Starswirl The Bearded And The Mystery Colt
This story from many, many, many, many, many. Okay a lot more than many years ago, there lived a powerful wizard unicorn in ancient Equestria.
"The destiny will be foretold," he said one day as he watched his fellow ponies living their happy lives.
In a time long before Princess Celestia and her sister, Princess Luna, this unicorn kept the balance of magic and friendship in check.
His name is Starswirl the Bearded, a master wizard who lived in the ancient times long before Twilight Sparkle and her friends even existed, also before Princess Luna and Princess Celestia even existed. And currently, Twilight Sparkle idolizes him.
However, during these ancient times, Starswirl still practice his own use of magic. On this day, Starswirl had finished planning some seeds in a small garden. "Don't worry, little ones," Starswirl said to the plants, "Your time will come soon."
It is clear that Starswirl never used his magic for self-gain or forcefully manipulating nature for his or other ponies' causes. "That is the law of magic and nature," Starswirl often says to no pony in particular.
Several days later, Starswirl was out on his own. Minding his own business, then later, practicing his own magic. "I know the ancient ways," Starswirl said to himself, "Dignity." He continued on his own path.
Later that day, Starswirl was walking back home and that's when the ancient wizard unicorn noticed something. "Hello," he said. He looked from a nearby bush and witness a young purplish colt with red mane and tail, being harassed by four other colts.
Starswirl could hear taunts and jeers from the bigger colts. "Bullies," Starswirl thought, "I know." "Hey!" one of the colts said to the smaller colt, "You are a freak!" And another punched the innocent colt. "You're pathetic!" another one taunted.
The purple colt tried to get up. "You are pathetic!" another colt taunted and slammed the smaller colt with a big boulder. "I know, now," Starswirl said, deciding to walk towards them. "Yeah!" another colt said, "You are pathetic! You can't walk at all!"
Then, Starswirl stomped right in front of the four nasty colts. "You know what's pathetic?" Starswirl asked all of the nasty colts in a serious tone. "What?" the four tough looking colts answered tauntingly.
"Bullies who pick on the innocent!" Starswirl shouted at the four nasty colts. "What?" one of them asked, "We were just-" "Teaching this freak of nature a lesson!" another nasty colt said in a taunting manner. "Here's a lesson," Starswirl said and he summoned lightning. The lightning flashed above himself, scaring the four bullies.
"Do you want to learn more?" Starswirl said, "I got more tricks for the lot of you." "No way!" one of the colts answered and the four bullies ran off like cowards. "Good," Starswirl said, "A wise pony mad used his magic like this."
One other thing, Starswirl never used his magic to hurt other ponies. He only showed off his magic trick just to scare away the bullies. Immediately after that, Starswirl helped the young colt up by removing the boulder. Luckily, he isn't hurt at all.
"Are you okay?" Starswirl asked the little colt. "Yes," the young colt answered, "That boulder was just too much for me to handle. Thank you." "You're a nice fellow," Starswirl said, "I'm sorry that those bullies had picked on you."
"Hey, I get that all the time," the little colt said, "By the way, impressive lightning trick. I take it that you're a unicorn wizard, right." "Yes, you are right," Starswirl said, "My name is Starswirl the Bearded. You can tell."
"My name is Tykax," the young earth pony said, introducing himself, "Starswirl. Your name is wonderful." "Thank you," Starswirl said, "I was on my way home anyway." "No problem," the colt, named Tykax said. "Tykax," Starswirl said, "A great name. You honor it."
"Thanks," Tykax said, "For getting rid of those bullies. It was my fault because-" "No, Tykax," Starswirl said in a comforting voice, "It was their fault. They've hurt you. You are innocent."
Tykax became calm after that. "Do you?" Tykax asked, but he didn't need to say anything else as immediately, the young earth colt, Tykax and Starswirl became friends. The two hoof-bumped and started walking together. So, Tykax did go with Starswirl back to the wizard's home.
