Chapter 3

Esme Pov

There was so much pain in her eyes when she said that and so much relief when Carlisle answered. He didn't tell us much about the breakup. We honestly assumed he would only last a few months before running back to her. We were wrong. When we asked about it he ran off. We've never seen him in person again. He sends the occasional text. That's pretty much it

Rose wasn't too happy when I informed her about Bella's transformation until she heard about the events that lead to it. Then she was glad she was okay. Rose may seem mean at first. She honestly doesn't wish this fate on anyone but she doesn't want to see Bella dead either. Emmett and her are on their way here to see how she is.

Emmett is just glad he won't have to save her from walking and chewing gum at the same time as he puts it.

"Hey Bella, Emmett and Rose are both on their way here to see you" I said with a smile.

"Not that I'm complaining, but Rose never particularly was a fan of me" she looked a bit sad and scared when she said that.

"She didn't want this life on you. She doesn't want it on anyone. She heard what happened and feels really bad for you but is glad you are okay"

Alice Pov

"Okay enough of this depressing stuff. Let's go do something fun" I said when dragging Bella along with me

"Hey, remember what just happened. Don't do something with her that might lead in tragedy" I heard Esme say as I was dragging her away

"Sit"

I brought her to my room where Jasper was already at.

Bella pov

I don't really know what Alice has planned. I don't really care. Any distraction is good right now.

I saw Jasper. I haven't seen him since he almost killed me. I don't hold it against him. I'm probably about to learn how hard control really is.

"Hey Jasper" I said a bit awkwardly

"Hello Bella, how do you feel"

"It depends how honest of an answer you want"

Jasper looked concerned after I said that

"I feel like this is a dream. Not because it's something I wanted but because I finally was moving on with my life. Finally was going to start my life" I paused thinking about what to say

"I still can't even remember being in a car crash. I just know it happened. I remember being so excited to apply for a job. Then, I remember waking up next to Carlisle in the hospital feeling as if a piano fell on me. It's not that I didn't miss you guys, I did. It just happened so fast and so suddenly. It's hard believing it's real"

Jasper looked concerned "Well at least I won't want to eat you now" he said jokingly. All I could do was smile.

"So any new guy we should know about" Alice asked flirtily

"I don't know. You see the future, you tell me"

"Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you"

"I'm not upset. Just don't have time for a relationship not that I want one even if I did"

"Bella, Edward just told us that you guys broke up. Nothing more. We assumed it was to avoid you not living a human live and having a kid or two but honestly I saw him running back to you eventually in all but one senatio. I didn't expect that one to be the one to play out or I would've stopped him."

"Don't blame yourself. It's not your fault. Trust me so much time has passed I have no interest in him. He told me I was the problem. It was my fault. I really am over him I just don't want to ever see him again"

Alice looked shocked. I really assumed she probably saw it already. I mean I didn't expect him to tell everyone he blamed me for it but I assumed Alice at least knew.

"Sorry I assumed you knew" I said as they both came over and hugged me.

Carlisle pov

I wasn't trying to eavesdrop but when I heard her say that my heart broke for her. She was a sweet girl who I'm guessing worked extremely hard after we left to accomplish what she has in so little time.

I look at Esme and I can tell she was thinking the same thing. We decided to go up join them

"Hey, do you mind if we join you guys?" we said before sitting down.

"Bella where do you live? It's probably best if you live with us for the time being. We can help you pack up and move here if you like. There is a few spare rooms"

"Three blocks from the hospital" when she said that I was shocked. Three blocks? She couldn't drive three blocks without tragedy

"I don't really have much. A few photo albums, a stack of college textbooks, a few childhood keepsakes with a box of clothing and a mattress on the floor"

She probably didn't need the help to pack but more of the help for emotional support.

"If you give me the address I can pick all if it up for you on the way home "

She took out her phone and texted me the address

"You still have my number in that thing?"

"Yeah, is that weird" she looked self conscious for a second

"No, just surprised"

"I don't know if my apartment key still exists"

"It's fine. I bet I can find my way in"

She smiled a bit after I said that. Then it looked like she was thinking really hard about something.

"What does the hospital think happened to me? I mean I clearly was to injured to stand and somehow ran away from a hospital"

I knew she'd eventually asked that.

"I did some paperwork. They think you went to the morgue"

She looked a bit in disbelief when I said that. She's probably having a hard time believing she's dead. Then she smiled "Oh okay, I just wanted it make sure you wouldn't get in trouble because of me "

It's really sweet that she cares.
