One World: Many Souls

Chapter 5: Educational Disturbance

Frisk's Point of View:

The excitement that ran through me was insane!

Not only was I going to school again, but my sophomore year was actually in the human world! With my friends from the underground easily accepted into the school. The nerves in my body were ignited. I could barely hold back the feelings I felt as I got away from home.

It was starting to be more boring there. Angel had so many things she had to do as Gram's new head of the family that I hardly saw her or Sans. And Paps left me moving into the college dorm! Angel and Sans just helped him move in only a month ago and it was so lonely without him! So boring... only my friends were still around. I could still count on Sophia, Jay and MK, but it wasn't the same...

And I guess I could say Azz too, maybe. Granted, with the summer break over and school starting and he being out of the system for so long… Sans was spending extra time with him at home to see where his comfort level was with everything before he'd join us. Not just academics, but people and situations too. Another annoying reason as to why I was frustrated…

It was infuriating... why'd he have to go away right after getting to the surface? Shouldn't he had taken some time off to spend and adjust? Why was he such a workaholic?

It was a struggle to keep the pout off my face when I was dropped off at the school with my friends in one of our estate cars. The students watched with wide eyes as the four of us exited the vehicle and strolled inside, ignoring them all. Sophia was eagerly looking around while her arm was hooked in my own. Jay and MK were right behind us looking around eagerly. I could see the eyes on us. A rich human girl with monster friends.

I could tell from some of the looks that a few of them weren't pleased with my choice of friends. Others just watched on in astonishment. The glare I sent out due to my less than happy mood forced a lot of students to look away from us as we traveled. Sophia literally was doing a hooting squeal while I led her into the high school my sister had gone to all those years ago back when I was barely five.

"The surface world is still so strange to me... that blinding stone of light in the sky you call the sun isn't a stone?"

"Nope." MK said quickly, injecting himself. "It's actually a star. It provides light and energy that the life on this outer world needs unlike that of the underground. It's the center of this galaxy and apparently this planet we're on isn't the only one. Another thing is that it's made of gas, mostly hydrogen and helium."

Sophia gasped. "That's too much for my brain to handle!"

"Didn't you read the books that Angel and Sans gave us when we first got to the surface Soph?" Jay was sighing. It was easy to know that he was rolling his eyes from past experience that I'd had with them. MK had been my best friend for the entire two years I was underground. Jay and Sophia I met only nine months prior to the current day.

"Um... not really?"

"So, we'll study later then?' I shrugged as I looked at the others. "We'll just gather at my place. Angel doesn't mind. It's just going to be a later dinner then we're used to because she's out for the Terians to improve her standing and all that junk."

"Hey, come on Frisk. Don't be sour." MK was quick to defend my sister while I huffed. "You know she's got a lot on her plate. She's doing all she can with what time she has."

A deep sigh escaped me as I knew he was right. I was just being an awful teen. I knew my sister was doing her best, but it still just sucked. "Yeah... I know."

The hallways were just as long as I remembered. Though not as massively tall as my childlike mind had thought. I remembered the ceilings being high when I was barely as tall as my sister's waist. I vague remembered her lifting me up in her arms so I could open doors, or pull out her books for her when our parents brought us by to pick her up. She had the patience of a saint, the grace of an actual angel. She always cared, and made you feel loved. No matter what.

She was always so motherly, something I could never understand sometimes.

Hallways were lined with lockers. Some of them on the shorter side where you had to bend down to get to them, others were up above our heads for some of the tallest of the men who stood over six foot, and a few ladies. I watched those seniors tower over as we passed by along with the few lost looking monster teens who were trying their hands at these new schools.

Just as I was getting to look around more, a loud bell echoed in the background of the school. It signaled most of the students to haul ass off in a different direction. Class was beginning. Students were rushing in the hallways, many of them running while teachers called out for them to cool it. Some listened, others didn't as they didn't wish to be tardy to their first day of the school year.

"Let's head to class then and get situated." Jay was the one to pull us from our sudden stupor and led to the classroom of course that he knew how to get to. The know it all of our group led us down a maze of hallways and down a flight of stairs to an exposed classroom out of the back side of a hill.

An actually pretty view of the grass and outdoor area seemed to be there, perhaps a science class where experiments cold be done outside? That would have been cool. Especially in the case we made mistakes. At least with all that space outside it would be easier clean up and less of a mess depending on what was going on. I knew my friends would love that. MK and Jay were always the smart ones while Sophia and I were more of the labor involved or physical.

And, of course, our charm was loved!

