Infinity. Thats what she was. She had no origin or end. She was simply Infinite , a being with limitless power.
Her name was Ophis , the Infinite Dragon God, the strongest being in the whole universe , or so she wanted it to be because there were three beings whose powers surpassed even hers and while two of them were not alive for lack of better words, she knew they would return one day.
She glanced at the third and final being whose powers surpassed hers.
Great Red, The True Dragon, The Dragon of Dreams. Even just a fraction of his powers can destroy the Earth many times over, effortlessly but that was not in his nature. He was just like what humans call 'highschool delinquent', spending his time doing flips. FLIPS!! If she was capable of emotions, she would have been baffled but it was not the case.
But it did not by any chance mean that he was stupid, he was anything but that. He possessed limitless knowledge and was incredibly perceptive. His actions always had reasons behind them, well not the flips, that was him just trying to annoy her. She also knew there was a reason why he was here, in her home and how could she not know, it was after all her decision or more like a mistake that caused the birth of a being even more powerful than her; the Ten Tails and it did not end there, no the consequences were so far reaching that the survival of all the races depended on the actions of one boy.
She had noticed the moment he was born. At first glance he was nothing special, sure he had the potential to become as strong as Ultimate class devil despite being a human with no sacred gear but from her perspective that was not note worthy, she could not understand how a being not even having the potential to match her could save the whole universe or even doom it.
She did not need to wait even an hour for her answer to present itself. The child had become the vessel to the most powerful fragment of the Ten tails; the kyuubi, but that was not the end. The greed and desperation of humans that ruled the village the child was born agreed to make him a weapon so powerful that it would become the ultimate deterrent for the village, so they experimented on him to make him better in every regard.
4 YEARS LATER, KONOHA WAR ROOM.
"Are you out of your mind?" snarled Jiraiya at his sensei, the 3rd hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen. Jiraiya could not wrap the idea around his mind that his own sensei, who taught him about peace and coexistence was proposing the idea of eradication of other four major villages and effectively crippling the whole elemental nation.
"Troublesome, we coul- no will win this war if we use the biju charka as bombs but this will also have severe consequences for us. Not only will the daiyamos of the other remaining nations will see us as threat to all the elemental nation and join hands against us with the remaining heavenly alliance but it will also affect our economy and infrastructure too. Our sponsors and clients along with our own daiyamo would severe all ties with us to condemn our actions which would be a critical hit to our already depleting treasury. There would be famines too as the two major rivers that supports our farming which originates from the mountains of Kumo would be contaminated. Tetsu no Kuni would also stop supplying us weapons.If thats not all, many of our own shinobi -mostly genins and some chunins- would also leave the ranks due to these actions being completely opposite to the ideals of peace you taught them Lord hokage for recruiting purposes. Our civilians would would commit mass exodus too because they would not want to live in a village that will be going to war against literally the whole world with famines and our economy in dumps, effectively crippling our infrastructure. But as of right now I can't see us winning this war without drastic measures." said Shikadai, the Jonin commander of the village, no trace of the legendary laziness in his voice.
"It seems that we are caught between a rock and hard place and we don't have any allies who could stand upto the might of any major village." said Hiruzen in a completely calm voice while smoking, as if he had not been proposing the eradication of millions of lives just moments ago. Their only ally who could really help them was obliterated. Uzumaki clan was really a powerful clan, even as powerful as the Senju and Uchiha clan. Uzushio took on the might of 3 major hidden villages and fought for a total of 2 weeks before they fell but even then they managed to cut down the invading forces to half of what originally came and took out all the tailed beasts except the nine-tails out of the war. Truly, there was noone in the whole Elemental nation who could say they were better at fuinjutsu than the Uzumaki clan. Konoha could survive this far only because what Kushina Senju, konoha's at the time premier fuinjutsu master(she went back to Uzu after invasion to look for any survivors but only found a seal) had informed them as God's judgment seal was activated which absorbed all the eight tailed beast's chakra present on the battle field and transformed them into an orb. Upon Hiruzen's order Konoha had weaponised the orbs and this was his plan on how to end this war.
