Janner rushed to the railing of the ship.

In the distance, a Fang ship moved closer in their direction.

The captain was the first to recover from the shock. He started to bark orders, "Heist the sails! Stear the ship northbound!"

Janner headed belowdecks to prepare the weapons. As he rushed down, he decided to take a quick glance at the Fang ships.

"Oh no..."

The Fang ships were heading towards land.

And there were more than triple the amount of ships that were there before they left.

"Nia!" Artham burst into the kitchen, where Nia, Arundelle, and Sara were preparing a meal.

"Artham?" Nia noticed how tired he looked. "What's wrong?"

Artham panted as Arundelle rushed to get him a cup of water.

Nia noticed his urgent look as he quickly downed the glass of water.

"It's happening, isn't it?" She asked quietly.

Artham nodded his head.

Nia and Arundelle shared a look, as if they were remembering things. Sara was as confused as ever.

"What's happening?" She asked.

Nia turned to face her. "The Fangs are attacking us with their full force."

"Janner! Are those weapons ready yet?" The captain bellowed into the trapdoor that led belowdecks.

Janner peered up from where he was sitting, a large iron axe on his lap. "Almost. I've got most of them sharpened and ready. Just finishing up."

The captain nodded his head in approval. "You'd better hurry. Those ships are getting closer every second!" The captain rushed off as he was needed at another part of the ship.

Janner quietly said prayers of safety for him and his family.

Then the horn signaling an emergency went off.

"The ships are launching catapults!" Joseph shouted.

Artham had gotten then entire family together, ordering them to head to the safe room.

The safe room, being underground, was probably the safest place in Anniera. It was an ancient room, sort of like a Strander burrow, deep under the castle grounds. There was only one way into it and out of it. It was dug out around the Second Epoch, around the same time Miller's Bridge in Skree was built.

The safe room was dug out in such a way that air flow could occur, and provide oxygen in the room.

Once the family was in the safe room, Artham and Kalmar had to leave to go order the troops and citizens to safety. There was much chaos and fear going around, so Kalmar ordered all the women and children to flee to Dragon's Beach, where they could find shelter with Hulwen and the dragons. Artham had flown over there to let the Dragon Queen know that people were going to head there, but strangely, no dragon was found. It worried him.

Another problem had come up. The women and children didn't want to leave their husbands and fathers, but instead wanted to fight together. It stressed both Artham and Kalmar out.

Kal had decided to send messengers out around Anniera, calling everyone who was able-bodied to come and fight.

It was when an Annieran scout returned to Rysentown when things got really frantic.

"Sir!" The scout bowed when he saw Kal and Artham.

Kal nodded his head for him. "What is it?"

"Sir, the Fang ships are a mile out from the shore." The scout said quickly.

"No..." Kal shook his head. "That can't be true. I thought we had more time!"

The scout shook his head. "No, we don't."

Artham put his hand on Kal's shoulder. "Kal. It's time to get the army together."

Kal nervously nodded his head, and headed to talk to the people.

"People of Anniera!" Kal called out to the large crowds.

Everyone quieted down, and turned to face their king.

"I have gotten word that the Fang ships are closer. A mile out to be precise."

Gasps erupted from the crown. Young children clung to their parents.

Kal continued, and tried to hide his nervous stutter. "Now, we have a ship out there that went to the Green Hollows to ask the Keeper for help. Unfortunately, Throne Warden Janner Wingfeather is on that ship. Now, we are praying for his safety, was well as the safety of our Annieran sailors. Now, as much as I hate to have to tell you this, the battle we have long dreaded is drawing near. So, prepare yourselves. Get your weapons and armor sharpened and polishes. Get your families to safety, and if that is not possible, then fight to keep them alive. Fight to keep each other alive. This battle is not to destroy the enemy, but to protect our fellow Annierans, and our families. Now, don't get me wrong, the battle to wipe out evil will come. But, today is not that day."

Annierans cheered for their King. They started to chant, 'For the Hills and the Hollows and the Shining Isle!', a chant Kal had chanted when he fought in the second Battle of Ban Rona.

A horn went off in the distance. It was a warning horn from one of the watchtowers near the water.

The Fangs were almost there.

Large boulders went flying through the air. The Hollish ship that had escorted the Annieran ship began to make its counter-attack. The Hollishmen launched their catapults, with flaming boulder.

"The Fang ship is sinking!" Joesph shouted.

Relief coursed through Janner's mind.

But it was quickly replaced with fear as two more Fang ships made their way towards his ship while the rest of the Fang ships headed for land.

"We need to get home now!" Janner told the captain.

He sighed, then turned to his crew. "Men! Head home! Now!"

The crew uttered their reply and set to setting the ships gear.

"Are we ready yet?" Artham asked Kal.

Kalmar nodded his head. "Everyone's ready, and prepared."

Artham sighed. He sat on an empty barrel that sat on the side of the main street of Rysentown. "I wish we didn't have to do this again."

"Do what again?" Kal asked.

"Fight the Fangs. In Anniera." Artham replied.

Kal sat on another barrel beside him. "I wish they all would just disappear."

Artham nodded his head. "So do I."

But in the meantime, they would have to fight a battle they never thought they'd ever fight in again.