Our seats all appeared to be labeled as we began to get situated. MK and Jay had been put behind Sophia and I. Clearly the thought process had been to put the tallest of the class in the back while smaller or similar sized people were closer to the front. I could see how other human students besides myself were seated around us on the edges of the rows. We were to have a class of twelve if my math was right.

Granted, I still sucked at it…

"Welcome class!" Quickly did we see a human woman of perhaps middle age walk in. Dressed a lot like I would see Angel dress before we came to the surface in plaid shirts and jeans. Her hair was short along her shoulders and she gave us a warm smile that reminded me or my sister and Tori. "I'm Miss Regan and I'll be your science teacher this year. I'd like to start us off with some more easier assignments for us all to get to know each other. And I'd love to know about all of you. I also hope you'll be willing to make new friends in this class, so let's get started first with attendance before I got into more details about the year and what will be expected today. Can I start with Zachary Alisha?"

The teacher took those precious few minutes then to go over all the children she had on her list. I didn't notice any issues or anything out of the ordinary as that was conducted. So far, the teacher seemed fair to my friends from the underground, as well as two others that had been added to the class who sat nearby us.

Those of the underground seemed to have been placed all in the middle. It must have been purposeful with the hope of myself being mixed in with them that transitions would move a bit smoother since I was associated with all the monster teens recently relocated to the surface. It was a smart move.

I just had to remember to keep myself in check. I was a Terians after all, even if I was an angry teen at the world, I had to keep it together. I could accidently affect Angel and all her hard work if I wasn't careful.

"Perfect!" With that, our teacher slammed the binder down on her roster. "Now let's move onto the next thing! For today, I'm going to have all of you fill out two papers that I'm going to give you! You will then need to go ahead and type up your findings later for me to read about yourselves, where you've come from and perhaps some exciting things you've done over the last few years. I also want you all to write up a report about either a few people you meet in class today or perhaps even just one new person. This assignment won't be due until the end of the week, and if you have any questions or want to know a bit more about myself, I'll be over at my desk. Go ahead and get started!"

With that, our teacher made her way over to each rows of desks to pass out papers. Two papers landed on my desk that went into detail of the assignment that the teacher had just spoken of. The instructions listed gave us until Friday to complete the two write ups we had to do on either papers.

"Oooo!" Sophia squeaked, jumping from the seat she was given as others of the class began to roam around. "She wants to know about our home in the underground before we came to the surface? I'm surprised."

"Why would you be? Of course, humans would be interested." I struggled so hard not to roll my eyes at my best friend. I didn't want to hurt her feelings. As much as I wanted to lash out, and probably would sometime later, I couldn't do it to her. "I was a lot when I first met MK. He spent days telling me about the underground along with Sans and Papy, while I told him about the aboveground world."

"Yeah, so many things that we've seen now match up with what she's said, but there's a lot of stuff I'd still love to see." MK grinned while leaning his body into his personally constructed arms. The male had spent many years working on them with the robotics team in the underground. "I'm excited to get to my robotics class later today!"

"You enjoy that man." Jay sighed while he leaned back into his seat. "I've got a nice AP history class that I'm eager to take on the human world. I'm curious about how much I can cram into my skull before the end of the year."

"Ug! That's boring..." Sophia pouted at our friend before turning to me with wide beady eyes. "What are you taking later, Frisky?"

"Music." It was a simple answer. I had brought my new violin that my sister had purchased along with the flute of my earliest childhood memories with me. "I plan to join the band, maybe take an advance music class later on if I like it enough or if I have other interests."

"Oh..." Her feathers began to flatten in her disappointment. "All I have later in the day is a study hall..."

The rest of us frowned at that. Jay was the one to speak what we all were thinking at the time. "Sophia, I thought you were going to sign up for that baking class? You wanted to learn more about surface cooking and what not?"

"I-I did! B-but I... I thought we were gonna... have all our classes together for at least the first semester..."

And that led to a terrible ping in the bottom of my stomach. I felt bad that we couldn't be always together, but we were beginning to spread out just a tad. With the help of my sister, at least three of our classes a day we had together. Those were our core classes that made the most sense. However, in the last class of the day, that's where all of us had different classes that would lead to interests or future plans for after high school.

Sophia hadn't really put much time into it compared to the rest of us. I knew she didn't really know yet what she wanted to do. She was still playing around with it a lot and unsure of her future. Cooking had been a fun pass time she'd taken up with Papy and Angel in the underground, but she wasn't sure if she wanted to do it all the time.