"Let me take care of those injuries first," Starswirl told Tykax before walking inside. Upon entering the wizards' home, he was impressed. "Wow," he thought. "Wait here," Starswirl told Tykax. Starswirl got out his first aid kit and bandaged Tykax's injuries.
"They had taken it too far," Starswirl thought. "Thanks," Tykax said, "You didn't need to do this to me." "Don't be silly," Starswirl protested, "I'm helping you." Tykax said nothing as Starswirl helped him with his injuries.
After Tykax had been bandaged up, Tykax thanked Starswirl. "You should be all right now," Starswirl said to Tykax, "And safe." "Thank you for everything you've done for me," Tykax said.
"No problem," Starswirl replied, "It's getting late." "I know," Tykax said, "I should get going. But I will see you again tomorrow." "Deal," Starswirl replied. Immediately, Tykax started to head off for home.
After that, Starswirl continued on with his strong magic practicing, happy to have made a new friend and helped him. The next day, Tykax arrived at Starswirl's home and at once, they began to exchange stories and talk about other things. The two ponies were happy.
Also, Tykax did tell Starswirl that his injuries are healing. But there is a secret that Tykax kept from his new friend. "It was the reason why I was bullied in the first place," he'd said to himself. Many days had passed and it felt like a special occasion for the two ponies.
One day, the two were at Starswirl's home once again. Today, they are exchanging stories like that range from then current to old stories. On this day, Starswirl told Tykax one story from ancient Equestria.
Really, ancient Equestria. "This story involves a legendary pony warrior," Starswirl explained. This caught Tykax's attention. "The pony's name is Susanoo," explained Starswirl. "I understand," Tykax replied. Starswirl told Tykax the story about the legendary warrior, Susanoo, including one tale.
"The legendary warrior, Susanoo challenged the eight-headed monster, Orochi," Starswirl said, "The monster that terrorized ancient Equestria; every pony lived in fear." Tykax suddenly became interested in this story about Susanoo vrs. Orochi.
"Every pony," Starswirl concluded, "Were at peace, after all eight heads of the Orochi had been silenced and slaughtered." Tykax was left amazed at Starswirl's story. "It is a real legend," Starswirl said. "Thank you for the wonderful story," Tykax said. As they continued exchanging more stories, Tykax became motivated.
"After Starswirl helped me," he thought to himself, "I wish I could do something for him as well as for other ponies."
For the two, things have gone all right. Even though by now, Tykax still hadn't told his new friend, Starswirl about something mysterious about him.
That was until one day, Tykax was out by himself. He had just finished talking to Starswirl when he began to think about things. "Starswirl is my only friend now," he'd thought, "Because of my curse, I don't have any friends. And that's why I was bullied." It was a lovely day in Equestria as Tykax was out by himself.
He was being very careful around that area as he'd heard rumors of ponies and animals disappearing in these woods. "I should be careful," Tykax thought to himself. Then he noticed several young ponies playing when they've entered dangerous territories.
As the young foals were playing, Tykax saw monstrous vines slinking up to them. "That's why," Tykax said. He saw the little ponies, at first playing, then immediately taking notice of the strange vines, thus following it.
"Oh no," Tykax said, "They going to get themselves killed!" Tykax raced after the little ponies.
The sight they horrified Tykax is the skeletal remains of the ponies and animals that the carnivorous flower had eaten. He knew what is going to happen next. The little foals were about to play with the vines when suddenly, it had constricted them.
The foals were suddenly terrified for their lives. The next minute, there was a loud growling sound as a hideous giant flower emerged out of the ground. "A monster flower," Tykax said. The flower then took on a form of a hideous thing and tried to eat the fillies it had caught with its vines.
"No way!" Tykax shouted, "Not as long as I'm here!" And he charged to the rescue. Tykax picked up a knife and quickly cut up the vines, thus releasing the capture foals.
"You guys get out of here!" Tykax shouted.
He didn't need to tell the foals twice as they immediately got out of the woods. The monster Venus Flytrap tried to grab Tykax, but he'd cut up it's strangling vines. "You're not eating any more ponies, you worthless garden reject!" Tykax shouted, trying to aim for the Venus Flytrap's roots, attempting to cut it up.