"From the looks of it, you have another plan." said Tsunade while narrowing her eyes on her sen- no her hokage. She rarely ever spoke to him after the kyuubi incident few years back. His nonchalant attitude and casual disregard towards her sister and her family's death (kushina, minato and naruto) had thrown a wedge into their relation. He only showed disappointment at the loss of the konoha's biggest deterrent, Minato Uchiha, who was high S-class, borderline SS-class shinobi and the konoha's jinchuriki and not any sadness at the lose of his Goddaughter and her family. She had known that his warm and fatherly behavior was just a ploy to get others to lower their guard around him but she had never known to what extent. That was what opened her eyes and enabled her to see his true colour and it also ensured that there would never be any other relation between them except being hokage and his shinobi.
Hiruzen said nothing, opting to just nod towards Orochimaru, who tensed and then glanced at her with his yellow snake-like eyes with barely concealed pity and that actually frightened her. For all the years she had known Orochimaru, he never showed any emotion but the way he tensed and looked at her told her that whatever was going to be discussed would affect her horribly.
"He is not ready".said Danzo in his usual emotionless voice and it threw Tsunade off the loop because she no longer had any relative alive much less a male as most of her clan was killed in first and second war and whoever was left died during kyuubi incident. This caused her to relax somewhat but she kept her guard up regardless.
"Orochimaru, would you please" it was posed as a question but no one had any delusion that it was anything but that.
The pale snake-like man brought out a thick scroll and rolled it on the table. The feeling if dread and horror slammed into her with the force of a bijuudama. Tears sprung in her eyes as she connected the dots by herself and came to a terrifying conclusion. She quickly brought her hands up to cover her mouth as bile rose up to her throat. In the back of her mind she absent-mindedly observed that Jiraiya had similar expression and Shikadai had a contemplative look while Hiruzen, Danzo and the ANBU commander had no reaction to this as if they had known this from the beginning. She wanted to shout at them, to demand answers but no voice came out of her mouth.
"The results of the project maelstrom completely surpassed the results we had expected. The subject's body is simply amazing. With him inherenting the Senju's strong and adaptive body, Uzumaki's longevity, healing factor and powerful chakra and not to forget him being the kyuubi jinchuriki made grafting the shodaime hokage's cells into him extremely easy. His body is adapting to the kyuubi's charka so fast that I speculate him having no problem or possible drawbacks while accessing that power which the other jinchuriki face and due to this, his other attributes have also gained massive boost such as superhuman strength comparable to that of Tsunade's if trained properly, complete control over chakra, he has already manifested his sharingan from Uchiha clan and chakra chains and the sensing ability of Uzumaki clan and he is more than likely to have the senju's ability to master any skill they put enough efforts into. This is not even the end, from what I have been able to gleam from the results of the scan of his brain, his brain activity is atleast 5 times faster than even mine and thanks to this, he was able to assimilate all the data on every shinobi art we transferred using yamanaka's forbidden technique that would normally leave the recipient brain dead. He for the lack of better word has evolved into a superior being." Orochimaru finished his report.
Tsunade absent-mindedly noticed Jiraiya's expression changing to that of disgusted-awe, like he seemed to be disgusted at how his godson was being turned into a bigger and better weapon of mass destruction than a normal jinchuriki could ever be but at the same time he seemed to be in awe of how much potential his godson seem to have. He seemed to have reluctantly accepted that the needs of thousands outweighed the needs of few.
Shikadai was already in his thinking pose, accepting what has happened and planning on where and how to use the jinchuriki that while giving him the experience he needed, would also maximize the chance of their village to survive.
"What of the safety precautions? If the weapon is as you describe it, then it is not a question of 'if but 'when' he would start operating on his own?" Danzo asked the question in a low emotonless but it could still be heard clearly.
Tsunade had recovered sometime during Orochimaru's report and had been trying to figure how she would go about rescuing her nephew. Naruto right now might even be more important to the village than the hokage, so no doubt that only the best and most loyal ANBU would be guarding him. She knew that she no longer had Jiraiya's support in her endeavor if his expression was any indication, so hearing Danzo's question and Orochimaru's answer made the already suicidal rescue mission with success rate in single digit into a suicidal rescue mission with zero success rate.
"Yes, there have been several safety precautions put in place for any unfavorable situation. I have personally put paralyzing seals on him to prevent any motor functions should the seemingly impossible happen and he loses control despite him having absolute control over his chakra instinctively, a curse seal on his heart that will put him in cardiac arrest in case the paralyzing seal fails to stop him upon activation and slave seal on his mind, a new seal, a derivation from the Hyuga's juinjutsu, inflicting horrific amount of pain, destroying his brain cells and also if intended capable of erasing his memories, so we can reprogram him, it also let's the person keyed into the seal as the retainer mentally command him to do anything. While using this, the bearer of the seal can disregard any previous order or mission in direct conflict with the command from the retainer." Orochimaru explained with a straight face but his eyes conveyed his true feeling. The undeniable glee and unrestrained insanity as clear as the sky on a bright sunny day.
