Trina groaned as she began to wake up. Her head was pounding and she felt like a heavy weight was sitting on top of her and her mouth felt like it was full of cotton. She moaned as she forced her eyes opened and frowned as the room came into view. She was on a twin bed in a room that was sparsely furnished. There was also another bed, where Ava lay unconscious. She looked around, looking for any clues about where they were or who had taken them. The last thing she remembered was Spencer's voice saying her name and her trying to tell him that she loved him before the gas that was filling the car took her out.
Spencer...oh god, Spencer! He must be scared out of his mind! What had she been thinking calling him like that and from the looks of it, her phone was gone, so she couldn't call him back! He probably thought she was dead or something! Heck, maybe she was. Maybe this was purgatory. It certainly wasn't heaven or else her family would be here with her, right?
A moan from Ava caught her attention. She watched as her mentor woke up, gripping her head as she sat up.
"What the hell?" Ava cursed.
"Ava? Are you okay?" Trina asked, trying to get to her feet, but when she did, the room began to spin, so she sat right back down.
Ava frowned as she looked up at the frightened girl that she had taken under her wing. She looked around alarmed, taking in their surroundings. "What is this? Where are we? Who is responsible for this? Is this some joke by Victor?"
"Do you think so? Do you think Spencer's here?" Trina managed to get to her feet without feeling like she was on a merry-go-round. "We have to find him if this is Victor."
"I don't know, but best believe, I'm going to find out," Ava got up and made her way to the door and began to bang on it. "Hey! Hey, whoever brought us here, show yourself! Is this you, Victor Cassadine?! Let us out right now!"
"Spencer?! Spencer, it's Trina! I'm here!" Trina called out, wanting to let her boyfriend know that she was ok, despite what her phone call had sounded like.
"Victor!"Ava called again, pounding and pounding on the door until she couldn't anymore. "Damn it!"
"I guess we can only sit here and wait to see what happens now," Trina sniffed, settling back on her bed. She wished that she had her phone. It had been her one link to Spencer. Now that was gone. She'll probably never talk to him again. He was gone forever from her now. Hot tears leaked from her eyes at the thought.
"Hey. Hey, don't do that. Don't cry. We're gonna get out of here. I know we will. We'll find out what this person wants, pay them whatever they want, and then go home and go on with our lives," Ava made her way over to sit next to Trina and rub her arms. "It's going to be alright, Trina."
"How do you know that? You don't even know who took us. You don't know where we are."
"I know that we're together right now. That's something. Together, we can get through anything."
Trina's tears increased as she thought of all she had lost. First, she had lost Spencer, just when she had finally gotten him, then she had lost her mother, then both Marcus and Curtis, then Marshall and Aunt Stella. Finally, she had lost Joss, which left her only Ava. Now it seems she had lost her freedom as well! She couldn't take any more of this!
"I want my mom!"
"Oh sweetie," Ava wrapped her arms around the sobbing girl, feeling awful. Trina had truly lost everything and Ava didn't know how to give any of it back to her.
Finally, the door began to open. Both women stood up and turned to face the last person either of them had even suspected. Nikolas Cassadine.
"You!" Ava angrily yelled, leaving Trina's side to storm right up to Nikolas and slap him hard on the face. "You're behind this?! Where have you been all of this time?! There's a pandemic going on, thanks to your Uncle Victor! Oh, and he's kidnapped both of your sons, leaving poor Trina here worried to death! You disappear off the face of the earth, worrying your mother and son and now you pull this?! Who the hell are you?!"
"Hello, Ava," Nikolas rubbed the side of his face where Ava's hand had left a red mark. "I see that you haven't changed a bit, except this time you used your hand instead of an ornament."
"I would use a gun if I could! Put you out of your misery for good!"
"Ava...Spencer wouldn't like that," Trina quietly whispered, even now her thoughts full of Spencer. For some reason, she just couldn't let go of the hope that maybe she'll see him again.
Ava's heart ached when she looked at Trina, who was obviously still heartsick. "I think he'd understand after the stunt his father had just pulled."
"I think he'd understand once he knows the reason. That my oh-so-loving ex-wife tried to kill me!" Nikolas glared.
"What?" Trina frowned. What was this? When did this happen?
"That was an accident! You were going to take Avery away and I had to do something! No mother would just stand by and let someone kidnap their child!" Ava yelled.
"You didn't even call the hospital! According to my captor...who shall remain nameless, you hid me in some closet! It was her man that found me and got me hooked up on life support, no thanks to you!"
"Ava!" Trina gasped, totally in shock! She had no idea that this was going on! She remembered how devastated both Spencer and Laura had been over Nikolas's disappearance, yet Ava knew what had happened! "Ava, how could you?! You saw how worried Mayor Collins was! You saw how devastated Spencer became, blaming himself for chasing his father away after finding out Esme had manipulated him from the start! Yet you never came out to say what really happened! They all thought that he had abandoned them! Spencer thinks he's the cause of all of it when it was you the entire time!"
