Guest: Wow this is getting tense. I'm on the edge of my seat!
RainyDayReading342: Noo! Goodness, this is getting super intense. I love how you wrote Janner's inner thoughts like "I left them defenseless" or "Of all times", it was great! One thing that I noticed through this story you could work on capitalizing you story names, like, instead ofThe wedding that was almost prevented
to: The Wedding That Was Almost Prevented
Just something for the future, I am not asking you to change the name of your story, you would have to delete it to do that... (NOOO!)
Anyways, its going great!
KGWingfeatherFan: OH NO! *hyperventilates*
They don't have them, no no no…..
And, Yeah I'm the same way. :)
Mwahaha. But seriously STOP WITH THE CLIFFHANGERS!
A/N: I'll certainly take that into consideration, Rainy :)
Also, KGWingfeatherFan, should you go to the hospital, since you're hyperventilating?
Just sayin'...
ON WITH THE STORY!
"They-they aren't here." Artham stuttered.
Janner, who stood beside his uncle, looking in the safe room, was speechless.
His family was gone, taken.
"Now what?" Kalmar asked.
"We find them." Artham whispered.
Janner nodded his head, though his plans were different that what Artham thought.
He was going to turn himself in.
"We should get back to the people." Kalmar said quietly, turning to the exit of the safe room.
Artham and Janner followed him.
That night, all of the Annierans camped out in Rysentown. None of them wanted to leave their king at such a vulnerable time, since the rest of the Wingfeather family was taken.
The Hollish ships had arrived that evening, right after the Fangs had left. The O'Sally family was among the Hollishfolk that come to help.
Thorn was very mad when he heard that Leeli was taken.
But also, that night, something else was happening.
Janner was going to sneak away and take a dragon to the Blackwood. He was then going to turn himself in.
Aryzuth, the dragon Janner was taking, was very reluctant to bring him, but Janner soon coaxed him.
"All you have to do is fly me there. I'll walk the rest of the way." Janner had said.
On those circumstances, I'll fly you there, Ayzuth replied. But please stay safe, Throne Warden.
Janner smiled as he mounted Aryzuth. "I will."
When Janner arrived at the Blackwood, Aryzuth had landed in Clovenfast, and dropped Janner off there.
Then began the Throne Warden's trek into the thick forest.
Janner didn't really know where in the forest he was supposed to meet the Stonekeeper. So, he just kept exploring the dangerous forest.
As Janner began to head South, he suddenly heard voices.
Voices, getting closer and closer.
As Janner began to search for a place to hide, he felt himself get punched in the back of his head, and everything went black.
"Janner!"
"Is he waking up?"
"It looks like it."
"BE QUIET!"
Voices, familiar voices, sounding distant, woke Janner up. He suddenly felt cold all over, and began to violently shiver. His vision was blurry, but soon sharpened.
Then he saw his family, surrounded by Fangs.
He himself was being watched by a Grey Fang.
"Good," He hovered over Janner. "You're awake."
It was the same Fang that had shouted for everyone to quiet.
Janner then tried to get his bearings. He was laying on his side, with his arms tied behind his back. His legs were free, which was good.
As he looked around, he found out that they were in a small clearing, a small circle amongst the many trees. There was a small campfire in the middle, and a few Bat Fangs were laying next to it.
Across the clearing, sat 5 people.
His family.
Murgah smiled. "How does it feel, knowing that the Throne Warden is sacrificing himself again, to save his family and his people?"
Janner struggled to breath as what she said sank in.
His family felt the same way.
"What do you mean?" Someone asked.
Janner could barely realize that Sara had asked that.
He looked over his shoulder, and saw her watching him, even though she was talking to the Stonekeeper.
Murgah shrugged. "I guess you'll have to find out."
Then the Fang that had been watching Janner, grabbed his arm and stood him up.
The quick movement had caused a wave of dizziness to overcome Janner.
Nia saw her son, and her eyes turned glassy. She then said a silent prayer to the Maker for their protection.
"Move him out." Murgah ordered, looking at the Fang holding Janner.
"As you wish." The Fang murmured.
Janner then was pulled away from his family.
Right into the dark forest.
"Well, since he turned himself in, I suppose you five may leave." Murgah said. She turned to another Fang. "Untie them."
Once Nia, Sara, Arundelle, Leeli, and Madya were untied, Sara turned to Nia.
"Now what? We have no way of getting home!"
Leeli smiled as she grabbed her whistleharp. "I believe I can fix that."
She waited until all the Fangs had moved out of the campsite, and then began to play a beautiful melody.
She didn't even mean for the song to connect her and her brothers.
Leeli! Where are you? Kalmar asked.
We just got set free from the Fangs. Leeli answered. How are things there?
Sort of fine. The Fangs left. Kalmar said, then he turned his attention to his brother.
Janner? Where are you?
I...turned myself in. Janner replied. His mental voice was weak.
Leeli could see in her minds eye, that Kal teared up.
Why? Why'd you turn yourself in?
So that our family could go home.
WHY?! I was working on a plan to save them!
It's already done Kal, Leeli said. Start on a plan to save him.
Leeli. Janner said weakly.
Yeah?
You don't know what the Stonekeeper wants to do.
Don't say it-
There's no way you can save me. You don't even know where I am. I don't even know where I am!
Kalmar cut in. We will save you.
You can't. Janner replied. The Stonekeeper has an entire plan worked out. But she's going to leave Anniera alone.
But-but, there has to be a way to save you and beat the Fangs. Kal countered.
There isn't. Janner replied.
Slowly the connection started to break.
But before it fully broke, Janner told Leeli something.
Tell the rest of the family that I love them.
Then it broke.
