him as he entered.

"So, how are you today, Kiba?"

"I'm all right. Granted, that Naruto guy was kinda bein' an ass, but it was nothin' I couldn't handle. How 'bout you?"

"Oh, pretty good, although I thought about how much I miss Neji today." Hinata averted her gaze.

Kiba put a hand on Hinata's shoulder. "Hey, I don't know how ya feel, but it's OK to feel sad. I'll always be here for ya."

Hinata looked Kiba in the eyes and smiled. "Thank you, Kiba. You're one of my favorite people."

Kiba smiled. "As are you. Actually, on that note, there's somethin' I wanted to tell ya…"

Hinata's look turned serious. "Oh?"

"I know what you're gonna say seein' how ya feel about Naruto, but the truth is, Hinata, I…well I…"

"Yes?"

Kiba shook his head. "Damn it, there's no other way to say this, so I'll be straight on: Hinata, I like you."

Hinata gasped and put her hands over her mouth as she blushed. While she had seen Kiba as one of her best friends, she never expected him to feel this way about her, and it was sending her mind into overdrive. Nevertheless, she knew how to respond:

"Oh Kiba, I…I like you too!"

Hinata gave Kiba a big hug, which he gladly returned. While glad that she was reciprocating his feelings, in reality, he'd always been nervous around women, which caused him to blush as well. Even so, he enjoyed the hug, not only because it helped greatly with his self-esteem and anxiety, but because she was so soft, warm and cuddly. Every second they remained in this embrace, all he could think about was how he was a luckier man than Emerson, Lake & Palmer and how he was looking forward to spending even more moments of his life with her. Likewise, Hinata was also looking forward to being with Kiba more in the future. Granted, she was still pretty shocked by his confession, but on the other hand, she enjoyed his company, and she figured that it was natural that things should progress to this point. Like him, she enjoyed being in his arms, not only because she felt snuggly in them, but also because she felt safe and like she could absolutely trust him. Eventually, she let go, as did he.

"Anyways, why don't I prepare supper?" said Hinata.

Hinata went to the kitchen, while Kiba had a little look around the living room. Here, he couldn't help but notice what a minimalist Hinata was, although he noticed some souvenirs from earlier in her career as a ninja. Around this time, he could hear the familiar sound of oil spattering, which told him that she was frying something. Shortly thereafter, the savory smell of fried food caressed his nostrils, beckoning him with the siren song of crunchy, tasty goodness. He slowly walked into the kitchen, following the scent, and when he saw Hinata cooking, Kiba stealthily approached her from behind and hugged her, which caused her to gasp.

"Kiba, what are you doing!?"

"Sorry, whatever you're cookin' smells really good."

Kiba let his hands travel down to Hinata's belly until she gently pushed him away.

"OK, just let me cook, Kiba."

Kiba chuckled. "As ya wish!"

Kiba sat down at the table and eagerly awaited whatever Hinata was cooking. In the meantime, though, he couldn't help but stare at her ass. However, his gaze was interrupted when…

"OK, it's ready!"

Hinata set down a platter of fried chicken wings, which Kiba eyed curiously.

"Hmmm…I don't usually go for chicken, but those smell good, so I'll try some."

Kiba grabbed a plate and served himself, as did Hinata. Despite being more into beef, he sunk his teeth in and chowed down. After a few bites, he nodded.

"This is good. Like I said, I don't usually like chicken, but this is the best I've had by far. What made ya wanna cook this?"

"Well, today is National Chicken Wing Day!" Hinata took another bite of her wing.

"That a fact? Never heard of that holiday before."

"Naruto told me about it. I tried some chicken wings once at a local restaurant, so I decided to try cooking some for myself."

Kiba swallowed. "Well, cook 'em more often! Hell, make some chicken fried steak while you're at it, too!"

Hinata smiled. "I might just try that out!"

"Thanks, Hinata! You really are the best!"

Hinata smiled and blushed.

After they finished the chicken wings, Kiba and Hinata cleaned up after themselves.

"Hinata, thanks again for invitin' me over! This was one of the best meals I've ever had!"

"You're welcome, Kiba! You can stay the night if you'd like!"

"Thanks, but I just remembered I forgot to feed Akamaru; he gets cranky when he's hungry. I'll be back soon, though!"

"Then at least let me give you this!"

Hinata wrapped her arms around Kiba and kissed him, and he returned the gesture. Unlike some other guys, Kiba didn't get flustered when he felt Hinata's lips against his. In fact, he gladly melted into her touch, letting his spine chill with the feverish anticipation of doing more with her in the future. Granted, the kiss didn't last too long, but for him, it was a lifetime.

"Thanks, Hinata! See ya in a bit!"

"You're welcome!"

Kiba and Hinata waved at each other as the former headed back home to his faithful canine companion, happy with the direction his life was taking.