"There still should be some time to sign up for those elective classes, Soph." Jay gently tried to speak to her. Others around us were casually chatting with one another, ignoring the four of us as were in deeper conversation. "There should be something you could try. What about art? You always seemed to have fun when painting with Angel."

Sophia huffed at that. "I was just playing around... my work is nothing like Angel's, and she's the best artist that was in the underground..."

"Your work you wouldn't want to be like Angel's. You want it to be your own." I raised an eye brow at my friend, really surprised by her behavior. It wasn't like her to act so... shy? "Why would you be concerned that it looks like Angel's? Your work would be mistaken for hers or you could be plagiarized."

"Not that that's going to happen!" MK was quick to note at the pale face Sophia gave me, and then the boys glared at me.

Shit, I was getting mean again...

"Right, right. Sorry."

Sophia sighed, she sunk in her seat in worry. Her feathers began to ruffle in her upset.

"Look, you should go see the guidance counselor after this and see if they can add you to one more class or something you wanna try." MK tried to nudge the girl along again. Sophia sighed as she contemplated the options before her.

"Maybe she might wanna try woodshop? Or maybe that class where you work with clay?"

The new voice startled us and I turned my head to look to the guy who spoke just to the side of us. Beside us was a human boy, perhaps just slightly older than the rest of us who was covered with a head of wild waves of bright blond. Under those messy locks could I see surpassingly tan skin and stunning blue eyes. They were a brighter shade, like the soft glow of the glow of the crystals. He was showing us a sly looking smile that had me stopping in surprise.

Who the hell was this guy? And why the hell was he so good looking?

I couldn't help but stare down his form. Covered in black jeans and shirt, his body was shown off in ways I was sure he was trying to show off. A muscular build under his clothes, he carefully looked over our rag tag group before focusing on myself. Wearily I looked at him. I wasn't sure why he was focusing in on me. I hung out with the monster kind. I wasn't exactly going to be kind to humans unless they were kind to my friends.

I hate how confused I felt. He was attractive, that was for sure. But it worried me that he was only out to chat with me. Or get closer to me. My friends came first.

"Dumb question, but you guys are from the monster kingdom under the mountain, right?" The boy moved his head just right and his hair flicked. I hated how it made my heart pound a little harder. "And your one of the two house members that were trapped down there too, right? Francine?"
A scowl naturally placed itself on my face at the mention of my name. "It's Frisk."

His hands were quickly held up in defense. "Ah geeze. Sorry! Didn't mean to piss you off. You're listed as Francine in the papers, didn't know you had a nickname or I would have used that instead."

Why? Why did I feel so bad for being mean to him? I never felt that bad for being mean to someone unless they meant a lot to me, like Sophia or Papy. But as I sat beside him, that smile of his... why was I so drawn to it?

He didn't have magic, did he? I felt different around him...

I sulked and turned away, trying to keep myself in check. "Whatever."

I could feel the stares on me the second I did that. My friends were worried at my behavior, because that wasn't like me to let things go like that. What was wrong with me?

"I just wanted to introduce myself to you. I'm Luke Madden." Through my somewhat messy locks, I saw him extending a hand before all of us. "I was hoping that maybe you guys might help me with that project from the teacher? I'm new in town and know no one, but you guys look cool."

His words, my heart kept pounding and I couldn't stop looking at him.

Is this some sort of stupid teen crush?!

Angel's Point of View:

There was always something so satisfying the second you walked in the door to your home, kicked off your shoes, and sat in the nearest chair you could find. That was exactly what I did the moment I made it home from the four meetings and lunch I had out with Asgore, Tori and my grandmother. Sans dragged himself inside along with him, not even bothering to find another seat before he flopped over on top of me himself. I didn't even care that he was crushing my body from the strange angle. It was just so nice to be home, get off our feet, not have to run our mouths, and not act politically.

By the time I even had the energy to look up over the top of my husband's skull to look at the musical clock that went off on the wall, I noticed it was seven in the evening. With a sigh, I used my magic throughout the home to set Sans against the couch while I hurried over to the kitchen for a quick bite to eat before bed. Thankfully it was a lighter schedule the next day which allowed for sleeping in a bit and a mellow morning before one meeting and lessons with Gram.

"Oh! Angel!" I shook my head to remain awake as I heard the voice of Sophia behind me. "Good evening! Would you like some of the pizzas we bought? We found the money that you guys left us and picked it up on the way home."

"Thank you, Sophie." The girl eagerly retrieved the items from the refrigerator to put a few slices on two plates for us and heated them up. She gave one to me quickly before running the other to my husband. Sans was startled awake long enough to see the food to eat before he slowly began in when he smelled the food.