"How long before we can send the the asset on the field?" Ryu, the commander of ANBU corps asked. An unknown to all the shinobi corps even the ANBU except the hokage and his higher echelons. He was the product of a failed experiment to clone the Shodaime and while the project failed to do what it was meant to, it still produced a weapon far better than most shinobi. He was hokage's attack dog, his mission record a proof of his abilities as it showed hundred percent success rate.
"Hmm, by my estimation he should be ready by the end of this year." Orochimaru answer Ryu's question.
"This still does not answer to what shall be done with the biju chakra of the other eight tailed beasts in our possession and by the looks of it the seals are breaking due to the tampering of the fools in the sealing corps. The estimated time is around a year before the seals break rather forcefully and in a similar manner to the bombs as Hiruzen intended but this time rather than this ending the other shinobi villaged it would obliterate our own." Jiraiya asked. He had already made up his mind that nothing could be done in regards to his godson's situation and seemed to be prioritizing his duties as a shinobi loyal to his hokage rather than to his family.
"Can the biju's chakra be sealed inside the jinchuriki too?" Shikadai sudden question silenced everyone. All eyes on Orochimaru as he pondered on the question. As the silence stretched, Tsunade's rage grew but she had it well, knowing that even one mistake could prove too costly. She was beyond disgusted at the state of her grandfather's beloved village, wondering what her grandfather thought about her role in all this. She loathed the situation she found herself in. ' I can't rush things and make mistake. First thing first, I need information and then I have to carefully formulate a plan, there's no place for my bullheadedness, there's no place for any blunders. It might take me some time but I promise this to you Naruto that I will rescue you from this horrible fate, even if it costs me my life.' she thought. Tsunade was broken from her musing as Orochimaru started speaking.
"Yes, the chakra of the other tailed beasts can be sealed inside of the boy. The boy bears the eight-trigram seal enforced by the Shinigami itself and his body is more than capable of adapting to all these powers. Now, some of you might think that this might not be a great idea and if the situation was any different then you might be right but as of now we can't afford to sponsor any other project, let alone 8 of them, we are already reaching deep within the treasury just to keep the village afloat while fighting a losing war soon after the kyuubi incident which had already affected our economy real bad and add upon this the time which would be wasted to get the other jinchuriki to adapt to the beast's powers before training them in shinobi arts and the tailed beast's power when their body matures enough to handle the corrosive chakra. The minimum number of years would still be more than a decade." Orochimaru explained his theory to others. Though he knew that putting all their assets together might not be the brightest idea but he did not care enough because as much as a shinobi he was, he was a scientist too, the reasons were just an excuse to get what he wanted.
After discussing it more than necessary, the idea of sealing all the tailed beasts chakra into project maelstrom was approved with instructions to immediately start the procedure. The discussion turned towards the present situation and would be discussed in great lengths all while Tsunade kept a firm grip on her emotions, it took her all her will power to not just up and attack them but she managed to hold herself, reminding the consequences that would fall on not only her shoulders but on her nephew's too.
THREE MONTHS LATER
Alarms blared all around him, panic evident on his subordinates' faces but he remained calm. He calmness did not come from the fact that he was one of the strongest shinobi or because he had ironclad control on his emotions, no, it was because nothing he could do would change the fact that they would all perish within days.
Yes, he, Orochimaru of the Sannin, a high S-class shinobi and one of the most brilliant researchers had resigned himself , had submitted himself to his fate. He had exhausted every option but nothing seemed to work. He could not go to another for their help because noone understood the situation better than him, because he was the one whose curious mind, thirst for knowledge led to this situation.
Project Maelstrom yielded results so much better than expected that it did more harm than good or in this case only harm. The sealing of other eight tailed beasts went off without a hitch and everything looked good until 3 weeks ago, when all the tailed beast's chakra inside the jinchuriki started to merge. It was unexpected but not unwelcomed. He then knew the merging would give birth to a beast that even the kyuubi would pale when compared. The scientist in him was elated at the opportunity to observe this one in a millenia occurrence but that elation turned into fear as the jinchuriki started releasing shockwave of extremely corrosive chakra that disintegrated anything it touched and each shockwave was stronger and faster than the previous. The only thing he was able to do was gather other proficient fuinjutsu practitioner and modify the barrier seal gifted to Konoha by Uzushio and seal the jinchuriki but it was only temporary as the shockwave would surely overpower the seals and then obliterate everything.