The Venus Flytrap quickly reacted by swatting Tykax, thus causing him to loose his knife and wrapped Tykax around in its monster vines. "No!" Tykax cried as he is strangled by the vines, one roped itself around his neck, squeezing him to death.
Meanwhile, Starswirl had just walked past when he saw the terrified foals. "Oh no," Starswirl said, "A monstrous predator in those woods. Are you all right?" The foals replied to say 'yes', then Starswirl raced off to the woods. The Venus Flytrap had strangled Tykax unconscious and prepared to eat him alive.
That's when Starswirl had arrived. "Oh no!" he cried as Tykax had just got eaten. The monstrous flower used it's strangling vines and shoved the young colt into it's gaping maw. Starswirl was about to use his magic when something strange had gone on with Tykax.
Before completely disappearing, Tykax' body suddenly glowed along with his cutie mark. The rouge Venus Flytrap had just engulfed Tykax, when suddenly, it had erupted into flames that burned it from the inside.
That's when Starswirl witness Tykax's secret. "What?" Starswirl said as the monstrous flower got consumed by an enormous fireball.
Tykax woke up and emerged out of the burned flower, unharmed. He had jumped right in front of Starswirl the Bearded. "Oh, hey, Starswirl," Tykax said, surprised to see his friend. "Was that?" Starswirl asked. "That was my power," Tykax explained to Starswirl, "I'm sorry for keeping it a secret from you. That's why I got bullied."
"I understand," Starswirl said. That's when the foals whom Tykax had rescued arrived. "That is why so many ponies had disappeared here," Starswirl said, "A standing predator, that flesh-eating flower. A monster, and you, Tykax, ended it's existence."
The young foals thanked Tykax for saving their lives. "I couldn't let you suffer like me," Tykax said, "I set things on fire. My magical powers, even though I'm an earth pony, caused me nothing but trouble. That's why I got picked on."
"Well," Starswirl said, "Looks like today it helped others." The foals were happy to have met Tykax. "Come on," Starswirl said, "Let's get out of here."
After the monstrous Venus Flytrap had been completely burned down and killed, Starswirl used his magic to summon rainclouds to extinguish the fire. "We can't start a wildfire," Starswirl said. "You're right," Tykax said, "I'll take these kids home. We'll see each other again soon, Starswirl."
"Yes," Starswirl said, "Tykax, remember, you have a wonderful gift." "Thank you," Tykax said in response.
Afterwards, Tykax escorted the young foals, whom decided that they'd had enough adventures for one day. Tykax remained happy when he had helped the foals back to their respective homes. "Better home," Tykax said, "Than being eaten. Anyway, it will never happen to any pony ever again."
For every pony and animal, it was lucky that Venus Flytrap flower never reproduced itself and that's how it stands.
"That," Starswirl said about Tykax, "Today, you've shown true courage, Tykax. I wish you good luck, always." And Starswirl and Tykax would remain friends.
However, many moons later, Tykax told Starswirl that he must go on his own path. "Sorry," Tykax said, "But now, I must go on my own way. Thank you for being my friend Starswirl." "I understand," Starswirl said, "Thank you for being my friend."
"Same here," Tykax replied happily, "And Starswirl, thank you for telling me that story about the warrior, Susanoo. It had motivated me to help other ponies. I wish I could have helped you, too." "It's okay," Starswirl said, "You have helped me. A lot!" Tykax just smiled.
On the day Tykax left, he's said goodbye to Starswirl and headed out for his own path. "We'd hope we'd meet again one day," Starswirl said.
But unfortunately, Starswirl never saw Tykax again. And also, many moons later, Starswirl the Bearded would disappear, too.
Also, Starswirl didn't know that by that time, Tykax had gotten himself stuck in limbo as a result of trying to stop a rouge unicorn mare from taking over everything, as well as trying to force Tykax to be her boyfriend just so that she'd always gets what she wants.
As for Starswirl, his legend lives on and over a thousand years later, more than that, a certain unicorn pony became interested in his magic and stories.
