Roman has tried many times to overcome his problem with intimacy. He even hired an escort to help him out once, but they never got any further than talking, then he introduced her to his oldest brother and the rest is history.
Tonight, he and Kendall are hanging out in Roman's apartment. They've been hanging out a lot lately, just the two of them, more so than they ever did when they worked together. Somehow they get to talking about the Gerri issue, which leads to talking about the sex issue generally. Roman thinks that perhaps there was always something different about him, which meant that he wasn't cut out for an intimate relationship, but the secret he's been carrying all these years probably doesn't help.
"What secret?" Kendall asks.
"Mo," says Roman. "Lester, I mean." Kendall tenses, knowing this can't be good. "He was always nice to me. Dad was only ever nice to me after he hit me, and I wanted more of that. So I let Mo… I don't know. I shouldn't have. I shouldn't have let him."
Kendall pulls Roman against his shoulder. "It's okay."
"I'm sorry," Roman sobs. Kendall presses his lips to Roman's head. It's like the hug in Logan's office, but without the aggression.
"It's not your fault. It's mine. I didn't know. I should have known. It's my fault."
"It's your fault?" Roman repeats, somewhat comforted.
"Yeah. It's my fault."
Kendall hugs him again before he leaves, asking, "Is there anything I can do?"
"Nah." Roman shakes his head. "Lester's dead. Not like we can dig him up and punish him. There's nothing anyone can do."
Roman gets a good night's sleep and wakes up feeling refreshed for once. He brushes his teeth and makes coffee before sprawling on the couch. For the first time in a while, he doesn't feel the need to watch the viral video of himself at his father's funeral. Instead, he scrolls through social media liking memes like a normal person.
It's only later that day, when Mo's face pops up on local news, next to the headline Suspected sex offender's remains unearthed in bizarre grave-digging attack, that he realises that wow, his brother really loves him.
