Dex's POV
Dex fidgeted with his paper, a small script written on it.
Today was the day that he would confess his feelings for Linh Song.
Obviously, he was nervous, especially with how Tam would take it. Dex had started to have feelings for Linh after the incident in Atlantis. After she held out all the water from crashing in the city and drowning everyone, Dex admired her.
Then when Tam was taken by Lady Gisela, and Linh felt more depressed than ever, something in Dex's heart sparked.
He eventually came to the conclusion that he was in love with her.
There was only about a two-year age difference between them, Ling being almost 16 and Dex being 14 almost 15.
But Dex felt that if he didn't confess his feelings soon, he's combust.
So why not now?
Tam and Tiergan were out of the house, so that would leave them alone to talk about it.
Sure, Dex always thought that Wylie had feelings for her, but after a recent conversation with the Flasher, Dex's suspicions were proved wrong. Wylie only thought of her as his best friend, nothing more. He considered her as his little sister.
Dex remembered feeling complete relief after that.
At first, the Technopath thought he had feelings for Marella Redek, but then he realized that it was only a small crush he had on her when he was 6.
Then the whole thing wit Sophie went on, but Dex had let that go. He only saw her as his best friend.
But Dex's worst fear was Fitz.
After noticing some looks Fitz threw at Linh, Dex was sure that the Vacker had feelings for her.
"Don't think about him. Just go tell her how you feel!" Keefe had reassured him.
Dex stood up from his bed, and headed for the door to his room.
"Oooh! Dexy is going to see his girlfriend!" His siblings chanted once Dex left his room.
Dex rolled his eyes, headed for their Leapmaster, and headed out to see Linh.
Linh's POV
Linh was reading a book on Hydrokinesis when someone knocked on the front door
"Oh, hey Dex! What's up?" Linh smiled when she saw Dex.
He oddly looked nervous.
"Hey Linh, can-uh, can we talk? I need to tell you something." Dex said, somehow not making eye contact.
Linh nodded, and led him inside.
"So, what's up?" Linh asked, once Dex had sat down.
Dex looked at her. "Linh, you're a great friend, so I need to get this out before it destroys our friendship."
Linh was concerned. "What is it?"
"ImighthavefeelingsforyouokayIdohavefeelingsforyou." He blurted.
Linh's eyes widened. "You do?" She asked timidly.
Dex nodded, looking at his feet.
Linh exhaled a breath of relief. "Me too."
"What?" Dex looked confused.
"I...have feelings for you too."
Dex felt his jaw drop.
Linh laughed at that. She crossed the room and sat beside him.
"Wow...this is..."
"Surprising?" Linh finished.
"Yeah." Dex ran his hands through his strawberry hair.
Linh smiled.
"I mean, are you sure you want to do this? It could get messy, with the Neverseen and all." Dex asked.
Linh looked at him. "There's only one way to find out."
And with that, she pressed her lips to his.
And in that moment they both knew.
That they were meant to be.
