You're Going Down Seaweed Brain
This has a few plot holes (Percy would tell Annabeth if he was transferring schools, and Annabeth would never deliberately lose anything and the fact that at this age boys and girls wouldn't have PE together, also a new student wouldn't suddenly show up halfway through the day) but I really wanted to write this so please ignore that also I'm British so I hope I get the terminology correct.
It was gym class in Annabeth's school. They had been working on an obstacle course for the entire semester, it was a really challenging obstacle course with ropes to climb, jumping great distances, and a huge war to scale and beyond all of that because of how late it was in the year they had to do 5 laps without stopping. This was a huge challenge for most of the class but for Annabeth it was as easy as breathing, at CHB they had significantly more difficult things (and you landed in lava if you failed) that she had been doing since she was seven. If she wanted to be should would be the top of the class, easily beating all the 'sporty' boys. The thing was Annabeth didn't care about this class, she knew she was better than everyone else no need to draw attention to her extreme athleticism.
No Annabeth spent most of the class letting her mind wander. Everyone else just thought she was one of the normal people who aren't very good at sport, and she didn't care. Annabeth was perfectly happy for that to never change. Then came a perfectly normal Tuesday the coach was getting taking the register when he suddenly announced something,
"So today we have a new student joining us his name is Percy Jackson. Jackson you can have the first go on the obstacle course, who would you like to complete against?"
After the Coach had introduced Percy Annabeth grinned widely (she had sent noticed Percy yet) and when he said that Percy could choose who he competed against she made eye contact with him she raised an eyebrow, he grinned back at her.
"Well Coach, I would like to race against Annabeth Chase,".
"Um if you want to Jackson, but I have to warn you racing against the slowest in the class isn't exactly going to make you look good."
Percy looked at Annabeth, eyebrows raised when the coach said that she was the slowest in the class, she gave him a small shrug back.
"No Coach, I'd still like to race Annabeth."
"Okay Jackson, so it's five laps. Our fastest time in the entire year group is 15 minutes"
The Coach lead Percy and Annabeth to the start line and took out his stopwatch.
"You're going down Seaweed Brain," Annabeth muttered under her breath to Percy.
"In your dreams Wise Girl,"
"Ready, Set, Go," the Coach said and Percy and Annabeth set off.
For the first few obstacles Percy was ahead and a few of the boys were talking about how useless Annabeth was. But after the fourth obstacle Annabeth was in the lead, they were both going very fast and Percy was always only an obstacle behind.
The Coach was staring at Annabeth, open mouthed. Not only was slowest person in the class suddenly contesting the obstacle course faster then anyone ever had (and he has been doing the exact same obstacle for 15 years) but she was also showing of doing things like instead of just jumping to obstacles she was doing a backflip between the obstacles. The rest of the class where staring at Annabeth open mouthed.
Meanwhile on the obstacles course Annabeth semi-quietly taunting Percy. It didn't take Annabeth long to finish, 6.30 minutes and Percy wasn't far behind (6.40 minutes).
"I've won Seaweed Brain,"
"By ten seconds Annabeth,"
"Still a win Percy,"
I hope this was good and that you enjoyed it. Have a nice day.
