Chapter two

As I parked my car and picked out of the back seat I felt bad for how much pain she was in. I know we all went through it but it doesn't make it any easier to watch

I walk into our living room. Inset her down on the couch and I sighed

Esme walked into the room. "Are you okay?" she asked

"Yeah I'm fine. She woke up and agreed to it which makes it a bit better. I've never did it to someone I knew so well"

"It'll be okay. When she wakes up in a few days you'll feel better. She's always been family. She doesn't need to ask questions like we did. She knows the answers."

"She got her nursing degree. She's qualitfied for a career she may never be able to handle now." I said a bit sad

"It may take time but if you didn't she wouldn't be able to do it ever. Who cares if she does it tomorrow or in fifty years. All we have is time"

There was a long pause between us

"Should we tell Edward?" Esme asked confused

" we haven't seen him almost as long as we haven't seen her" I said

"It really wouldn't do her any good if he came her and caused her pain all over again"

"That's a good point" Esme said and smiled

Alice rushed into the room. "How is she" she shouted

"Alice, she's in a lot of pain and in unaware of her surroundings, she's probably in a lot of mental pain"

"In a few days she'll be excited to see you. For now there's nothing you can do. I know it's hard watching her suffer"

There was a pause

"Do you think she would have ended up like this if we didn't leave?" her voice was sad, almost like she felt guilt

"Alice, I guarantee she would have still ended up a vampire if we stayed. No need to feel guilt. It's not your fault. Think of it like this, she got to age a few more years, she got a degree. I doubt she would have waited this long if we stayed. Now she's 4 years older then Edward. She doesn't have to keep enrolling in high school because of that"

Alice suddenly smiled " you are right"

four days later*

I was sitting across from her knowing it be any moment now. Her skin has already lost all its pigment. Her scars on her arm has disappeared. All the bruising, broken bones had healed. There was a lot. Her heart was weakly beating still.

I sat and stared at her for an half hour. Then it stopped. Her eyes opened and she sat up

"How do you feel" I said putting a hand on her back.

"It's weird not getting that shiver when you touch me" she said with a shy smile

Bella's pov

Esme walked towards me with a glass of red liquid. I didn't have to think about what it was. She put it down on the coffee table beside me

"Do you just keep it in the fridge now" I said trying to not think to hard about the situation

"This area is pretty rural. We are able to buy it from the slaughterhouse without question" Carlisle said. He cracked a bit of a smile. I don't know if he knows I'm trying to avoid the topic or he thought my comment was funny.

Suddenly I was being squeezed. Really tight.

"Alice?"

"Yep, it's me. I've missed you Bella. I'm really sorry this happened to you. But I'm glad you are back into our lives again"

I smiled after she said it. I know more than likely Edward made them all leave me. I don't blame Alice nor do I blame the rest. I really hope Edward isn't here though.

"You will need to drink that" Carlisle said, pointing at the glass. I did what he said

"So a nurse?" Carlisle asked

"Yeah. I graduated a year early. Just got my degree last month. I was actually on my way to apply at that hospital" I sadly chuckled before continuing

"I don't even know why I was drawn to that choice. I think it may of been the ability to help people"

"Bella, don't regret you choice. You definitely won't be able to be a nurse next week. You will eventually be able to handle blood enough. It could be a year. It could be a few who knows. Only time will tell. I work in a hospital no problem" Carlisle said

It was a bit encouraging. I gave him a puzzled look for a second "how do you keep your medical degree up to date with the.." I paused thinking of the best way to put it

"Not aging thing" I said, debating if those were the best words.

"I will help you with that." he replied with a smile

"How is Charlie" Esme asked changing the topic

"He died two years ago. Heart attack"

"Oh I'm so sorry" she replied

I finally just blurted out "he's not here is he?"

Carlisle replied after a odd expression. As if he was debating what to tell me. "No its just us and Jasper. We haven't even told him what happened. We did tell Rose and Emmett though"

I was relieved what he said that
