It was only a matter of time before the family dozed off.
Well, everyone except Janner. He was worried about the Fangs. He wondered how the Annierans were doing. Hopefully they aren't hurt. He thought. He looked at his family. Sara had fallen asleep leaning of Janner. Artham, Maraly, and Gammon were resting by the ladder that led out of the safe room. Arundelle and Madya leaned in one of the corners of the walls. Nia, Leeli, and Kalmar had laid against another wall, huddled together for warmth.
"Can't sleep?"
Janner turned and saw Gammon sit up.
"No, not really." Janner replied quietly.
"I'm sure we'll all be fine."
"But...what about the people? And the Dragons?" Janner said, worried.
"Those Dragons probably went to protect the people. I'm sure the Hollish have heard about what happened, and are on their way here." Gammon reassured him.
"Let's hope so." Janner leaned back, and finally fell asleep.
When everyone woke up, around what they guessed was morning, Sara and Nia changed Janner's bandages, to his dismay.
"My leg feels fine." Janner stated.
"Good." Nia replied.
Janner breathed a sigh of relief.
"But we're still going to change the bandage." Sara said in a matter-of-factly tone.
Janner threw his head back and wailed while Kalmar and Maraly laughed at him.
"Drama king." Sara mumbled to herself.
Janner heard her. "No, Kal's the king. I'm the Throne Warden, remember?"
Sara rolled her eyes. "Drama Warden."
"So I protect the drama?"
Sara sighed, with an amused smile. "No!"
Janner laughed.
"So, should we, I don't know, maybe send someone to see if it's safe to come out of here?" Kalmar asked.
Artham considered what he said. "Well, I could go."
"I'll go too." Gammon said.
"Ha, nice try but you ain't leavin' me behind!" Maraly said, brandishing one of her daggers.
"Me neither!" Kal said, standing up.
"Alright, it's settled. Janner gets to stay behind with all of the women while us men-"
Maraly cleared her throat.
"-and young girl go check to see if it's safe." Kalmar said, grinning at his brother.
Janner rolled his eyes. "It's better than having to protect you out there."
Kal gasped while Sara laughed.
"We ready?" Artham asked.
Kal, Maraly, and Gammon nodded their heads.
And so they left.
