It had been two weeks since Gosalyn started staying with Darkwing Duck at the tower and things had been going well enough.
They had established routine that involved them training and patrolling. Some time was even set aside for making Gosalyn some trick arrows.
"What do you think of this one?", she asked, firing an arrow that released bees on impact.
"Cool", Darkwing said cooly, wondering how in the world she managed to capture that many bees and put them in an arrow, "Do you know how to collect them again?".
As if on cue, the bees started to chase him around, Gosalyn desperately trying to stop them.
"Sorry", she said as she helped him with the stings, "Good thing you're not allergic to bees".
"It was a very effective arrow, you might want to train the bees though", he said.
A beep on his phone made him jump.
"What?", Gosalyn asked, "We're not done here".
"U huh, I'll be right back", he said, walking away.
Gosalyn was left confused, something she didn't enjoy. Following him as quietly as she could, she tried to hear the conversation.
"Perfect. We'll meet you in an hour", she heard Darkwing say.
We? What was he planning to do?
Pretending she hadn't been overhearing she acted naturally when Darkwing came back into the room.
"Busy?", he asked in a knowing tone.
"Someone has to get the bees back".
He nodded and watched as she lured them with some flowers, "So what's next on the agenda?".
Smooth Gosalyn, smooth.
"Well, you could show me some more of your trick arrows, but we have to leave in half an hour", he said.
"Half an hour? Did someone ask for protection? Are we going on early patrol?", she asked.
Darkwings' back straightened and he became fidgety.
"No, this isn't a Darkwing Duck thing, we're meeting with someone in an hour".
The ride felt like an eternity to Gosalyn.
Drake was in his civilian clothes and through the magic of public transportation, they arrived at a tall building.
Once inside, it was obvious it was an apartment complex, "Did someone ask for help here?".
Drake shook his head.
"Are we going undercover?", she whispered with excitement.
He shook his head again, "I already told you it's not a you-know-who thing".
"Mr Mallard", a woman said as they approached a door.
"Ms Raven, nice to see you're well", Drake said.
Gosalyn watched the exchange quietly, "So, once again, this is the place. If you sign the lease now you can move in by next week", Ms Raven said.
"Could you excuse us for a minute?", Drake asked.
Ms Raven nodded, "I'll be right outside".
In a second the two of them were alone in silence.
"What do you think?", Drake asked Gosalyn.
"I don't get it. What are we doing?", Gosalyn asked.
Drake clasped his hands in front of him, "Well, I figured that if we're going to be living together, we're going to need more space and a more, normal setting for us to live in".
"But we already live in the tower!", Gosalyn exclaimed, "Why would you waste money on an apartment?".
"First of all young lady, it wouldn't be a waste. Secondly, as much as I enjoy your presence, I do think we could use our own rooms with actual walls between us as opposed to a paper screen", he said.
"Wouldn't it take too long to go from here to the tower?", she argued, "I don't get why would you want to live in an apartment with society".
"Well, I just thought it was a good idea, it's only a temporary arrangement".
Gosalyn could tell he was planning something. This was a scheme, wasn't it?
"Plus, now we have an address if anyone asks. It's all part of DW's cover. Why would a superhero live in an apartment when he already has a base?", Drake argued.
She wasn't entirely convinced, "Have you paid for it?".
"I haven't, I wanted to ask you what you thought about it", she pouted, "At least take a look around before you make up your mind", he sighed.
"Alright", she said crossing her arms.
Gosalyn started to walk around, a kitchen, living room, bathroom, a closet and two bedrooms.
She didn't like the idea moving out of the tower, but it was a nice place. And the privacy would be nice. She would have her own room which was exciting…and it was homely.
And Drake was being nice enough to rent a place to make her feel 'normal', though for that she should be in a lab with papers thrown all over the place.
"If you want to and can afford it, I think renting this place would be a good idea", she said.
Drake smiled, "Perfect! I'll go tell Ms Raven right now".
'This isn't a big deal. I'll just have a few things in my room and we can spend most of our time in the tower and rest here. After all, this is just a temporary arrangement', she thought.
