I open the door . I am on the bus . I look around and there is only one seat available . I sit down and find out that I am next to a Candor man. He is wearing black and white suit because they see truth as black and white .
He is reading newspaper and the title is "the serial murder is apprehended ." It is a long time that we have a murder in the city . I want to look away but he grabs my arm.
"Do you know this man?" He asks me
I do feel that I know this man but I don't know where and when . I shake my head.
"No I don't know him." I can't be Candor because I lie too easily.
"Really! You don't know him?" The Candor man looks at me suspiciously.
I know that he can detect lie but I still don't say a word
"No I don't know him." I say firmly.
I look into his eyes . That will make him believes that I really don't know . The bus stops and the man stands up. He gets out of the seat and gets off the bus.
"If you tell me who is it, then you can save me ." The man sighs with disappointment
"However I don't know who he is ." I say
Then I wake up from the simulation, back into original room.
"God that's scary." I shiver
"Well please excuse me for a minute Delia." Tori stands up and leaves the room
Did I do a bad job? However how can I do poorly if I can't even prepare for it? That's isn't fair for me . I curl myself into a ball and I cry.
Then the door opens , Tori comes in. She sits down again.
"I am sorry to worry you Delia ." Tori says in a lower voice." Your result is inconclusive."
"How is that possible ?" I sit up immediately.
"In normal case, the system will give a result by ruling out the rest. However in your case only two have been ruled out." Tori looks behind me ." This kind of people we called them divergent."
What is divergent? I don't even know it. It is a new word
"What is that?" I am scared
"At the first one , you didn't pick the knife or the cheese which doesn't tell me that you are dauntless or abnegation. However the knowledge you have toward the dog showed me that you are erudite and also save the girl determine that you are dauntless and abnegation and amity. So I have to put you on the bus .even the man told you that if you tell him the truth it will save him but you still refused to say that. However don't worry only Candor tells truth in that one ." Tori says breathless
"What does that tell you?" I still don't understand
Tori drags me away from the chair and leads me to the back door.
"You have show me the equal result for abnegation , erudite, dauntless , Candor and amity. However divergent is so dangerous . At no time , you shouldn't tell anyone your result." Tori pushes me out of the door ." Even your family please . You have to go home now ."
She closes the door . Why a test result is dangerous? I don't understand . I see Abby also comes out from the back door
"Delia?" Abby frowns." Why are you here?"
"I feel really sick with the liquid . I ask that can I go home earlier or not." I shrug." Let's go home ."
I can't be Candor because I lie to easily. We leave the testing room and beatrice is waiting for us with Maria .
"Hey is everything fine?" Beatrice hugs me
"Yeah , I am just a little bit sick . Let's us go home now ." I smile at them
"Sure ." Beatrice nods at me
Abby and I walk out of the school. Beatrice and Maria follow .
"Do you want to walk or take the bus ." Abby asks
"Let's walk. I don't want my parent to know that I get home earlier . Caleb will tell them." I roll my eyes
"Yeah sure but why you don't want your parent to know it." Abby starts to walk with me
I don't know how to tell her so I remain silent. We walk past through the factionless compound . Suddenly a Factionless man grabs my wrist
"Hey little girl , do you have something that I can eat?" The man is smiling with his yellow teeth
"Yeah sure here you go."I give him a bag of apple slices
That is the reason why our father asks us to keep foods in our bag all the time .
"You have a beautiful eyes but rest of you are so plain. It is too young for you to walk here with your friends." The factionless man smirks
"I am not young. I am 16!" I scream
"So tomorrow will be your important day ? Choose wisely little girl ." He takes the apple slices and let go of me .
We run away toward my house . When we get back home, parent are already there .
"How is the test?" Mom is making dinner." We have a party to go tonight at Susan's house . Abby are you coming to stay over night?"
"Yes I am . Thank you for inviting me ." Abby nods at my mom
"You are Delia's best friends . Of course I treat you also as my daughter." Mom hugs her
Abby and her mom has no good relation so she treats my mom as her mom too.
"Thank you ." Abby says
"Go take a shower with Delia and we will go. Your father already is at their house ." Mom says
I and Abby go back to my room . Abby already brings new set of cloth with her already .
"You are so smart." I giggle
"Yeah I am erudite ." Abby laughs too.
"I will give you some medicine to put on your wound . I am so angry with that." I clinch my teeth
I get into my bathroom and open the hot water .
"Do you want to take shower together with me ?" I ask
"Yeah sure , that save time ." Abby takes off her shirt and gets in together with me
After taking a shower , we get to Susan's house
"Hey dad ." I wave at dad
"Hello Delia and Abby. " dad waves at us too
"Where is Caleb?" I look around
Caleb and Susan are flirting with each other in an abnegation way
"They are upstair playing. Don't distract them."dad points upstair
Robert comes toward us . He looks at Abby
"Erudite?" Robert frowns
"She is my best friend Robert. We invite her to say over night ." I explain
"Okay, come have something to eat." Robert leads us in kitchen
His mother makes cupcake . Abby eats it and nods at me
"Good." Abby looks happy." However dauntless have better chocolate cake ."
"Yeah I heard that." I agree with her
We sit down and start chatting. Robert doesn't hate erudite but also doesn't like them as much as I like Abby.
"So Abby why are you here!" Robert chew on the cake
"We invite her over ." I repeat
"I am sorry that forget." Robert apologizes.
It is soon the second day that we are going to the choosing ceremony. We arrive at the 20th floor of the hub . The hub is the tallest building in the city so far. Erudite is jealous of it because they think that they should have the building to be theirs
"Hello Delia."Jason coulter comes toward me ."are you ready."
"Yes I am ." I nod at him
"You know that I have feeling for you . Even more than max ." Jason leans in to me
Abby pushes him away from me. I am shocked
"Stop touching her . You and Eric are same person." Abby screams
"Calm down Abby. I am sorry Jason." I drag Abby away .
We get to the last row . My parent are already there . Beatrice and Maria sit with them beside Caleb.
"You can't do it." I shake my head
"Delia , I am protecting you." Abby grabs my arm." He isn't a good person."
"I of course know that but here is public ." I say." However thank you."
The ceremony starts and Jason walks on the stage . He is hand some in blue suit.
"I believe the faction system is a living being . Every of you are the cells which built it. I believe the bright future belong to those people who know where truly belong." Jason claps his hand.
We all clap for him . He then takes out the booklet
"Delia prior ." He calls my name
I walk on the stage and I take the knife from him. Without saying a word , I cut my palm opens . I hold my hand above dauntless bowl and the blood drops in
"Dauntless."
Jason announces it and I see the surprised and anger in my father's eyes. He is disappointed now .
"Join your new family please ." Jason smiles at me .
I get off the stage and walk toward dauntless .one of boy grabs my shoulder
"Welcome to dauntless" he smiles at me
"Thank you." I am surprised that they like me
He let me sits down and goes back to the last row .
"Welcome , my name is Marlene ." A blond hair girl takes out her hand." This is Shauna ."
"Hey I am Delia ." I shake their hand .
"We are friends from now on." Shauna sticks her tongue out.
I wander why they want to be friend with me
"Aren't you afraid that they will say that you are making friends with a stiff?"
"You are not stiff now . You are dauntless ." Zeke pats my back." Just ignored them ."
"Thank you." I feel warm
Jason stops talking for a second and looks at us
"Be quiet please ." Jason shakes his head
"Sure ." Uriah rolls his eyes
"Abby ." Jason calls out Abby's name .
Abby gets on the stage . I am watching her .
"Dauntless."