'Oh well, thinking all that now is futile, there's only hours left. I guess, I should enjoy my last cup of tea because I might not get another in hell' thought Orochimaru.
Tsunade's POV
All she felt was pain but it did not matter as she continued to do what mattered and even the threat of dieing would not deter her from doing what she wanted. She just wanted to save her nephew.
Earlier
Tsunade was in Ame, pushing Iwa's troops towards Hanzo's army when he felt a weak but potent shockwave of chakra and immediately deduced that something was wrong with her nephew. By the time she completed her mission, the shockwave of chakra had stopped but it did not deter her from her course to Konoha.
Upon reaching the outer walls of Konoha, she immediately performed a long-distance shushin and arrived at the kage tower. A cursory glance at the village and she immediately noticed the tensed shinobis and got the feeling that it was not due to just the war. She immediately made her way to the hokage's office and was about to demand the answers from the hokage when he suddenly spoke.
" Sector-7, level 53. 1st passcode- 15-4-1.
2nd passcode -11-9-18-8-9-13-15-20-15.
3rd passcode-11-21-2-15" Hiruzen did not bother to look as he knew that the moment he stopped she was gone.
Tsunade suspicion rose to new heights but instead chose to follow the coordinates given to her. Very few knew of Sector-7 and even fewer knew about the levels below 5. She wasn't supposed to know but having a granduncle who basically created all the secret bases inside and outside of the village helped alot.
Upon reaching the location, which was the second hokage's head and after shifting the sand and rocks in a particular manner, a panel came up directly in front of her, she typed the first passcode and a second later a secret entrance opened with a narrow stair passage spiraling downwards.She did not need to ask for directions from the panicked and frightened staffs that were stationed there as she could clearly sense Orochimaru's chakra.
She stopped in front of the second gate blocking her way, she flared her chakra when she failed to see any panel to enter the passcode, after waiting for what felt like eternity when actually only a few seconds had passed a panel showed itself suddenly like it just poofed into existence. Annoyed that she had to wait unnecessarily she quickly typed the second passcode before she deadpanned as she realized that the passcodes were actually the names of three legendary people who were not only the strongest shinobi of their time but also the author of big 3, 15-4-1 for Oda author of the One piece, 11-9-18-8-9-13-15-20-15 for Kishimoto author of Naruto, her sister named her son after the protagonist named Naruto and 11-21-2-15 for Kubo author of Bleach. Their work was so legendary that even after centuries no one has been able to match their work. She even had to beat up some punks who dared to belittle their work by calling One piece 'mid-piece' , Naruto as overated and Bleach as the most dropped.
She violently shook her head to clear her thoughts and realized that she had reached where Orochimaru was seated, casually sipping tea. And just as it was with the hokage, Orochimaru too answered her unasked question.
"Just follow the orange line on your left and you will reach the chamber he is sealed in and just be sure to activate your seal before you enter or you will die the moment you step inside the sealing chamber.
Following the line for about a minute before she reached another door, she activated her 'strength of a hundred seal' and typed the last passcode and marched it.
Present
Despite the pain, the heartache, the bleak reality and her impending doom, her mind focused elsewhere.
'Is this what it feels like when one's own child?' Tsunade thought as tears sprung in her eyes. Holding 'her' Naruto close to her she wished if only the situation was not like this, she would have adopted Naruto as her own son and not as her nephew. She knew that everything else would have taken a backseat the moment her eyes would gaze on his form and he would have became her world.
She looked down as she felt him shift in her arms , fresh tear again came up in her eyes as he opened his eyes or to be more precise his sharingan eyes. She kissed him on his forehead and knew this was the only chance she would get to say whatever she wanted to.
"Naruto, I am sorry for leaving you all alone while you suffered so much and I am sorry that I'm leaving you alone again. Please forgive this old hag but its okay even if you don't because no matter what I will always love you." she hiccuped while wiping her tears.
