Hyacinth peered over the front garden and stopped dead in her tracks. Elizabeth's door had opened and the figure that had stooped to collect milk was certainly not her neighbour. It was a man. A man who was not her husband. A semi naked man. Hyacinth gasped and manhandled a peeping Rose back in the house.

'Who's that?' She asked interestedly.

'Not Elizabeth's husband!'

'Ooooh. She's a shady one' Rose noted.

'My goodness, what is this street coming to? I do hope she's not been taken in by some ruffian with designs upon her silverware. The value of the property here would go down and I will not have it.'

Hyacinth clutched at the doorway, most concerned. Rose had no compunction. She tottered outside just in time to see him turn back into the house.

'Coooeee!' she fluttered.

The man turned around to see a pair of shapely legs coming for him. The woman wore the tightest skirt he'd ever seen and a fluffy blonde mop. And a very welcoming smile. He suddenly felt rather vulnerable in his towel. He hadn't reckoned on such a hullabaloo while fetching the milk.

'Hello, you must be new here' she preened. He could only stare and stutter.

An outraged stomp reached their ears as well as the feared contralto.

'Rose! What are you doing disturbing the neighbours?'

The man backed away, clutching onto his slipping towel. Rose observed in appreciation. Hyacinth looked horrified and cast a disparaging look at the man. He wilted under her gaze.

'Careful there. You nearly lost your towel' purred Rose.

'Most inappropriate' the gorgon muttered to both of them as she bustled Rose away, who fluttered her fingers at him. The man looked horrified. Rose giggled. She was going to come and visit more often if Hyacinth's neighbour had come to stay.
