"A while back we head rumors of Fangs." Kal began.

"How far back?" Artham asked.

Kal sighed. "Like, a couple months ago."

"And you didn't think to tell us?" Nia asked, with a hint of sadness in her voice.

Janner sighed. "I wanted to, but Kal insisted that us 3"-he motioned to Kal and Leeli-"keep it a secret until we knew more."

"How much more did you find out?" Sara asked.

Janner shrugged. "Nothing really."

Kal sighed loudly.

"What?" Janner turned to his brother.

"You didn't find much out. I...did."

Janner frowned. "You agreed to let me and Leeli know this stuff!"

"I know! And I'm sorry! But, I had to keep it secret, or else...you guys would probably hate me for it."

"Kalmar, we would never hate you for anything." Nia said.

"I wish I knew that before."

"You should have figured that out already." Janner said. "How many times have I saved your life again?"

Kal forced a small smile. "I know, I was stupid to think that."

"Yes, you were." Artham chuckled.

Kal returned to his serious manner. "But, I never thought that they'd attack us. They'd even sent me letters, from the Stonekeepers. How they sent them, I don't know."

"Wait, they sent notes?" Janner asked.

"Yeah, and I was so stupid I didn't think to take them into consideration."

"How many people knew about the notes?" Leeli asked.

"Just me." Kal replied.

Artham sighed. "But, how does this explain why they attacked?"

"Because I didn't respond to their notes, and a few of the notes specifically asked for a response."

"That's no reason to attack!" Sara pointed out.

"I know, but that's just part of the reason." Kal sighed. "I-I sort of...dared them to attack us."

"You what?!" Now Janner was angry.

Kal hid his face in shame. "I know what I did was stupid, I know I'm an idiot for doing it, but listen. I sent them a note, a reply to all their previous notes. It said, 'If you think I'm gonna let you attack Anniera, then you're wrong.'."

Janner sighed. "That's as good as a dare."

"I wish I'd never replied to their notes." Kal said, tearing up.

Nia hugged him.

"I'm so sorry." He sobbed.

"I know, and we forgive you." She said in a soothing voice.

Janner joined the hug, but quickly backed out of it, his bandage being soaked in blood.

"Janner." Sara looked at him, concerned.

He sighed, then limped back to his corner. He sat down, and leaned against the wall while Sara grabbed the bandages. She silently changed them, then cuddled up with him.

"I love you." He whispered to her.

"I love you too." She whispered back.