"Hey, Angel?"

Just as I was taking a bite of food did the girl hesitantly speak to me. I gave her a curious tired eye while I could hear the others of her friends upstairs in Frisk's room.

"Yes Sophie?"

"Is... do... um..." She paused with her words, unsure of how to speak. "Humans... do they have magic like you do?"

I blinked, surprised by the question. "Not many. Why do you ask?"

Sophia looked worried the second that I asked that, and I became more awake by the moment as I watched her. Sophia didn't let too many things ruffle her feathers, not unless it had something to do with her friends. I knew she was beginning to grow into a woman, so I wondered if it was questions about that? She certainly wouldn't want to talk about that before Jay or MK.

But she asked about humans having magic. That was such a strange question...

"Sophia, is something wrong?"

"Um... I don't... know?" She looked at me with such a strange set of scared and curious. It was a look I hadn't seen on her since the incident with Frisk going undercover for the jury. That was the kind of look when Sophia clung to my sister in the wake of everyone being arrested. "We met this human boy today... and... Frisk is... different..."

"Different?" I repeated the world carefully while the girl nodded eagerly. "How?"

"Um... y-you know how she's kinda... been a bit meaner recently right?"

"Yes, she's turning into a teen, rightfully earning that title." That cause me to feel quite irritated if my sister had done something she shouldn't have. "What did she do?"

"N-no! Frisk didn't do anything!"

I raised an eye brow in surprised. "That's a first. What happened then?"

"She... this boy we met... and Frisk let him get away with calling her Francine after he apologized!"

I blinked at the girl. Sans even sat up straighter on the couch and teleported next to me. Leaning against me, we both looked at the girl with quite stunned faces.

"I-I wanted to know if humans could use magic... because I know Frisk wouldn't do that normally. She even seemed surprised herself! I-I don't get it? Did something happen to my friend?"

"Hm... well... I'm not sure. Did it look like he used magic?"

"N-not really?"

Sans groaned. "Coulda been magic that can't be seen either, Precious."

And that didn't settle when I heard it. With a sigh, I contemplated what it honestly was that could be wrong with my sister. It wasn't like her at all to act like that. With a burning passion she hated her first name, and she never forgave anyone who used it. Even those of close family and friends she'd put a ugly little face on and ignore us for days.

She would never give into anyone, especially some random boy... Was she sick? Or worse? Could she be developing her first crush?

Oh, to the great lord above, I hoped it wasn't that. I wasn't ready to deal with teen love drama on top of her being literally an ass.

"How did she seem when she came home?"

Sophia had to think about that carefully. "More like normal I think... She was screaming swears at MK earlier during a tournament."

I sighed. "Then we can wait until the morning. Sans and I are too tired to deal with much else right now after the day we had. We'll chat with her tomorrow at breakfast with you guys or without depending how she feels. Okay?"

"Okay." Her feathers settled a bit as she looked up at us a bit more hopefully. The young woman quickly came to me for a hug. Her fluffy little feather covered head landed on my shoulder, not quite as tall as myself or Frisk. "Thanks Angel..."

"Its fine Sophie." I let the girl hold me for a few moments before I pulled back. "Okay, I hate to be mean, but Sans and I are probably going to bed soon. Can you tell the others to keep it down for us? We'll be along to wish you all a good night in a bit."

"Of course, Angel!"

And with that the lovely friend of my sister's took off while I stood there with my husband. A sigh escaped both of us and I almost couldn't bring myself to match my eyes with his eye lights. We leaned against each in the midst of the struggle to stay awake.

"Is it weird that I'm worried Sophie might be right?"

"Nah, Precious. I'm worried too." An arm came around me, holding me close in desperation as well as comfort. "Gonna have ta see what we can find out 'bout this guy."

"We will, but in the morning. I can barely stand, and neither can you."

"Yeah, yeah. In the mornin'. Let's go get some z's."

Witch's Note:

And here we are with the end of chapter five! And what a chapter it was? What do you all think of this new character that has been added? Luke Madden? What do you think his role will be? How is he going to be included in this story? And-

(I pause for a moment as Mystic Girl is near drooling over in the corner. She almost seems to be- (REDACTED) With seeing that, I rushed over to her with a towel in hand.) Mystic! Get a hold of yourself! We can't give the readers any clues!

Mystic Girl: But Halloween! I finally get to see him revealed! FINALLY!

Me: I know, but hold it in! We have too many surprises related to him. Come on! You can do it! For the readers!

Mystic Girl: AAAHHHHGGGG!

Me: Moving onto reviews! NOW!

