A/N: Yes, National Chicken Wing Day is a real holiday, having been declared by the city of Buffalo, New York on this day in 1977. Since the lovely KagamiPINKAgreste was kind enough to regale me with fics about National Hazelnut Cake Day, I thought I'd give it a try with my favorite food holiday and my favorite Sonic pairing. Enjoy!

It was a hot summer day in the Kingdom of Mobius, but that didn't drive Sonic the Hedgehog out of the kitchen/dining room of his cabin by Azure Lake. When he felt like cooking, nothing was going to stop him, and today was no exception. Thus far, his latest dish was going well. Then, he heard knocking on the door. His Hedgehog Sense tingled, telling him that there was a familiar face awaiting him.

"Come in! It's unlocked!"

The door opened, and in stepped…

"Hey there, Big Blue!"

Sonic turned around. "Rouge! What brings ya here, Mama?"

"Well, it is suppertime, and I wanted to share in whatever you were cooking. You're OK with that, right?"

Sonic gave a thumbs up. "More than OK! Actually, I was hopin' someone would come along and dig into what I got!"

Rouge took a few steps towards Sonic. "And what do you have?"

"Chicken wings!"

Rouge put her index finger on her chin. "Chicken wings, you say? I was expecting you to make your famous chili dogs."

"Well, today is National Chicken Wing Day, so I just couldn't resist!"

"Hmmm…I prefer chicken tenders myself, but I do love a good chicken wing. What sauces do you have?"

Sonic smirked. "What sauce do ya want?"

Rouge chuckled. "How about some honey mustard, you cheeky little so-and-so?"

"Comin' up!"

Once the chicken wings were done, Sonic placed half of them in a large bowl, and then placed the rest in an equally large bowl. He tossed one batch in a spicy BBQ sauce – what some markets would call "Buff-A-Que" – and the other batch in honey mustard sauce.

"Come and get it, Rouge!"

Sonic set both plates down on the dining room table, and him and Rouge proceeded to chow down. Rouge let out a seductive "mmmm" as the savoriness of the chicken and the sweet tanginess of the honey mustard beckoned her taste buds on a journey to Flavortown. Sonic even took notice of this:

"You must really be diggin' those."

Rouge swallowed. "Like you wouldn't believe, honey!"

After setting the used chicken bone aside, Rouge grabbed another chicken wing and proceeded to put it in her mouth in a suggestive manner and moan, which not only caused Sonic to put down the wing he was eating, but also blush when he saw this. After she took a bite and swallowed, Rouge proceeded to lay it on thick:

"Yeah, Sonic? You like when I suck on the bones? I bet you'd love it if I sucked on your bone!"

Sonic smiled. "Right on! If ya wanna do it that bad, I'm sure we can work somethin' out!"

Rouge laughed.

"What?" said Sonic.

"I'm sorry, it's just…most people would've melted in the face of my flirtiness, but you…you really take it like a man, and that's hot!"

"Ya know what else is hot? The fact that you take the time to acknowledge me as a person and treat me with love and respect!"

"Oh, of course! You're such a great guy, Sonic, and you deserve to have someone as sexy and kind as me by your side!"

"Usually, I ain't one for romance, but you…you make me feel like no other woman can, and that makes me feel happy." Sonic took another bite of a chicken wing.

Rouge smiled. "You make me feel happy too, you know. To be honest, I've been with a bunch of guys who treated me like crap, so knowing that you're being so kind to me is such a relief." She took another bite of a wing.

"Well, I believe in treatin' women with respect. Believe me, I've heard one too many stories about guys treatin' women bad, and it disappoints me and makes me angry that anybody would do that."

"I know, right?"

"Anyways, how's Shad doin'?"

Rouge swallowed. "He's actually doing all right. He's been volunteering at an animal shelter in Emerald City, and he tells me he really enjoys it. Heck, he even adopted a cute little kitty!"

Sonic laughed. "Mama, you're jivin' me! I knew Shad was somethin', but I didn't think he'd ever go for cats!"

Rouge smiled. "I kid you not! You'd be surprised how well those two have taken to each other!"

Sonic stroked his chin. "On second thought, you're right. I could see that dude wantin' a cat or somethin' to help calm him down."

"He's really become calmer and less angsty ever since he's been volunteering, and that makes me feel happier, too." Rouge took another bite.

"And I'm happier knowin' that you're happier, too!"

"Awww!"

After finishing their chicken wings and taking care of the used bones, Rouge put a hand on Sonic's shoulder:

"Big Blue, that was some of your finest cooking yet! I'm so glad I got to share in National Chicken Wing Day with you!"

Sonic gave a thumbs-up. "Ain't no thang! I'm always glad to share my cookin' with the hottest mama ever!"

Rouge giggled. "Oh, Sonic!"

Rouge wrapped her arms around Sonic and kissed him, and he returned the gesture, greatly looking forward to hanging out with her more.
