RainyDayReading342: *sobbing* The last line though... TEARS
KGWingfeatherFan:*cries, sobs, weeps* JANNER! NO NO NOT AGAIN!
Oh Janner! Why why?
AND WHY IS BUNGE THE KEEPER?! I hate that guy!
PLS KEEP WRITING!
A/N: LOL I love reading people's reviews, it's just so funny.
Everyone felt gloomy for the rest of the day. It was mostly silent.
A silence that Janner could have broken.
By the end of the day, Kalmar was fed up with everyone's depression.
"Alright! You guys are a bunch of kill-joys!" Kal said, partially angrily and partially sadly. "We need to do something uplifting!"
Leeli sighed. "Kal..."
"No! Come on! Let's tell stories, or play a game, or tell jokes-"
"Kalmar," Nia said calmly. "I love your want for joy, but right now isn't the time."
"But-"
"Kal, your mother's right." Artham said. "Just give us some time, will you?"
"But-"
"Maybe we should go to bed early."
"But-"
"I agree, we need the rest."
"WILL YOU LET ME SPEAK?!"
Kalmar's outburst startled everyone.
"Kal-"
He cut Sara off. "No! You guys are acting horribly! You are always telling me to act better, and not as gloomy, but now you're the gloomy ones! Don't you get it? Your attitudes aren't helping ANYTHING!"
Everyone stayed silent.
They all knew he was right.
Kal continued, in a calmer manner. "Don't you see it? Your attitude isn't helping the fact that he's gone."
Sara sighed and looked down.
Nia looked at her son. "You're right. It isn't helping anything. We're sorry, aren't we?"
Everyone else muttered their apologies.
Kal sighed. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have yelled like that."
"You had every right to." Arundelle said calmly.
Kal looked at them all, his eyes lingering on Sara. He couldn't imagine what she was going through, knowing her love was going into a dangerous situation.
"I'm still sorry." He said quietly.
Leeli stood up, and walked over to him. She placed a hand on his arm. "It's okay."
Kal smiled at her, but in his eyes, she could see sorrow.
"Kal, what's wrong?" She asked.
Kal shook his head, and kept a fake smile on. "Nothing. Now, let's eat. I'm hungry."
Everyone laughed.
"Captain, what's wrong?" Janner ran across the deck of the ship, where the captain paced back and forth.
"Oh, Throne Warden." The captain bowed his head. "A Fang ship was spotted just west of us. It seemed to be steering course towards us."
Janner turned pale. "Can we outrun it?"
"I sure hope so. If we can't, and the ship reaches us..."
Janner knew what the captain was going to say.
"Aye, lad we don't need to worry with that," The captain smiled. "Now, I think some of the boys need help with the sail."
Janner nodded his head and went to help.
"Dinner is served!"
Nia's announcement startled everyone as she walked out of the kitchen, with Arundelle and Sara behind her.
Kal laughed. "Didn't enjoy your cooking lesson, eh?" He said, looking at Sara.
Sara turned red. She didn't really enjoy cooking, but Nia and Arundelle had practically forced her to learn.
"Oh, don't bother her Kal." Arundelle smiled. "She just needs some more lessons."
Kal laughed as Sara groaned.
"Now, some help with the food?" Nia asked, looking at everyone who was sitting at the table.
"She wants you to help." Artham laughed.
Kal got up and walked into the kitchen, with Sara and Arundelle behind.
Nia lingered, and turned to Artham. "So what's the latest news?" She asked quietly.
"News?" Artham asked, confused.
"You didn't go check with the general for news on Janner's ship?"
"Oh! I did."
"And?"
"And, there's not much news to give. They've almost made it to the Fang ships line. That's it."
Nia sighed. "I was hoping for more."
Artham shrugged as Kal came into the dining room, holding a tray of food in each hand. He sat them on the table, then dusted his hands. Sara and Arundelle came out after him, both with trays of food.
"I knew we were having dinner, but I didn't know we were having a feast!" Leeli exclaimed.
Nia laughed as everyone started to serve themselves.
"Uh, captain?" Janner said, knocking on the door to the captains chamber.
"Come in!"
Janner walked in to find the ship's captain hovering over some maps.
"Sir, we made it past the Fang ship line." Janner said, grinning.
The captain's head shot up. "We did? And I wasn't out there to see it?!"
Janner laughed. "No, we slipped past quietly."
"Oh, well that makes sense. This is good!" The captain smiled, then turned back to his maps.
Janner grinned as he excused himself from the room, then headed to his own cabin.
This would certainly make a great story.