"Naruto, I don't know what will happen to you after this and I'm sorry but if you survive, please make the most of it. I know it would be scary and its okay to be scared but you must have the courage to overcome your fears. Please look after yourself and remember to practice your ninjutsu hard...remember that everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, so don't get too depressed if you can't do something well. Oh and try to find the survivors, if there are any and I'm a woman so I don't know much about this but don't get hooked up on bad women, find someone like me or Kushina.
Naruto, from now on you are going to face a lot of hardships but no matter what be true to yourself...have a dream and have the confidence to make that dream come true.
There is so much...oh, so much more that I want to pass on to you. I wish I could stay with you forever." Tsunade leaned and kissed Naruto's cheeks and his forehead before saying "I love you Naruto" with all the love she could muster and even though she knew that the chances that he would end up all alone were very high but she did not want him to think he was alone and give up on life, she wanted him to hold on to hope and keep moving forward.
" Naruto whatever happens, I want you to remember my first and last lesson to you 'Those who break rules are trash but those who abandon their friends and family are lower than trash'". She closed her eyes and just held Naruto close to her for some time before the shockwaves stopped and a heavy pressure settled in and she knew that this was it.
"I love you, son." was all she managed to say before there was a blinding light and then there was nothing.
The shockwave of Ten-tail's chakra obliterated everything it touched.
All across the Elemental Nation, people heard a deafening boom and that was it for them. All the mighty major villages, numerous minor villages and countless civilians villages were wiped off the map within seconds.
An ancient barrier that separated the Elemental Nation from the rest of the world managed to hold the blast for a minute before it was shattered but it had done its job. It had managed to negate corrosive element of the energy blast but what got through was also enough to trigger countless natural disasters like earthquake, thunderstorms, volcanic eruption, landslides and many more.
Two days later
A lone cloaked figure could be seen walking through the ruins of once the strongest shinobi village of the Elemental Nation, Konohagure no Sato. The once hokage monument, the most atheistic in the village now nothing more than rubble. Weaving through the wasteland, the figure stalked towards the source of the gargantuan amount of extremely potent and unique energy. When the figure reached the source, it could not believe that a babe of barely age 4 was the source, the cloaked figure had expected many things but a human babe was not one of them.
After recomposing herself, she removed her cloak to cover the babe's nude from, if anyone saw the former cloaked being they would have thought her as a goddess, for her beauty and grace clearly rivaled one. She had rich, thick waist-length silver hair and her red eyes enhanced beauty levels unfounded, she was wearing a blue and white maid outfit with long sleeves and white maid headband. Totally a sexy goddess but those who knew her in the supernatural world would say with certainty that she was the exact opposite of a goddess. She was the ruthless, cunning, sexy and very dangerous maid of the Lucifer, Rizevim Livan Lucifer.
Her name was Grayfia Luficuge, the most loyal ultimate-class devil under Lucifer's rule. She was from extra demon clan, The Luficuge, which serves under the Lucifer clan. She was so strong that her strength was comparable to that of the Leviathan, Katerea. And of course, her self proclaimed rival, Serafall Sitri. She had the best mission record as her power, control and intellect made short work of any challenge she faced, simply put she was the best at what she did and that was the reason she was sent here to investigate the source of the energy shockwave that was felt all across the world, even the underworld and heaven.
She sped up her work as she was reminded that the other factions would be here soon. The only reason the other factions were not here to investigate because they were currently ensuring and preventing the masses from going into panic and rescuing the victims of the series of sudden natural disasters that occurred two days ago while also uping their defenses and securing their borders incase of any attack during the chaos, which was the last they wanted as the Great War had weakened not only the biblical faction but also other factions too as the war had sparked chaos all over the world, including the other pantheons. The devil faction on the other hand had their upped to maximum for years and every warrior no matter the rank was ordered to prepare for war. The descendants of the original Satans believed that they could take over the world and the heavens because they were extremely weakened from the Great War, neglecting the fact that this war would certainly mean the demise of not only the other factions but that of the devil faction too. But it was not her place to question the decision of her master, her role was to just follow orders.
She took the child in her hands and was ready to teleport when she suddenly raised a block of ice from the ground, laid the child on it and left back while forming her strongest barrier and just in nick of time as a powerful shockwave burst from the child that had managed to completely crack her barrier. She wanted to sigh as she saw the child's stomach gurgle but chose not to as she had an image to maintain as stern and profession, even if no one was around. She warily picked up the child again and almost sighed in relief as he just snuggled into her bosom and slept peacefully. She thought he looked cute but shook her head not wanting to let the cuteness get to her. (sigh) if only she knew.