"Trina, you have to understand…," Ava tried to go to her, but Trina jerked away from her.
"No! Don't touch me! I can't believe you! I thought my mother was a liar, but you are too! And I trusted you!"
"Trina!"
Trina didn't answer. She just turned her back on Ava and crossed her arms, hot tears spilling from her eyes. She wanted Spencer so badly at that moment, it was killing her.
Ava whirled back around on Nikolas, her eyes flashing with anger. "Are you happy now?! Hasn't she been through enough, losing her family and her boyfriend? Now you've completely destroyed her trust in the one person she has in her life!"
"Don't put this on me, Ava. This is your own fault!"
"What do you want, Nikolas? Where are we? Why did you bring us here? For what purpose?!"
"What I want is my life and family back. I've brought you here to Cassadine Island to keep you out of my life and out of my way! You won't be inserting yourself in my business ever again! You'll be living your life here until the day you die, Ava!"
"What does Trina have to do with this? She's never done anything to you! In fact, she loves your son far more than she probably should with all the hurt he's caused her! Do you think he'll forgive you for this? Because you're wrong if you do think that."
"I didn't mean to take Trina. They had brought her here with you. I'd never hurt her. In fact, if things go as planned, she'll be reunited with Spencer soon."
"What?"
"Like I said, I have plans, Ava. Victor's days are numbered. Soon, I'll have both of my sons back with me and I'll free Trina so she and Spencer can be reunited, but until that time comes, I'll let you try to repair your relationship. I'm not a monster. I'll give you a chance to at least have one friend in the world. That is if you can make things right with her."
"Nikolas, wait! Let her go! There's no need for you to keep her here! Let her go home to Port Charles and live her life! Do it as a favor to me! To Spencer!"
Nikolas sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. "I can't risk her going back and telling people that I have you here. Not to worry, she's perfectly safe and like I said, she'll soon be reunited with my son. You wouldn't want to get in the way of that, would you?"
"Damn you, Nikolas! Avery needs her mother!"
"Avery is better off without you! Goodness knows, your presence did nothing for poor KiKi," Nikolas snorted before walking out the door before Ava could retaliate.
Feeling hopeless, Ava turned to look at Trina, just to find the girl curled up on the bed, facing away from her. She sighed, not moving to sit next to her, knowing that Trina didn't want that right now. "I'm so sorry, sweetie. This is all my fault. I should have told you what was going on...I was just...scared I guess. But hey, if Nikolas keeps his word, you'll be seeing Spencer soon. You can tell him that you love him then. That's something to look forward to, right? I bet he misses you…"
"Don't! Don't you dare even say his name after what you did to him!" Trina sat up and glared at her former boss.
"Trina…"
"You made him blame himself when it was really you! Did you think it was funny to see him cry like that? Did you laugh yourself sick at the sight of his tears over his father?!"
"No! I felt terrible! I just...I didn't know what to do to make it right! I was scared and...stupid. I should have told the truth! You're right about that and both you and Spencer have every right to be angry with me."
"Just leave me alone, Ava! I don't want to even look at you much less talk to you," Trina sobbed, keeping her back to the older woman.
Feeling terrible, Ava went back to her bed and sat on the edge, burying her face in her hands, knowing that her relationship with Trina may never be the same.
…..
Victor Cassadine again entered Spencer's room. The guard's body had been removed a long time ago and Spencer had done nothing but sit and glare at the ceiling, feeling miserable. He was sure that his Uncle had done something bad to Trina. There was no other explanation.
"Are you done brooding over that guard yet?" Victor questioned, standing in the doorway with his arms crossed. "I'd like to take you to see Ace, but not in the mood that you're in, young man."
Spencer turned his glare onto his Uncle. "What did you do to Trina? She better still be alive or…"
"I have no idea what you are talking about. I have done nothing to Trina. If something bad had befallen her, it was not because of me."
"Of course it was. If you hadn't kidnapped me, I would have been there to protect her and put a stop to it, so yeah. It's still your fault."
Victor took an annoyed deep breath and shook his head. "Whatever. I need you to pack up the clothes I have provided for you. We are going to go to Cassadine Island. We'll be there...indefinitely I assume since your father has decided to come out of hiding."
Spencer frowned and got to his feet. "What did you say? My father?"
"Yes, Nikolas has shown up on Cassadine Island and he had requested for us to join him. We will be leaving first thing tomorrow, so pack up your things and be ready. Oh and do be polite to Nikolas. I do not want any of the...troubles we had in Port Charles to disrupt the family again. Do you understand?"
Spencer simply nodded, settling back down onto the bed as Victor left the room. His father had reappeared. He was on Cassadine Island waiting for them. He couldn't help but wonder what was to happen now. Hopefully, his father could get both himself and Ace away from Victor so that Spencer could return to his life...and Trina...that is if Trina was still alive. God, let her still be alive! He wouldn't be able to stand it if she wasn't.