Thechaosmaster: I'm glad you enjoyed that chapter with Asriel and Angel. It was a fun little transition to show just how the poor young teen was adjusting back to being a part of normal life once more. But also it's to show where perhaps a lot of the internal demons that were bothering Angel so much, we can see how she's recovered from them but they still are attached there, and they could still appear with the right... stimulation, I suppose is the right word? Maybe?

I hope you're doing alright as well. Hopefully we didn't make you too red last week with the advice given for both your grieving and your romantic life. Just know that your decisions are your own, and you need to make them how you deem fit. And especially when it comes to how you feel in situations or about your feelings or affection for others. You control that. If you're not ready for that, then take your time. No one can force you and no one should. It's always your decision, and if we're pushing or making fun of you too much, say something. Okay?

But you're still friggin adorable!

MysticBoywastaken: My god, you two are too adorable for your own good! Making me and Mystic Girl squeal over here! Again, only do what you're comfortable with Mystic Boy, okay?

And as for Frisk... oh boy... There is so much planned for that girl... and I can honestly say I'm interested/worried about how you'll take what we did for her for her own personal growth arc. But I don't want to spoil anything, so I won't say anything more, but you'll have to give us your guesses if you feel up to it! It's gonna be... interesting...

Mystic Girl: INTERESTING?! THAT'S ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IT!?

Me: It's all I'm willing to say without giving anything away. And you can't say anything either. I want the readers to figure it out on their own, or be surprised by the reveal with the way we've crafted this. I want to see which side of the coin they're on. So be patient, Mystic, have faith in your followers and see what they think on their own.

Mystic Girl: (She pouts, but stays quiet for now.)

Dasansi: Well, it's great to see you too Dasansi! Got worried for a bit when we didn't see you, but no worries, your back and that's all that matters. You're not too late to the party, besides, we still have over sixty chapters to go! We got time. XD

I'm glad you seem to like what we have for a goal for Papy. We're trying to play on what he had for other skills besides that of the fighting aspect when he was in the guard. And yeah... reading chapter two to make sure that Papy did indeed want to cook for people everyday for the rest of his life... yeah... I had to put that in since I knew someone like you would ask. It's a hard job, and it's going to get tougher as he grows. But let's see how that goes, yeah?

And as for Papy's end goal? Yeah. I'm not giving any spoilers! XD You'll just have to wait and see!

Shadow8Phantom: Perhaps it is Shadow, we didn't get a lot of looks into Asriel's life as Flowey to be able to know just how much he was or wasn't aware of certain things. With this time line being so different and not containing the reset ability that those characters would normally have, to me perhaps it makes sense that it was too hard to be near his parents or listen to gossip about them. Especially with Chara's spirit possibly haunting him and telling him to live.

Ooooo! What an interesting idea! Doing that compassion you did for Asgore and Toriel, I loved when you did that so we could actually see if objectively from two different ways they were portrayed in different styles by different people. I'd love for you to do that if you want! Doesn't bother me in the slightest. You can do a comparison on any of the characters you want! I know the way I write Sans is vastly different from others, and my version of Frisk can be similar to many and different from others depending on who is directing her (or them, or he) in different novels and works of Undertale.

So as we come to each end of the chapter, or whenever you feel you have enough evidence, you're welcome to hit me with your best shot! I love hearing all the good, the bad and the gritty. Besides, if I don't hear from you all and see your point of view of how my writing is seen or accepted, how do I grow as a writer?

You got the green light Shadow! Go for it!

Not A Shady Guy: Oh my goodness! Shady! Did it really hit that hard?! Oh wow... Is it bad of me to say how honored that makes me to hear you say that? It really does mean a lot to me! When those powerful moments hit home and bring tears to someone's eye, by joy or sadness, understanding too, it means so much that I've actually been able to accomplish something. To me at least.

But now I'm curious how you're going to respond to this chapter...

Okay, but now I think this is a good place to stop and get ready for the next chapter. Man, there's a lot of changing chapters back to back, aren't there Mystic?

Mystic Girl: (I can see the girl off in the distance holding her breath while she pouts at me.)

Me: What the hell!? Don't choke or something? Breath!

Mystic Girl: (She only shook her head at me before handing over a piece of paper. Reading it aloud, it said): I'm not saying anything or else I'm gonna reveal something. I gotta get outta here!

(And with that, Mystic Girl ran from my room to her office so she could scream her head off in frustration.)

Me: Welp, if that's not a way to end a chapter, I don't know what is folks! Anyway, we love you all and see you next week!

Halloween Witch and Mystic Girl
