Chapter 7
This is a brief scene I initially wrote for the story, but later removed because I realized it slowed down the plot and didn't really contribute much to the overall story. So here it is as a deleted scene for you all to read.
It takes place in Chapter 3, right after Marco and Star get separated from Angie and Eclipsa at the mall.
"Star!" Marco called, but his cry was lost over the noise of the crowd and he couldn't spot her admist the mob. "Guten Tag, Marco!"
Marco turned to see Gustav, the German foreign exchange student his family had taken in a long time ago. The boy was dressed in a green robe with a crown of holly on his head and a red beard and wig.
"Gustav?" Marco said, "What are you doing here?"
"Why promoting, of course," a brown haired woman in a white gown said as she approached them, "We're performing at the Community theatre this evening. By the way," she pulled off her hair to reveal that she was a dark-haired man, "Hey Marco."
"Hey, you're Eric, that guy Star turned into a frog," Marco said. "Glad to see you made it."
He shuddered. "Those were the worst two weeks of my life. Fortunately, I was saved by that artistic beauty." He pointed behind the boy. Marco turned to see a black cloaked figure, who drew back their hood revealing a white faced girl in a beret. "She has a gift with frogs."
"Hey Mime Girl," Marco mimed giving her a high-five, "Man, lot of old faces here today." The mime nodded, then gasped and gushed at the sight of the baby in his arms.
"Yep, this is my sister," Marco said. "So, the three of you are some kind of acting troupe now?" "Yeah, yeah," Gustav said. "And ve are doing the Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens tonight." "Marco!" The boy turned to see his mom rushing over to him. "There you are! Come on, I lost Eclipsa!" Marco waved goodbye to the trio. "Good luck with the play!"
And then we cut to Star meeting Pony Head.
I'm a sucker for world-building and loved the idea of these three forming some kind of acting troupe post Cleaving (and the implication that Mime Girl and Eric may have something going on), but hey, when you're a writer, you eventually have to make cuts and this was one. I still consider it canon to my story though.
