Epilogue

TWO MONTHS LATER

(HERE WE GO AGAIN, FOLKS)

Daphne opened the door as Niles entered.

"Hello, Dr Crane." Daphne greeted him, pleased as usual to see him.

"Hello, Daphne." Niles wondered, not for the first time, whether his love for her could be heard in his voice.

He glanced at the couch, which had just been freshly re-upholstered following a mishap the previous week where Niles had accidentally set it on fire while preparing dinner for a date on Valentine's day. He grimaced slightly at the memory, knowing the dent it had inflicted on his steadily dwindling bank account to pay Frasier for the damage. Niles gave the couch a wide berth as he went to pour himself a drink, while Daphne sat down, acting as if she didn't remember arriving home with Martin and finding Niles passed out in the middle of the absolute disaster that was the living room that evening less than a week ago.

She hadn't mentioned anything about that evening since, beyond asking if he was okay. Niles was grateful for that, and it had helped ease his complete embarrassment and shame he felt about it all.

"Dr Crane?"

"Yes, Daphne?" She had his full attention. If only she knew exactly how much of his attention she truly had.

"I thought I'd give you a heads up, but the neighborhood theatre group were so thrilled with the Christmas show we did, they want us to do the Easter pageant." She looked at him, hopeful. "Would you be interested in helping out again?"

Niles looked at Daphne. He knew what his answer would be. The things he would agree to do just to spend a few fleeting moments with her. A few stolen glances and touches. The hope and anticipation of something more. It was the same answer every time she asked him for something, given without any hesitation.

The things I will do to spend some time with her.

"Yes, I'd be happy to help." He smiled at Daphne. She smiled back, a grin that was warm and beautiful. Like her.

The things I will do for love.

A/N: The AO3 version comes complete with Frasier themed title cards (FFN doesn't allow image imbedding in fics). I wanted to make this feel like it could be part of an episode of Frasier, and hopefully I succeeded, and you enjoy this.

As per the summary, I'm slowly cross-posting all my non-explicit fics from AO3 to FFN. Feel free to check out my AO3 for anything not posted here, or to give me some extra love there (link is in my profile).
