Chapter Nine
Rain and I hurried toward Jade's voice.
"HEELLLLP!"
It sounded closer.
We made it to a clearing in the woods. Ducking behind a fallen tree. I scanned the area and spotted Jade. She was strapped to a tree about a hundred yards away. No sign of her four-armed kidnapper anywhere.
I started toward her.
"Wait! What if it's a trap?" Rain cautioned, grabbing my arm.
I reached down to my boots, removing the fans from their holsters. With a flick of my wrist, they sprung open in all their metallic, razor-sharp glory.
"I came prepared."
Rain looked impressed.
I lept over the fallen tree and looked around, approaching cautiously.
Jade saw me.
"Kitana!" she exclaimed, in an excited whisper.
Using my bladed fans, I sliced through the ropes that bound Jade's wrists. She brushed the rope off her wrists and gave me a hug.
"Let's get back home," I said to Jade, grabbing her hand.
But she didn't budge.
"Kitana, they're coming for your father! That creature just told me that Shao Kahn is headed for the palace. He's going to —"
Her words were cut short.
A blow from behind sent her forward into my arms. I looked up to see Rain standing over us. Goro next to him.
